My wife and I love Saru. In fact she believes he should get a special award for being able to save the galaxy while wearing heels. She's actually envious. Congratulations to Doug Jones for having such a stellar career and a huge thank you for crafting such a memorable character.❤
Will, you are such a talented interviewer. I love that your history with Star Trek gives you such insight into the experiences of the actors your interview because of your incredible empathy, but I’m also certain your gifts as a questioner will extend far beyond the Star Trek universe. Thank you for The Ready Room.
I’ve been watching Trek since the original run of TOS. Saru is one of the most amazing characters with one of the most relatable arcs in all trekdom. The scenes with Burnam brought me to tears. Kudos to Mr. Jones for creating one of the most heartfelt characters in trek.
Mr Jones.....you are legend and I love your performance not only as Captain Saru but your other rolls such as zombie in hocus pocus and in hellboy....it made me think if Doug Jones can do things like this I can too❤❤❤
Doug Jones, what a gentleman. And what an insightful actor, to create an entire new species for us to enjoy and relate to. As for Wil, Frakes was right - he was born for this role. I really enjoy his fine work and obvious commitment to the whole of Trek.
I’m just starting season 3 of discovery. I’m loving it. I was a huge TNG fan as a teenager and beyond. I soooo loved Picard! Now Discovery is my new addiction.
I want to know why it seems to have disappeared from Amazon Prime (where I watch Paramount+). Has it also disappeared from Paramount+? Maybe that’s why it’s so truncated…?
Saru is my favorite person on Discovery! Hope ST fines a way to keep Mr Jones. Mr Jones you have helped me to understand myself better also. Live long and prosper.
Look in the dictionary for chameleon and you'll actually find a picture of Doug Jones. He and Andy Serkis are true actors in body and soul and word. And on a production note, that carpet ride run through the forest to think that up? Crazy cool!
I am going to miss Saru after this final season. He was the first Alien I was rooting for to be captain of the Discovery. Well he was for a short while. I would of loved to have him stay as captain.
Without knowing Doug Jones until Discovery-I then found out I had seen him in quite a few movies when they needed a special kind of alien like life form & in a recent movie by Mr sci fi-Space COMAND -but we saw his human side while not. I’ve Enjoyed these 5 years-sad to see it go Glad it Lived 5 years & not Short change like Archers Enterprise!
I wish Paramount would make a new series of the Traveler make it a short series bring back Will Whitton to see where he has been in the Star Trek lore.
I am enjoying the season so far, just wish it wasn't a whole season of the 1 story again, DS9 is the last show that got that right with the Dominion War which lasted 2 seasons but so much went on before and during that it didn't feel dragged on. However, I am very much excited to see the rest of the season, the actors are fantastic! I love SMG and DJ
Bring back Star Trek Lower Decks for many more seasons!! It’s the love letter to trekkies that we all deserve. If viewership is the issue, maybe don’t make it stream exclusively on Paramount Plus
900 years in the future and the writers still keep going back to obscure references like this one from TNG. They never made good on any new reinvention given the far distant future setting & just keep mining the distant past. Can only assume that's a about lack of confidence and an attempt to prop up the ratings (which clearly failed). Hopefully they wll do much better in Starfleet Academy and resist the need to keep doing this. Some new ideas, eh? Reminds me a little of the Picard series. I thought S1 was excllent and chock full of genuinely new ideas & twists (like Data's daughter /twins, the Romunan reclamation project etc). Exactly what Patrick Stewart asked for at the outset: no rehashing of old stuff, old cast. But sure enough, S2 turns into an ode to Q, then S3 goes all out and 'gets the band back together' & with the idiotic scenario of (somehow) an 'analogue' Enterprise D going to the rescue ... Please, get some new ideas together. Expamd and renew the thing & stop endlessly re-hashing.
Who said anything about pseudo science? This is exactly how life is seeded.. look up Dolores Canon Keepers of the Garden. It's all true true true! The progenitors/ancient aliens are the service of the great divine!
As "The Ready Room" grows, I hope Wil stays with it. No one else can do this like he does.
Dude, this season's premise is very satisfying to those of us that are deep lore nerds

Watching Doug and Wil together is like diving into a pile of puppies.
That's probably the best take on it I've ever heard.
Now they need a song, "Walk Like a Kelpien".
I approve this message.
I've missed The Ready Room so much!
Adorable interview! I love Doug Jones in everything he has done, and Wil is such an awesome interviewer!
Doug Jones seems like such a sweet man. DISCO has had ups and downs for me but I've always loved Suru.
Saru has always been an "up" in Discovery. The best Star Trek is character driven and his character is one of the all time best.
Doug Jones is a national treasure. Thanks, Wil, for this wonderful interview.
I always forget how much I enjoy “The Ready Room”! So glad to have you back Will Wheaton!
Many thanks to Wil, Doug and everyone involved in THE READY ROOM! 📡
I enjoyed both episodes very much....fills my craving easily for more Star Trek.

