I appreciate Dan taking a moment to educate the audience about bloat, it's a serious issue, especially for larger breeds.
Dogs have pretty faulty design tbh.
@@notsure1969 As do us hughmans. Which is why we're perfect for each other :)
Yes! Giant breeds or dogs with a deep chest and slim waist (Great Danes) are particularly susceptible. Those “maze” bowls help them not vacuum food up too quickly like Kirby.
@@notsure1969 a lot of their faulty design is because of human intervention. Pugs not breathing well is a good example.
My shiba *always* wants to run laps around the apartment right after eating. Most of the time I can calm him down, but sometimes he upsets his stomach and 🤮 right on the carpet. 10 years old, still hasn't figured out the eating+running=vomit time.
Power Hour where Dan and Arin go to a dog shelter to promote a Empty the Shelters Day :)
That would be so great! I bet they’d love it 😃
And while all the adorable pets are being adopted, Suzie wanders out in the background and sneaks behind Arin with yet another cat
Arin: did..:did we always have three cats?
Suzie: oh yes totally
Dan: you definitely did
@@terrasilvershade5678 but they do have 3 cats....
YES
Arin realizing they got Grace’s needs wrong as the van was pulling away was comedy gold
And then making the exact same mistake with Molly
Grace, I fucked up!
Literally how did they not notice
@@LazyDogJumperCame here to say that lol
@hopepapernacky this is game grumps
I lost it when they got very emotional about Grace leaving for her new life and then saw that they sent her to the worst home possible. 🤣
I could watch Arin frantically yell at and pelt dogs in the head with balls, and Dan give disturbingly accurate information about dog's bodily functions all day; this needs to be a series immediately.
Agreed. MOAR!
Oh look a simulation of my literal job.
Dan's right, this is way nicer than shelters actually are
I guess it depends, I worked at one for a bit that was a literal run-down trailer in the middle of nowhere, and I've worked with one that was a lot like what they show here where they look through candidates to see who matches with each other best, and takes time to make sure the rescues get enough exercise and playtime. Although I find the nicer ones tend to be ones that are attached to actual vet hospitals since those tend to have more funds to support it.
@@MarianahsTrenchGal1 oh I just meant the facilities themselves. Ours is riddled with construction issues. Like the ceiling in our cat housing caved in during a bad storm recently. Luckily it wasn't in any of the rooms the cats were in but we did have to put out an all-call for fosters. But yeah we also try to make sure the animal is a good fit for the potential adopter. Our head of animal care absolutely nixes people they don't feel are a good match.
I will say it's definitely better than other shelters I've heard stories about. Even ones with better funding sometimes don't treat the animals well, which is a real shame.
As someone with no experience with shelters, thanks y’all for sharing a bit of your lives with us :)
Yeah this more like rescue simulator lol. The rescue I'm at is more detailed with the match making like this game is
Pro tip: You could have said the exact same thing but without sounding aw tis tick by not saying literal.
“Arin, please…” I love Dan’s concern for Arin’s behavior towards these virtual dogs.
He’s a cat person
Dan's become a puss
my name’s grace so when arin said “grace needs food grace needs food!!!” i was like damn ur right i should rlly get some lunch
And when they were upset that Grace was paired off with the wrong guy, did it give you relationship flashbacks? 😅
Good for you.
I’m Grace to and I was dying. I was at work and my boyfriend said “you’re going to love this episode.” I thought it was because it was about animal rescue which I like to watch a lot but now I see! Need to download this video and make some text tones lol
did you get lunch?
@@notsure1969 Whats wrong with you?
Dan screaming, "GRAAACCCCEEEE!!!" then followed immediately by their realization they fucked up left me in TEARS 🤣🤣🤣☠
I agree with Dan saying this game is more involved then pretty much any shelter. When I adopted my girl Jiro from my local shelter I had her junk shown to me when I asked the inmate working there if she was a boy or a girl, my shelter was so over croweded that it was "Pay your own price day" where you told them how much you wanted to pay for the animal you adopted. I paid 35$ for Jiro, they had me sign some papers and that was it. She was super skinny, and got me yelled at by my vet who thought I let her get that skinny. It was very much like "give us money we'll give you this dog we don't care." Kinda wish all shelters where like this fake video game shelter.
