Nick Saban is a true man’s man and an amazing coach. He takes responsibility and acknowledges weaknesses instead of making excuses. So many coaches will blame outside factors, injuries, mistakes, etc when they lose. When Bama loses Saban takes the blame. I’m a UF fan but I respect the hell out of Nick Saban.

I'm a Bama fan and also a graduate of the school. On one hand I believe if you don't win you don't go forward. Having said that Alabama has only lost 1 game all year and that was a rivalry game. If Alabama doesn't go to the championship I can live with it. If they go I can believe they deserve it. Bottom line is you aren't going to win many games in the SEC only scoring 14 points. Offense was the achilles in this game.
Plain and simple....I'm a Bama fan for life, but Alabama lost the quarterback battle tonight. And Daboll and Pruitt are no Kiffin and Smart. When Bama played in space/perimeter, they had their best drive of the game to start the second half. No identity or creativity on offense..Bama don't know what they want to be be on offense. First and second round NFL skill players all over the team, but to only score 14 points? And, the scoring has been trending downward against the SEC west teams with a pulse. This is not an offense that can win a national title. The defense giving up 26 points on the road- in a rivalry game- against a hot quarterback- is not that bad, considering the injuries on defense and returning players maybe not being on game shape. At the end of the season, Saban needs to reevaluate his coordinators, especially on offense, and reevaluate the quarterback for next year. Auburn played so beautifully, and loose on offense...Bama...atrociously!
18 combined rushes from Harris, Scarbough, and Jacobs. I expected Bama to rely heavily on the run game to set up some easy downfield throws for Hurts and also maybe to throw in a few screen plays and draw plays to slow down Auburn D-Line to help the O-Line on none running plays. We underused 3 really good RBs against Auburn. That's where I'm disappointed in Saban and staff. Roll Tide still.
I finished watching the offensive side plays of the entire game "film-style" (that's in reading the defense, sets, play itself in details and more importantly w/o emotions). I have to admit that the gameplan Bama did was honestly wasn't bad. I only disagreed with the misuse of RBs and still believe that we underused them and it might've cost us the game. However, after watching the game "film-style" it showed me how tough it is for coaches to coach in game. I mean Ridley dropped a crucial 3rd down catch in the 2nd Quarter. In the 1st Q, LT got called for a clip that slowed down the drive and eventually caused a Turnover. Hurts missed open guys on that 3rd and 4th Quarter drive where we wasn't able to convert on a FG and had those botch snaps. It seems like had the players came through in those situations and won the game, I wouldn't of cared how misused the RBs were because we would had won a different way and style and I wouldn't of criticized Saban and staff. I'm only saying this to say that football is sometime a crazy sport and it's a pure example of why it's an ultimate team game. Credit to Auburn on maximizing their plays and such and taking advantage of Bama's missed opportunities.

lindseyandrewal yes they did know everything we threw at them they had our game plan down to a science and executed their game plan. we were too predictable. But the one thing auburn would have never saw coming is if we rolled TUA out to start the 2nd half and start throwing the ball down field, he's a quick releaser a accurate passer and reads defenses well that would have opened up the run game and kept auburn on their heels and maybe just maybe won us the game.
Heartbroken for these young men. Staying on top week in week out for as long as they have and dealing with the overwhelming pressure to do so with dignity and class is an example to all athletes. Love this team🐘🏈🐘

