Level 125 merchant here...I get a knowledge point every 2 cycles(each cycle is between 3 and 5 minutes depending on how long the refresh on the bounties takes). The amount of EXP you get scales significantly as you level, but the amount of knowledge stays consistent. I've been getting a knowledge point every 6-10 minutes the entire time i've been leveling merchant.
Merchant is the way to go, also should be done way before Leatherworker for other people that are seeing that for first time - The higher your Merchant level, the better discounts you will get on hide/leather and that means the more profit you are earning also through Leatherworker.
@@kroberts88kr I've literally streamed every minute of it. There's no bug abuse. The exp rates scale with your level. When you start at level 1 they give ~500 exp each. At level 100 they give ~6k exp each. At 125 im getting ~7.5k exp each...Instead of ignorantly saying I bug abuse, you could always just ask.
@@kroberts88kr My man, I stream for a living. I went in completely blind and was to act 4 before the end of my 2nd day. From there I immediately started merchant. I genuinely don't know what to tell you, as i said, there are vods on my channel. There are people who are over 200 cooking right now, but somehow 125 merchant is unbelievable to you? Crafting skills = slow to level. The other ones, such as gathering and merchant and combat are not nearly as slow.
I timed mine for woodcutting pines just now. lvl 84 trees, all in 1 zone with no downtime and it took me 17 minutes for a single knowledge point. With the amount of xp I get from it I can definitely see doing merchant and spending all knowledge points on woodcutting would be faster for woodcutting than doing literally the tree with the best rotation.
u mentioned that alchemy is slow to train, but buying the ingredients for fear potions is actually pretty fast training with not a huge silver loss (I got to lvl 30 with this method)
Early Levels go really fast, but eventually if you want to switch to a higher recipe, things just really slow down in my opinion. Some other professions ( combat is just one, my example ) are faster
@ yah a lot of the consumable professions (stone, bone, smith, alchemy, cooking ect) don’t scale very well, and I often time find myself doing one recipe on repeat rather than doing higher level ones because the silver/ exp ratios go wayyyy up. I think the game would benefit from taking on the runescape exp system where u get exp based off of the ingredients spent rather than having a flat exp increase every level.
There's also two other bonuses to combat that sadly make it feel better than most other professions - Quarter Master Spell allowing you to essentially "empty" your inventory once while you're grinding it to have less downtime - It's constantly profit , it costs you nothing to do , you keep finding gear upgrades and you're always increasing your income That being said I think there might be a break-point where something like gathering professions will end up with more KP / hour especially ones right next to deposit banks but so far no way to tell also I wonder if upgrading tools to gain more EXP will also affect KP like EXP potions seem to do
True, true! I do hope either that people will find more hidden ways for other professions to make this less obvious, but it's also not hard to fix since it's just about KP Gain honestly.
Before consuming a knowledge point, drink an XP potion to increase how much xp you get from the knowledge point. I haven't tested this out myself yet, but someone told me in game.
this works as long as you have the potion on before you hit 100% and I think you also have to spend the point before the potion expires to get 5% extra on the bonus
@@bradc94 you need to make sure you drink the proper xp potion for the skill. i.e training blacksmithing you need to drink the mine xp potion AND be in the mines while claiming the point
There are for sure some skills in Runescape that just felt terrible to level. I feel like with how they are designed it just makes it harder to grind without dreading it.
I'd like to point out that the higher you are in combat, it takes a little longer for monster to die, so that extra XP will even out eventually. At lvl 100 mosters have 400 HP and yes i hit 20 and 30 a lot, but it still takes longer.
Yes but they also give more xp to reflect that some guys that got to lvl 200 said that its roughly 22 kills per lvl but at 200 comes a HUGE xp bump. The thing that affects it the most tough is your weapon and if you are drinking strenght pots for every fight or not. Fighting is also a good skill to lvl with a xp potion in your inventory to use before you use a knowledge point. In other skills you have to sacrifice a slot for it time to consume and get them.
I just watched this after grinding crafting profession, you are 100% right that crafting and gathering is slower knowledge points / hour, but Detective and Merchant seem good in that regard. Basically ep4 is busted.
This is a great video in concept and I had exactly the same ideas, but at level 200, Knowledge Points become around 5% of a level rather than the 25% they feel like prior to that. for the level 100-200 period it may be faster to do exclusively Knowledge Points
From what I can tell, knowledge points are about 1% per exp drop so if you do skills/combat that you get xp drops fast, then you obtain your knowledge point quicker
I'm actually experimenting on this, trying to get to 500 guard (119 currently), and use combat to level other professions. Also leveling combat does get faster the higher you go
@WellDoneOnTheInternetEverybody there are plenty that have been banned already, and patches for said abuses. Some may be lucky and not have been banned. The skill cap is 500, and lvl 100 in a week with the weak xp rates? Doesn't add up. Unless they've done absolutely nothing else, and were a beta player
@@kroberts88kr my skills are guard 141, chef 0, fishing 21, forage 12, alchemy 9, others 0...its a simple game not not much content, y would i wander around... grinding skill levels is the way to go.. knowledge exp gives way more in higher levels
I just timed these lvl 18 raids. I'm 31 Watchwoman and 28 Detective and it took me 15 minutes and 30 seconds to gain a knowledge point. I did notice you don't seem to get knowledge xp from the raid completing so it looks like you're just getting it from the kills.
in weapon crafting it is way more evident. You get crap knowledge on bones but actually ok knowledge on higher level weapons, the 4th tier bones gives noticeably more knowledge than the 3th tier(still very very bad). If level is impactfull the best profession is hands down merchant but I'm not audacious enough to try and push it. I boomed in level by doing rogue hideouts yesterday and the day before, smashing low level enemies getting tons of knowledge.
CryoKnights4LIFE! While re-listening to this as I farm Wendigos because I can't kill the Spiders yet; I'm getting 4.5-ish Knowledge per Kill. The mobs are 3 combat levels higher than I am; I wonder if it's about fighting the HIGHER level mobs, where when doing everything else, we are almost always of a higher level than what we are Gathering/Crafting. Doing things at a Higher Level = More Knowledge?

