i want to know the essence of making two parallel stitches after inserting the elastic. won't this affect the stretching of the elastic?

1. It gives it a beautiful design (choice)
2. It helps keep the elastic in place so that it can never twist the other way round, that you'll now have to be resetting it
3. The gathers formed will be evenly distributed. Some parts will not gather more than the other