So here's the deal. Yes the offense let the team down. I'm not saying that all is lost for this team but here are some glaring observations with me being in coaching at the high school level... 1). The offensive game plan was very vanilla and I've been saying this since week 3. The plan has been similar to Kiffen-screens early to loosen up the D- this works when you're successful at it. What should happen next in the passing game is to give your Qb some simple throws just as auburn did to get him in a groove (outs/comebacks, seam routes to the TE). None of this happened. 2) because of the lacking game plan, Jalen is not progressing in the passing game. Auburn plays the same style of D that bama does (pattern matching-man) so I'm not sure how or why easy throws weren't taken. 3) on defense- simple-Alabama is pretty good up front but not elite. Having to send 6 to get pressure is flirting with disaster. There is no reason the safety Minka should be rushing the Qb consistently. But I'm definitely not down on the coaching staff, sometimes really good staffs can have blinders on and not be able to make those in game philosophy adjustments that need to be made.
No, you were out coach today, Stedman looked twice the quarterback Hurts was, Hurts is basically a running back that can somewhat throw, Tua is a complete quarterback and I hope next fall he gets an opportunity to play, possibly start, the offense as well as a defense was pedestrian and predictable, nothing complicated, very easy to defend against..even with the injuries Bama looked bad and absolutely does not deserve a spot in the playoffs even though there's an outside chance they may get one

Bama had one good drive in this entire game- to start the second half....Daboll's play calling/scheme has not been very good against solid SEC west teams (Miss State, LSU, Auburn). It has been trending downward. He is no Lane Kiffin.

The QB with the 2nd highest passer rating in college football watched the whole game from the sidelines and Hurts panicked and ran around like an overgrown squirrel all night. Alabama's greatest weakness is PASSING, and that weakness keeps getting exposed against top 10 teams. They couldn't pass against Washington, Clemson, or LSU last year, and their passing was shut down against FSU, LSU, and Auburn so far this year as well. It's time to return to a traditional balanced offense with a great passer first and foremost behind center (Tua), and leave the running up to the running backs, who, since Hurts has taken over, have been under utilized while putting up truly epic yards per carry numbers. Harris is #7 in the SEC all-time in yards per carry this season AND HE ONLY GOT 6 CARRIES TONIGHT! Think about that.

Tua would not have made any difference. Hurts had no time to pass and under pressure most of the night. Additionally, the receivers were not getting open. When Bama had a receiver get open late in the game, he runs his route short of the first down marker... Mental mistakes all night on offense.

So they load the box with 7 or 8 and stop the run and KNOW that jalen can't beat them with his arm. Hell he can't even get the ball on the right side of the Receivers when he does throw the ball. He's not pro material - Tua is - Tua might turn the ball over more during the course of the season but we'd score a lot more points and take pressure off the defense. I think Saban (whom I totally respect and give the highest honor) didn't get out coached but stubbornly refused to admin what even the lowest of fans can already see. Jalen doesn't have the ability to lead this team to it's fullest potential offensively -- Lots of questions...

Also our wide receivers didn't catch the ball very well. There were two or three passes to Calvin that he dropped. Also Robert Foster...he should have gotten that first down. I was happy with their performance and the loss. It was a tough team. It wasn't a lucky win for Auburn like it was a few years ago. Didn't get their butts whooped like some said. The whole game was sloppy. Could either of these teams destroy other teams in the playoff? WITHOUT A DOUBT! No more cupcakes! WTHeck was up with Mercer? Not a good sustainer for an Auburn team.
4 Seniors on the OL makes a difference. Auburn deserved to win today but I'd like to get a rematch in the playoffs. Teams usually learn more in losses than in wins.
Auburn had great game plans on offense and defense. They established a blueprint on how to beat this Alabama team. And the two teams with good passing attacks (Clemson and Oklahoma) will be ready to exploit the Tide should they be lucky enough to make the final four.
Auburn could rush 4 and immediately get to Hurts, Bama rushed 5 and couldn't get to stidham. That's why auburn won. Jalen is a great QB, and Saban is the best coach. But nothing you can do when you lose the battle up front! This is coming from an LSU fan. Bama just wasn't quite the same this year in the trenches.
Guys we are forgetting how young we are this year with exception of the O line. BAma has has 20+ different players hurt throughout the year. So of course he is pleased. Plus Bama will get in the playoffs without playing in the conference title game
Didn't watch this game but Auburn generally employs an unorthodox style of play to help them win against the more traditional opponents. Sounds like Saban is describing this unorthodoxy and Alabama's failed attempt to counter it.
You need to learn, Nick, to let your running backs run the ball....instead of trying to let Jalen Hurts win it all on his own. In addition, you should have put Tua in the game to give Auburn a different look with the southpaw quarterback, and to try and find a spark that Hurts was not providing. And, finally, you need to really try and improve your team's ability to snap the ball. You probably lost 10 points, just on those screw-ups.