There was some valuable insights in the video but overall I would say it's unnecessarily confusing... Just to sum it all up: it's quite obvious that combat in any episode is the most efficient activity in terms of level+gold/per hour. So yes, you probably should prioritize those skills first but that doesn't make it the "best way to level up fast in Brighter Shores" because rushing the completion of the main quest line of the game is infinitely faster early on. Another thing that is very important about the "knowledge leveling method" , aren't you actually required to have lvl 20 in a skill before you can drop exp into it with knowledge ? Maybe that's once you're past lvl 100 total but yeah, this method doesn't really make sense either way because if you're focusing on combat then you gotta get the exp for that as it will make your grind faster and if you need exp for a specific skill then you better focus on doing that directly because it's faster exp rates anyway. I'd say the meta is doing the Main Story Line up to the lvl 60 total part/ Completing The Obelisk quest/ Getting your levels up to 20s as after that the exp required for levelups is 4x. Then move on to Ep.2, complete the main story line quest after levelling scout high enough for it. Then you kinda get to decide either you go straight into ep 3 or do the Spider nest quest asap to unlock the skilling bank spell. I do want to add that most people are trying too hard to dumb down this game to OSRS levels but seriously, it's doesn't have to be like that. Play a game for fun and forget about metas for a minute, maybe you will enjoy it. Most of us don't have enough free time to waste on grinding these leaderboard positions anyway so who cares about micro efficiency at this point. It's sad to see people needing to boost their ego in a video game meanwhile they"re failing to realise that playing games devalues their actual egos IRL. If you want to be happy playing a videogame, you have to accept that it's all a gigantic waste of time anyway, stop lying to yourself. Even if you make millions streaming the content, at the end of the day, you're still wasting everyone's time and you're not providing any solid value for society. Entertainment is an escape from reality and when you let it become your reality, you soon or later realise that it's all fake and meaningless.
It IS more efficient in the very first few hours of the game actually - and that's exactly also where it ends. The early tools for all the gatherers get very expensive in one go. After that you grind money way faster.
Beep wrong. Knowledge points wont replace normal crafting even for The slowest proffesions. Why? Just simple math Example: Alchemy 1 pot = 100 exp x 100 = 10.000 exp + knowledge point (about 50%) 5.000, Time spend 30 min Knowledge point farm = 5.000 exp for 15 min - x2 gives 10.000 what is 5.000 less than normal Well about timing/spending time it all depends how you play game, if you but ingridients or not do you farm them or not but I do not really bealive that "Slower proffesion" Will be THAT slower than other. Also to mention to gain 7% u need fight STRONGER mobs with means you will have to use pots or be leg geared (What is kinda low % to be) so you sticks with 3% basicly, also to mention that you can still die even when your level is even to mobs what take u out 1 min for each death. But yea combat profs gots lots of good things especially for questing/money making so dont skip it much as even if you do quest req proffs you still fight at the end. Combar proffs are best for money and money is best to spend on mats so its saves u tons of time (But still you will have to level up gathering proffs for quests anyways) To mention also, for faster leveling to 100 best way is to get pots 5% as its save tons of time/materials in long term thinking. 5% isnt small trust me.
I don't think your process adds up logically. You don't have to fight higher level monsters than you for higher Knowledge Points - this is confirmed by players. Knowledge is 25% XP of a level, which is quite significant - 5,000 was only an example, as it scales. I honestly can't follow your numbers though, since they don't have any basis of reference, but remember that even with your numbers, it was a Knowledge point every 7 minutes not 15 - which makes it 20,000 XP / 30 minutes - and in reality it will much more than that - 4x25% XP which is a full level.
15 minutes was just an example, same for alchemy 30 minutes was example time stamp as it was wroted above "Example". Btw EXP is also example. 50% - means 50% OF Knowledge points. So if x100 gives you 100 exp, your knowledge point will be divided by 2 of this = 5000% WHAT MEANS 25% of level (I just used different math) thats why knowledge points scales more after each level When someone will do spreadsheet with times/exp/gold making for all proffs post 20lvl we can talk about what is better. From now math is not lying. But if you dont belive do some proffs 1 leveling with points only 1 with doing it manuall with/without buying mats

I did an investigation board bounty for Forensics and just one shot my KP up by 18%. Don’t sleep on Forensics for the money and XP gain.
How long did it take though to complete it?

Also the sell back values scale off of item level for weapons rather than materials which again makes high level crafts unviable for exp.

the cooking bounties also give a decent chuck of knowledge.

To a degree that's the beauty of the Knowledge system also - you can play other professions and level the ones you hate with them.

Basicly best way is to grind ep4 and just put all KP on ur main crafting skill

the meta is push a combat level, ep 4 is bis b/c u get merchant drops. then KP/knowledge exp your other professions

Use exp potion with ur knowledge points. It gives afound 400 to 800 more exp

Spider quest in zone 2 with 32 carpentry unlocks universal banks around every map