That's horrible, I used to be an adoption counselor at an open intake shelter and our adoption process for dogs was much more detailed. We didn't let a dog go until everyone in the home had met them, including the dogs that already lived with the family. We had dogs that couldn't go to homes with children, cats, or any other pets. We had dogs that were suitable for apartment living, and others that were suited to being outdoor working animals. As animal advocates, it was our duty to prepare the family for the best chance of success by giving them as many tools and resources as possible. The more steps that shelters take to pair up compatible dogs and families, the less likely they are to bounce back to the shelter or worse, get abandoned or put down. Giving dogs to just anyone without a vetting process is straight up irresponsible. (I'm Canadian, by the way, I don't know what other countries' processes are like.)
The process is pretty accurate to our adoption of our cat, we had a house to check everything. I’m in North Carolina.
"Inmate worker" besides just worker? Seems a bit extra. Be happy they have someone there atleast...
@@oliviak1992 I think it depends on the place. I find that non profit animal rescues are usually more involved and caring than most state shelters. And usually they try to have animals in foster homes more so than shelters so they get that loving home experience before adopting them out.
@@Jonesyy8 A lot of county based shelters have local inmates work there. Same thing happened in my county until they built a massive new one.
YES we need more animal based games to continue the legacy of Princef TAAANNNKKKSS
One can dream of the conclusion to The Dog Island.
“…heheheh, _show_ _me_ _ya_ _teef_ “
Glad I am not the only one who thought of that when I saw the thumbnail
Literally just rewatched that series twice this week
Please finish Dog Island!!! 🐶🏝️💕
@@requiemforameme1 that game was full of game grumps memes
Arin doing the 'THUNK; oops! with Grace was hilarious but Dan's yell when she was adopted killed me
Imma admit it, I had tears haha 😅😭
A masterpiece
"And what's your favorite Game Grumps episode, little Timmy?"
"I like the one where they talk about assholes for a loooooooooooong time!"
That could be any GG episode.
"That doesn't really narrow it down Timmy"
I love that Dan just dropped that bit of knowledge on Arin so randomly 😂 knowing what bloat is and how a dog can be affected by it is absolutely the kind of random insight i share with my friends and family and get funny looks for knowing about it lol
As a volunteer and a foster, the stories people have of bad shelters horrifies me. Not all shelters are like that but it sounds like too many are.
Save them Grumps! Save all of the animals! Hope everyone has a great day!
Arin saved those two turtles using construction equipment. I'd say he has a knack for it.
@@vigorouslethargy Exzackly, lol!
THANK YOU for the PSA on dog feeding and stomach flipping. No one told us about that and our dog died because he went on a run after dinner. It took less than a day and was incredibly sad. We didn't know why he was sick, and then it was just too late.
"How many animals are in the sewers?"
As someone who watches a lot of Hope for Paws, which operates in the LA area, I can tell you it's a lot.
Wtf?!
@@MrSpartan993 Cats run in there a lot. Every few weeks HfP rescues a cat or some kittens from either the LA river or down in the sewer.
@@buchiklop110 that’s good, but I wonder how many still die down there like during flash floods and such
@@MrSpartan993 I imagine thousands after all of the years. Just for LA I mean
Way more than there ever should be. I follow them too :(
8:20 one of my dogs died from what Dan is talking about. One night she had trouble breathing and even barking in the middle of the night. She had to have her stomach pumped. She was saved. But a few months later it happened again and no one woke up to help her. Since then I heard it can happen when they eat too fast or that sometimes they wont chew enough if they have to bend too far to reach the food. Ever since then, we got slow feeders and little stools for every pet, even the cats.
If you get another deep chested or large breed dog, speak to your veterinarian about a gastropexy or "tacking the stomach" when they're spayed/neutered.
thats what sucks. you can do everything right but life just fails to give everyone a chance
We also lost our dog to bloat. She was too old and didn't survive the drive to the vet. No one warned us about bloat, this was how we learned. So I'm very glad Dan explained it to 350,000 people. That's guaranteed to save at least one dog.
So did mine. It happened last year. RIP my sweet lady Cadence😢
Funnily enough, "I don't want to spend all this money on a fucking camera" was also Arin's business model IRL when it came to Dan being on camera during all those quarantine episodes.
"You have to _earn_ their [cats'] respect, Dan, that's the whole thing."
We've had our cats about a year. I find the best way to deal with them is to give them space when they want it, and attention when they want it. If they want attention & you don't want to give it to them, instead of ignoring them, give them _too much_ attention, and they'll go away on their own. 😂
Thank you for explaining why cats are fucking useless.