Hurts missed open guys on that 3rd and 4th Quarter drive where we wasn't able to convert on a FG and had those botch snaps. It seems like had the players came through in those situations and won the game, I wouldn't of cared how misused the RBs were because we would had won a different way and style and I wouldn't of criticized Saban and staff. I'm only saying this to say that football is sometime a crazy sport and it's a pure example of why it's an ultimate team game. Credit to Auburn on maximizing their plays and such and taking advantage of Bama's missed opportunities.

So here's the deal. Yes the offense let the team down. I'm not saying that all is lost for this team but here are some glaring observations with me being in coaching at the high school level...
1). The offensive game plan was very vanilla and I've been saying this since week 3. The plan has been similar to Kiffen-screens early to loosen up the D- this works when you're successful at it. What should happen next in the passing game is to give your Qb some simple throws just as auburn did to get him in a groove (outs/comebacks, seam routes to the TE). None of this happened.
2) because of the lacking game plan, Jalen is not progressing in the passing game. Auburn plays the same style of D that bama does (pattern matching-man) so I'm not sure how or why easy throws weren't taken.
3) on defense- simple-Alabama is pretty good up front but not elite. Having to send 6 to get pressure is flirting with disaster. There is no reason the safety Minka should be rushing the Qb consistently. But I'm definitely not down on the coaching staff, sometimes really good staffs can have blinders on and not be able to make those in game philosophy adjustments that need to be made.
on offense. the main problem is the O-line. lack of communication among QB, RB and O-line.

The play calling and offensive scheme was fine. However, the offense did not execute, very little pass protection and the defense never pressured the Auburn QB nor stopped Auburn's offense on third down conversions.
Bama had one good drive in this entire game- to start the second half....Daboll's play calling/scheme has not been very good against solid SEC west teams (Miss State, LSU, Auburn). It has been trending downward. He is no Lane Kiffin.

Alabama's greatest weakness is PASSING, and that weakness keeps getting exposed against top 10 teams. They couldn't pass against Washington, Clemson, or LSU last year, and their passing was shut down against FSU, LSU, and Auburn so far this year as well. It's time to return to a traditional balanced offense with a great passer first and foremost behind center (Tua), and leave the running up to the running backs, who, since Hurts has taken over, have been under utilized while putting up truly epic yards per carry numbers. Harris is #7 in the SEC all-time in yards per carry this season AND HE ONLY GOT 6 CARRIES TONIGHT! Think about that.

Tua would not have made any difference. Hurts had no time to pass and under pressure most of the night. Additionally, the receivers were not getting open. When Bama had a receiver get open late in the game, he runs his route short of the first down marker... Mental mistakes all night on offense.

Auburn had great game plans on offense and defense. They established a blueprint on how to beat this Alabama team. And the two teams with good passing attacks (Clemson and Oklahoma) will be ready to exploit the Tide should they be lucky enough to make the final four.

Didn't watch this game but Auburn generally employs an unorthodox style of play to help them win against the more traditional opponents. Sounds like Saban is describing this unorthodoxy and Alabama's failed attempt to counter it.

You need to learn, Nick, to let your running backs run the ball....instead of trying to let Jalen Hurts win it all on his own. In addition, you should have put Tua in the game to give Auburn a different look with the southpaw quarterback, and to try and find a spark that Hurts was not providing. And, finally, you need to really try and improve your team's ability to snap the ball. You probably lost 10 points, just on those screw-ups.
