    I used both Yarn Art Dolce (once) and Himalaya Dolphin Baby (many times) as they are the easiest to get locally here. In terms of specs they are identical. No difference in look, feel, yardage or weight. They are classified as super bulky but they have quite a bit of yardage and are thinner than a blanket yarn (which I think looks better). They also don't have a velvety feel and look closest to the Hobbi yarn. They are soft, and smooth. Dolphin baby sheds less then yarn art, but they both do and sometimes are hard to make into magic rings. Btw, they recommend 4.5 mm hook and that's what I'll use because I think the recommendation is in mind for amigurumi

    Bernat baby blanket is the same as the regular bernat blanket. The only difference is that they test the baby one for harmful substances since it's being used for babies. For amigurumi, the only reason to get one over the other is color selection

    Your videos are the best. Straight to the point, and the way you divide it makes it so easy to get to the info I need. I refer back to this video frequently and use it as a reference, so thank you so much for labelling each yarn brand so clearly, labelling the hook size, and making an example of each! It's so hard to find this information anywhere else. :)

      Me too! I watch so many UA-cam videos where they use Bernat or Premier yarns and we can't get them so readily here without paying a fortune in shipping... I've been using the Yarnart Dolce and I love that one. It reminds me of marshmallow flumps. Paintbox chenille is nice too but it does fluff off at the ends a lot. I have to use a lighter to seal the ends. I've been making the Mabel chickens and mine are so much smaller that the American versions due to the difference in yarns but this video has been great in understanding the differences. Thank you so much..xx

    I use alize velluto plush yarn as well as hobbii baby snuggle and honey bunny because it’s pretty much the only yarn i can get here! alize velluto is just as soft as the hobbii ones but it’s thicker! the recommended hook size is 8-10mm but i use a 6mm hook and it works nicely. the piece comes up a little bigger than with the hobbii yarns but not too big and i personally feel like it’s easier to work with

      @juliavanoosten1093 Fellow Dutch chrocheter here! I have thesame problem, but I recently found good quality thick chenille yarn online. It's called Chenille 6 by Lammy Yarns. It's made in Holland. I can't find the exact colour's I'm looking for, but at least it's good quality (it sheds less than the thinner velvet yarn from Durable). I bought it at Wolcafe in Schoonhoven, they also run a online shop so you could order it.

    I personally always use James C Brett Flutterby Chunky yarn just because it’s the cheapest I can get hold of. The only issue is how the actual yarn can come off the end of the piece (if that makes any sense) but is my top favourite. I’m considering experimenting with another though

    I absolutely HATE SweetSnuggles yarn. I was working for HOURS making a axolotl. When I was almost done making the axolotl, THE YARN KEPT RIPPING AND BRAKING. I don’t even think it’s able to even be CLASSIFIED as yarn. The fluff keeps sliding off and all I have left is this very very thin piece of string once the fluff falls off. I am a scrawny 10 year old and I have no idea why it’s so weak. Unlike SweetSnuggles, I LOVE Bernat! It’s strong, durable, and the fluff doesn’t fall off! I made a very cute turtle with my only two Bernat yarns. I’ve learned from my experience and know which yarn to pick now! :D

    • @maryanderson2073

      i have a yarn like that, and it works well once you get into the rounds, just be a little gentle. there are MR tutorials specifically for fragile yarn, so i'd suggest checking those out. as for sewing, i would suggest just pulling all of the fluff off and just use the thin string to sew the pieces on. just be gentle and maybe sew it on twice. it works, it's just inconvenient

    • @k.willis4800
      @k.willis4800 Місяць тому

      I prefer the loops and threads because it's durable, lightweight, and softer than bernat. If this video says otherwise about that I would think they are crazy. Loops and Threads yarn is perfect, but I don't think there is as many colors as the other yarns might have. I made a nice baby blanket though and despite the yarn being bulky it is quite lightweight. Other yarn I have used has caused me to accidentally crochet into the middle of a strand before and that's practically not possible with the Loops and Threads yarn. I care a lot more about how soft the yarn is so I can't even touch Bernat yarn. It doesn't feel as soft and unlike Loops and Threads, the Bernat yarn has an almost oily or greasy feel to it. Maybe it washes off, but I don't care about that. Both yarns tend to be machine washable although I have seen the non-baby version if Bernat yarn is hand wash only based off a different comment I saw. I don't care whether that is true because my Loops and Threads yarn is machine washable and fits all my needs and I couldn't imagine using a different yarn.

      A huge tip that has helped the fuzz to stay on the yarn for me is using a lighter to lightly burn the ends! Since chenille is mostly polyester/synthetic fiber it melts, which binds the melted fuzz to the thread and preventing the ends from shedding:)