@@ronjones-6977 with that logic all animals are useless including dogs.
My cats bring me joy so they're doing their job excellently I'd say. I don't expect them to do more than sit around and look pretty, it's what they're hired to do after all
@@nejishadow in my household, my mom adopted them as her adopted sons, so they are my brothers and never cats for hire. We don't use them, they use us. (I'm not kidding! 😅)
I tried that on my because it's bedtime, and it worked. Thank you
I'm only in the beginning so far but Dan talking about getting Camilla from a shelter nearly brought me to tears when I remember it was a kill shelter. Then I really started crying when he said he'd love to get another dog

When Dan said "Oh, she knows" I immediately thought of him sitting down with his doggo and saying "Now that we have discussed what this is, It's time to go to the precautionary slides and pictures!"
I feel like Arin is playing all these simulators to find Dan a new job before he lets him go.
I’m deceased HAHAHAH
LOL very specific odd jobs. Trucker, working at an animal shelter, mowing lawns, wide range of jobs Arin has for him at least

Do you think Sonic shits?
I'll admit, Arin accidentally smacking the dog in the face with the dog house made me crack up so hard😂
Does this mean we might get a long awaited continuation to Dog Island and save our little brother??
They said they didn’t want to continue it cause the main character is based on Dan’s now-dead dog, and they’re not comfortable with the Yi Lu joke anymore
@@MorriganReads I didn’t know that
Thank you and I’m sorry
Damn this is the SImulated era of game grumps.
Dan and Arin are becoming simulator andys
I’m new to the Game Grumps (I know, I know 😂) but wow, I really like how they care about animals and I like how one of them (I’m still trying to differentiate their voices, I’m sorry!) adopted his dog! I adopted my big lunk too :) And I absolutely loved the Ribbit King series these guys did. They are extremely funny dudes.
They bothhave thier own channels listed in the description. Arin (egoraptor) has a bunch of old animations he did which are insane and funny. Daniel (danny sexbang) has ninja sex party which is his band making dumb but hilarious music. After checking them out alone youll never confuse them again.
Danny is the one who mentioned his dog. Arin is the crazy one, Danny is the composed one - if that helps. Lol. Arin yells a lot; Danny has a softer voice. Arin is "Grump", Danny is "Not-So-Grump" in other words. (I recommend watching Ten Minute Power Hour, it's hilarious and you'll be able to put a face to the names.)
Welcome 🎉😅
They also have another channel called 'The Grumps' where they do zany whacky stuff for the Ten minute power hour show they do. That is how I learned to tell them apart, cause it let me see their faces while they spoke. Welcome to the channel! I hope you find a barrel of laughs here! :)
Arin not reading the emails and giving away Jack, the dog that obviously had an owner beforehand and that they needed to wait for them to come by to get him(18:26), infuriated me so much 😭 Especially since Dan kept reminding him and then he still matched him with a new owner.
I would definitely watch more episodes of this. It’s so wholesome and chill
Arin: "oh no, we chose the wrong thing!" *chooses the exact same, wrong thing again*
Oh Arin, never change ❤
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this! I was waiting for them to realize 😂
Hearing the name Grace so often makes me wonder how "Let's Game It Out" would play this simulator.
Don't invoke his name like that 😭🙈
One thing about these simulator games is you'll NEVER see another human being modeled. I'm sure it's resource and time intensive, but man, it makes these games feel super dystopian and empty.
Internet cafe simulator stole all the human models
@@samiskindaokay2412 And even then it was mostly references to IRL public figures :D
But the world would be a better place if it was only doggos.
Human character modeling is actually pretty easy if you have the money for the right software.
American/Euro Truck and Lawn Mowing Sims have pedestrians so some must have escaped from the Cafe
“Good luck grace!” Me having zoned out while doing homework: um thank you?
$14 for an open box for a cat...meanwhile he's got *2 empty boxes* sitting on his helipad 😂
Clearly he should run an openbox business on the side. Pure profit!
Oh jesus, I don't think I'm emotionally prepared for this game.
6:52 Dan hitting us with the one-two reference combo:
Gasoline making the dog faster is a reference to their Teletubbies video I believe
The Slappers is a reference to the 'Fuck Mr. Hatcher' game
Honestly would love to see more of this! Bizzarely therapeutic
also as someone named Grace this was a very strange episode for me
Isn't it the weirdest feeling??? I have a pretty uncommon name, and there's an episode in which a character shared my name.
