  • We have made a point of coming up at least once a month to the property. This time we had a shipping container delivered so we could store some personal belongings and stuff from the old hunting shack we wanted to keep. We also loaded the U-haul with items we could donate from the cabin. So much weed whacking to do but....Phase One of Kamp Kuest is on track!
Thanks so much for hanging out with us!
    Cheers Colleen and Jonny

Those Echo trimmers are real work horses. I have been mowing multiple yards for a number of years and the Echo has been the best trimmer I've ever owned. I hope to get one of their chainsaws soon. I love what y'all are doing and am so jealous of your move to being off grid!

It performed great! That’s good news that you have used it for a number of years too! We will have to have you up when our campground is established. Enjoy your summer and cheers C&J

Just saying that we live in an apartment, but know the Manager - so we have a grill. ;) Holy weed-whacking Batman! Looks like a fun journey.

Be careful allowing DNR access! I've no issue in principle, but my friends near Atlanta(mi), allowed similar, through-access to state land beyond theirs, and it became an absolute disaster. The DNR contracted logging co. absolutely destroyed the access trail with heavy equipment to the point that they could not access their own property. Neither the DNR or contractor would fix anything as they claimed it was "already that way" which was a complete lie. Total nightmare.

I second this. Go look at other areas they "thinned out" It becomes a mess. Set some expectations with them. I support managing forest, but when they do it, their contractors butcher the roads and the area is a mess.

We totally appreciate this as we have heard this before and were told to document, video record and have a contract in place. Fortunately for us it’s a few years out and have the opportunity for great advice / stories like your before we commit. Cheers C&J

@@KUEHLKUEST That's the best answer I think. Also be careful of your gate. If the loggers can't fit their equipment through it they will knock it down or cut a road around it, leaving you to face the replacement/repairs unless you have it meticulous documented! Beautiful property by the way!
