    For everyone asking. You can use a predator 212cc engine (6.5hp), 12 tooth centrifugal clutch, 37 tooth sprocket. Cost less than 500 to do

      You can pick the motor up 2nd hand for $80-100 on Facebook marketplace. Im looking to build one, for under $400

    Where could I buy the metal plates for the spool

    • @overbuiltunderpaid3161
      @overbuiltunderpaid3161  4 роки тому

      We contacted a local engineering shop and got them to plasma cut plates to the size we needed. It is a really simple task for them so the cost is usually minimal. The other option is to purchase steel plate and cut them out yourself with a grinder or other tools.

    Hey, if one does not have access to any welding equipment what would be the best way to get a frame etc?
    Just wondering where you guys were located as well.
    Cheers

    how did you make the spool lot of guys have said to use a go kart axle and hubs. but yours seem a lot more simple.

    • @overbuiltunderpaid3161
      @overbuiltunderpaid3161  6 років тому

      We welded it to the axle. If you want to take the spool off at a later stage then the hubs would be perfect, but we tried to keep it as cheap as possible so just welded it on.

  • @danoleary5072

    Wicked! what are the diemensions of the spool? and how much rope can it hold? also where can you get the 4 way rollers from?

    • @overbuiltunderpaid3161
      @overbuiltunderpaid3161  9 років тому

      Cheers mate! Dimensions are an internal radius ( where the rope is wrapped around ) of 250mm, and it is 400mm wide. We cut the two sides of the spool out of 5mm steel and joined them together with 12mm rod. We pulled the 4 way rollers off an old 4x4 buggy we had so you could probably pick one up at your local motorcycle/ ATV wreckers for a few bucks. Hope this helps!

    What happens if you dont stop de motor in time, is there a safety or how does that work?

    • @900159
      @900159 4 роки тому

      Looking at the knots by the handle I would say it breaks the rope... then you tie the handle back on & continue! :-)

    hi guys i'm looking at building one myself i was wondering where you got the guide for your rope and the bearings and bearing brackets?

    • @alicecoopercss
      @alicecoopercss 8 років тому +1

      I am in the process of building one myself for snowboarding. I am using two pillow block bearings with a 1" bore so I can use a 1" solid steel rod for the spool axle shaft. As for rope, don't know, I am still figuring that out for myself, going to buy some and test.

    How did you attach your motorbike sprocket to the axle and to the spool?

    • @overbuiltunderpaid3161
      @overbuiltunderpaid3161  6 років тому

      Welded a disc to the axle and then bolted the sprocket to the disc. Spool was also welded to the axle.

    What is the engine from??

    • @overbuiltunderpaid3161
      @overbuiltunderpaid3161  9 років тому

      Jacob Kolodziej Engine was bought new, it was one of the only new parts we bought as second hand engines have a nack for never starting, so we imported it from china due to the super low costs.

    how did make/buy/get the chain cover??

    • @overbuiltunderpaid3161
      @overbuiltunderpaid3161  9 років тому +1

      Connor Williams We made it from an old aluminium coated plastic sign as it was easy to bend around the shape of the sprockets and it held its shape well once it was bent.

    Will that do a slalom skier ??

    • @overbuiltunderpaid3161
      @overbuiltunderpaid3161  6 років тому

      Hey Ryan, probably not fast enough for a slalom skier with this motor but if you put an 9-11hp motor on it with a torque converter I'm sure you would manage!

    What size centrifugal clutch?

    • @overbuiltunderpaid3161
      @overbuiltunderpaid3161  6 років тому

      The clutch we had on it is a go cart clutch (can't remember axle size) and was rated to about 8 hp from memory.