Hearing them - internet celebrities - say your name in front of millions of viewers is odd and delightful!
You may or may not enjoy Let's Game It Out, then... 😁
graces unite!
@@TetsuyaMcCuddin yes, we have our own playlist 😂
*Arin doesn't realize solid and outlined cat/dog mean different thing*
Oh yes, that's gonna be good.
And then they do realize & immediately freak out 😅
This shouldn’t be heart-wrenching because it’s a game but my god…
Watching Arin move around in this game reminded me of when neurodivergent people (myself included) sometimes bump into walls and door frames and other stuff
... i think that's just an all people thing
@@soulmana1010 it's more extreme for people on the spectrum. It happens regularly and even where we are well accustomed to or should be able to see the obstacles but our brain doesn't really register it at that moment
I don't know how many times a day I say "there's a wall/door/table/etc there" as I bounce off the named item.
The amount of times I just bash my skull off of the counter, or slam my shoulder into the door frame, in just a week... it's excessive.
average internet user rushing to overshare about their debilitating mental illness to strangers online
The mix of hilarious and utterly emotional could make this a really good series if they keep going with it.
Poor puppies. I watch so much content from others that mess around in games to be messed up and make profit but I think this will be more genuine but still have plenty of angry cursing.
And I work at a doggy daycare and boarding place, so not a shelter but similar so this is very fitting to watch on my break during my horribly early shift!😂
Furries shouldn't be allowed to work at animal shelters.
I usually can’t handle animal simulation games without crying, but they didn’t mess things up too much in this game and that made me happy.
We adopted a dog a few months ago that we named Jack and the one in the game looks just like him. I was not prepared for seeing pretty much the same story happen today and it hit extremely close to my heart.
Arin: This guy has no matches!
Also Arin: This woman has 3 matches!
Pretty sure they both shared some of the same matching conditions...
Okay... this one is adorable. I genuinely hope you guys play a little more of this.
Well I was going to comment something like “is this the spiritual successor to dog island in the Game Grumps canon?” But it’s nice to know many people did that for me.
Princef taaannxx may not of found her brother, nor did she complete her training in “*snif* *snif*” sniffing, but she did stumble upon a lone rescue shelter…
My mom was workin at school and this dog just walked onto the playground no one wanted her so my mom took her home and we have had her ever since that dog is precious she didn’t have a owner I think the owners moved away and just left her behind the cutest dog I ever seen
Dan's message at the end about adopting is so sweet!
To add onto the GDV discussion (bloat in dogs), if you have a large dog with a slim chest (think Great Dane, German shepherd, etc) you can have a veterinarian tack the stomach to the body wall to prevent it from ever rotating on itself. It is a surgical procedure that prevents a potentially life-ending emergency. This is known as a gastropexy and can be done during a spay/neuter.
10 minute power hour animal sanctuary/zoo visit. :)
The 180 of them tearing up as Grace leaves to "Grace, come back! I fucked up!" had me dying.
Puppies?! Now you're just teasing us, Game Grumps! Don't think the Lovelies have forgotten about Dog Island!
Love the simulator era of grumps this is very nice
Having worked in a dog rescue for ten years this is actually pretty accurate. Except combine this game with power washing simulator.
Animals looking for a home? I don’t know if i am emotionally equipped for this
I want this thumbnail as a canvas print above the fireplace.
i had a dog named Jack that looked very similar to Jack in this game and him having a send off by the grumps was pretty nice, love ya buddy!
I would love to see more of this! Oddly satisfying and just keeps my focus when nothing else will.
another thing you can do to prevent bloat (which is IN ADDITION to what Dan says and NOT a replacement) is to have an elective surgery where the stomach is "pinned" to the body cavity with a few stitches, preventing it from flipping over and causing bloat. This is more of an option for larger breeds that are especially vulnerable to bloat, like Great Danes.
They should like a "horror" mode to this game where it's just this, but realistic.
Bloat is such a real thing that lots of pet owners don't know about a dog at our kennels died from it while I was working it was absolutely horrible. thanks for spreading the word boys might just save some puppies!
This gives me Mother Sim energy when Arin kept having to clean the bottle over and over 😂😂
I fucking lost it at "she is strong on plow" XD
As an emergency vet nurse it's lovely hearing Dan educate about bloat we see it so often. It can be so time sensitive as well. So if your dog is showing symptoms (such as retching with no production and a distended abdomen) call your emergency vet asap!
