My first born is deaf. I raised him before the internet happened, so I never thought of this. I had to advocate for him as he grew up, but it was done locally through whatever thing he was in at the time. I just showed people he was just like everyone else but he couldn't hear so we talked with our hands. I taught sign language classes at the high school for free. My simple message was that he was a kid first and not to be afraid of someone different. I can't imagine how it would be now with the internet. It is out there forever. I became disabled after my kids were raised, thank goodness. I can't even imagine...

It's one of those things. Yes they have needs that need to be acknowledged. But no that doesn't mean you're a saint for raising them. All parents who try to do what's best for their kids are amazing.

@@ATouchofHoney It's good for you to bring this up. Shaming kids on line, I would have never thought of doing that. It sure is a different world now. We used to have to fight for our kids to get to participate in doing things other kids did. I have heard there are more kids now with depression because of things being put online. This is important that you talk about this. I think you are doing this the right way. Hope your day is good.

Thank you. I just wish we weren't seen as saintly for being parents to children with different needs. It should be seen as something we do because life. Like parenting is hard enough without needing a round of applause because you do the thing that everyone does.

So many important points made here. It's definitely important to protect one's children and their privacy.
As always, I absolutely LOVE your drawing!

Absolutely! It hurts my brain that there are people who do anything else.

So many important points here!! I think we can all think of at least one "family channel" who are obviously using their children's mental and physical disabilities for views. Thank you for sharing this it's so important 💜

Absolutely. But even if you just go on TikTok. It's insane.

@@ATouchofHoney yeah I dipped my proverbial toe into tiktok but did not like that toxic tinge to the waters there (was that diplomatically worded enough? 😅)

Such an important and shared opinion. Although I am not disabled and I don’t think of my child’s unique qualities as disabilities, but rather special needs, I don’t share that part of my child beyond family and very close friends. I wouldn’t even of thought to video my child at their worst, even if just to share with professionals and most certainly not to share with strangers. On another note, that drawing of you and Ellie could not be any more adorable ❤️!

Excellent info as always, and I really do hope that people DON'T fill your inbox with kneejerk reactions. Love the new intro/outro images!

I hope so too but it happens. I just accept it as something that's par for the course.

My parents are the annoying type that will tell EVERYONE about my disability and what happens to me and what will happen in the future. Even the people that deliver the shopping get the full run down. It is super annoying!!!

Oh no Charlie! I'm so sorry. I really do not agree with that. Especially without consent. They don't understand what it's like to be dependent as an adult and then have the people you depend on putting you out there like that.

I agree with so many things you said here! Discretion is a very rare quality in these social media-filled times that we live in. I respect how you protect your children. So much respect!

I agree with all of your points! I’m not a mother yet but I wish to be someday. I plan on keeping their lives off of the internet out of respect for them and their journey. Btw, I absolutely love this channel and your animal crossing channel!
