Shio was a pushover, vulnerable and manipulable. Satou unconsciously corrupted and manipulated Shio by telling her things like never leaving the castle or just being with her. Satou was selfish not even being able to put herself in Shio's brother's shoes {since she also lost Shio at one point} when Satou died, She caused Shio so much mental damage that all her psychopathy ended on her. Also, Satou killed her best friend just because of Shio, normally a kid of Shio's age would be scared by the things Satou does. but Shio is so corrupted and manipulated that she even said she didn't care about her family. in conclusion? Satou took advantage of a little girl who didn't know what she wanted.
I've seen countless yanderes who force their love and think only of themselves. It's only because Sato is better than them(Even though Satou was being selfish, she tried to make Shio happy), I have no intention of defending Satou. When I saw the ending, I only felt sorry for Asahi (Shio's brother).