Welcome back Ready Room!!
Loved both episodes of Season 5 of Discovery
🖖
Cannot wait for more of this seasons journey
Doug and his characters story and growth really has been the highlight of the series for me. I will miss him.

great Kelpien sashaying
Great show as always... but I'm saddened that the run time for The Ready Room was cut down to roughly a third of what it's been in seasons(?) past.
About half; most of them have been about 30 minutes.
I want to know why it seems to have disappeared from Amazon Prime (where I watch Paramount+). Has it also disappeared from Paramount+? Maybe that’s why it’s so truncated…?
@@ScottGammans
No, it's still on Paramount +.
Saru is the best character on the show
Disagree. Jet Reno
Saru is my favorite person on Discovery! Hope ST fines a way to keep Mr Jones. Mr Jones you have helped me to understand myself better also. Live long and prosper.
Sad to see it end. This is one of the best Star Trek shows.
amazing that the Action Saru running scene wasn't just sped-up footage!
Great interview. Thank you. Is it me or did this episode of Ready Room feel a bit rushed?
Doug Jones is such a gdamn treasure to scifi ❤️
Weslee is excited. We ALL ARE!
Thank you Doug Jones
Why is Doug Jones just the best
Wil! I miss Star Trek when it's not streaming, and I miss YOU!
Look in the dictionary for chameleon and you'll actually find a picture of Doug Jones. He and Andy Serkis are true actors in body and soul and word. And on a production note, that carpet ride run through the forest to think that up? Crazy cool!
A traveler doing the Kelpian walk? I'm gonna die happy from a fan service overdose!!!!!
I am going to miss Saru after this final season. He was the first Alien I was rooting for to be captain of the Discovery. Well he was for a short while. I would of loved to have him stay as captain.
I love action Saru!
Suru ROCKS!!!!
I missed this show 😭😅
Amazing work, as always!
Doug Jones is fantastic as Saru.
Are the Progenitors related to the Preservers from TOS, Sargon’s people, who also claimed to seed the galaxy in the distant past? 🖖♾
Paramount, green light Legacy! Love the ready room, Will is the perfect host for this
I read this as "they green lit legacy." I was so happy. We just gotta talk more ppl into watching
Without knowing Doug Jones until Discovery-I then found out I had seen him in quite a few movies when they needed a special kind of alien like life form & in a recent movie by Mr sci fi-Space COMAND -but we saw his human side while not. I’ve Enjoyed these 5 years-sad to see it go

im going to miss saru doug jones
I wish Paramount would make a new series of the Traveler make it a short series bring back Will Whitton to see where he has been in the Star Trek lore.
Not having Doug on most of the last season will be a loss for the show. He's the best actor and the plays the best character.
Wil, I caught that "appears to be" Saru's last mission.
I did too... 😢
I am enjoying the season so far, just wish it wasn't a whole season of the 1 story again, DS9 is the last show that got that right with the Dominion War which lasted 2 seasons but so much went on before and during that it didn't feel dragged on.

Shorter episodes 😢 breaks my heart... Why they always gotta mess with perfection?
I am Saru and T'rina found each other. I hope they marry during Season 5. That would end this season perfectly.
Bring back Star Trek Lower Decks for many more seasons!! It’s the love letter to trekkies that we all deserve. If viewership is the issue, maybe don’t make it stream exclusively on Paramount Plus
I'm hoping we get a Star Trek wedding...!!!
The Ready Room episodes are usually 30 minutes. Why are they cut in half this season?
is ep 2 the last we see of saru?
How come I have the feeling the technology in question is Iconian….
Is that the same prop on the set from TNG?
Super short episode.

Here
In recent years Doug Jones has been in two of my favorite shows: Discovery and What We Do In The Shadows. Slightly differing characters. Just barely.
am i the only one extremely worried by star trek returning to the pseudo-scientific ancient astronaut theory?
I can’t speak for anyone else. But I’m not worried at all. Chill
Haven’t you wondered why so many aliens look so similar to humans?
Who said anything about pseudo science? This is exactly how life is seeded.. look up Dolores Canon Keepers of the Garden. It's all true true true! The progenitors/ancient aliens are the service of the great divine!
I loved his character so much but did not like discovery.
WHAT THE HECK is up with only 15 minute episodes this year!?!? BOOO!! Take it back to 30 minutes!!!
Day 17 of asking for the 4th season of the icarly reboot since it ended on a cliff hanger
Paramount budget cuts...idk about that show but maybe just ask for a movie to end it
@abi_corinne I had no idea that Saru was played by Doug Jones!