Glad to see Arin and I were both thinking of ‘kenimals’ at the same time
I'm so proud of you Dan for even knowing that. A little more info, it's most common in larger/deep chested breeds. There is a surgery to prevent it. I have seen it in a dog as young as 7 months old!
I love how Dan wont usually call out Arins shit but in this game he definetly did... so wholesome for a group that have "GRUMPS" in their name
I used to work at the Austin Animal Center and it was the best shelter I’ve seen. While it had its problems, there were vets on site and we took care of vaccinations and spay/neuters as part of the adoption fees. It was a really big shelter too that took in all kinds of stuff. I wish more shelters could be that nice, but I know the only reason the Austin shelter was so nice is because it had city funding.
9:41 "That's why when I feed Camilla and then she's immediately like 'Let's effing party!' I'm like 'No...' " Camilla literally wants to "P-p-p-party until she dies" 🐶🎉💀
My dog, who is named Grace, is very thankful for you helping her out of the sewers and back into my house.
This game is so cute!!! Love to see a series
This game was beyond adorable! 🥰 Also I love how Dan encouraged everyone to go to a shelter to help some dogs! 🥰
YESSSSSSSSS i got this game when it came out and im SOOO excited for this series!
(It's not a series)
@@resileaf9501 i have a feeling it will be haha
As a shelter worker, I can vouch that this simulated shelter is incredibly nice. What I do like is the adoption process in the game is closer to how in depth we go for our applicants. Y'all would be surprised at how many terrible applications we get or mismatched animals-to-households. I know a lot of shelters are overworked and understaffed and can't spare that kind of thing though. So please be kind to your kennel staff; like Dan and Arin, we absolutely love our animals and want to get them to the best homes, quickly, but accurately.
please please keep playing this its so enjoyable
24:45 fucking took me out haha. "YOU'RE NOT GONNA GET ADOPTED IF YOU'RE SCREAMIN' LIKE THAT!"
“Grace needs food! Grace needs food!”
FUCK YEAH I DO, I GOT A POPSICLE.
i love how they kept the name grace for the first dog , makes me feel so involved
I absolutely love when you guys play these games
I think we all can agree that we need more of this 🥺🥺🥺
I appreciate that they put the name of the game in this title.
Idk how shelters work in other countries, but in the UK it's pretty normal for them to ask adopters a lot of questions and check if they're a good match for the dog. Shelters that don't are probably operating on an extremely limited budget and are overwhelmed by the huge number of animals that need their help. I wish all places could afford to be thorough, but it's not always doable.
Also, this game is really cute. I love watching these guys play animal sims. 🐕🐈
Please play more of this! Its really comforting
Please make this a series 🙏
Curious how this game is going to be, me and my fiance work in rescue and at the moment we have 4 dogs and 12 cats, 3 dogs and 5 cats are actually ours. Animal shelters are sad most times but finding them homes makes it all the better! Always rescue instead of buying from breeders!
I didn't say this yet, but thank you Danny for such a good time, I loved every minute of the up close and personal concert with you, Ninja Brian and the Super Guitar Bros. I hope that for your next concert, you could also try and make it to Marietta. Again thank you so much for the chance to see you guys perform and take care. You too Arin.
A series is coming soon… I can smell it
this is a very heartwarming episode of GAME GRUMPS
please continue this game GRUMPS!
I could really imagine just opening steam and seeing Dan have like 3000 hours in this game lol
"I don't know, do you they'll want to keep eating after today." The delivery is perfect
Are we just going to ignore the fact that Arin and Dan matched Jack with Gab?
💚😍😍💚
I can't wait for some talented animator to reenact the scene where Grace gets adopted and the Grumps chase after the van after Arin realizes he fucked up and adopted Grace to the wrong person.
This makes me want more Internet cafe simulator
Yes please
When the stomach turning happens to a cow a vet can flip it back (if they get there in time). To prevent it from happening again, it's sewn into place... including a nice button on the cows side.
The day you play Weed Shop Simulator 3 is the day i go extinct
More of this forever please and thank you!
I like how Dan said Otto probably doesn’t understand respect when dogs seem to have no understanding of it either. In my experience dogs either love you, or hate you because they’re scared. With cats, you really do gotta earn their respect because not only do they understand the threat level of another being bigger than you, they could just not like you. They have so much more personality
