I thought it was time we just did a whisper video, you know, back to basics. This video is really just a stream of consciousness so perfect for zoning out to 💆♀️ 💤 ✨
I figured I'd just freestyle on some of the things I was thinking about: my struggles with social media addiction, how nothing feels 'satisfying' anymore, discussing the benefits of a Dopamine Detox. Sometimes I feel like my mind doesn't belong to me anymore. I've felt locked into a cycle of consumption, and that I haven't been really giving my mind a chance to breathe, to do absolutely nothing. This weekend I'm going to attempt to give myself a chance to detox and feel some of the feelings that I've perhaps been ignoring. I'd encourage you to take some time to just be, your mind needs it 🧠 💫

During university I had the same problem with my phone. I realized it was the first thing I touched waking up and the last thing I looked at before going to bed. It also didn't help that too much screentime was actually starting to hurt my eyes so I really needed to stop. So I made the decision to only grab my phone after breakfast (I even bought an alarm clock just so I wouldn't use my phone lol) and I started to keep my phone outside my bedroom before I went to bed. It did help! I became more focused and after a few weeks of discomfort I started to adapt to this new routine. Now I still don't look at my phone first thing in the morning but I think it's because I conditioned myself not to. It's hard to find the balance between that serotonin and addiction but it can be done! Thank you for sharing your thoughs with us!!
it's such a struggle! To be fair last night I didn't keep my phone in my room last night so we're improving 😁

i'm severely adhd and my brain doesn't produce enough dopamine in the first place, but. i kinda fixed my own phone and social media addiction about a year and a half ago by getting really into just creating shit when im not working on homework. so now i just collect and obsess over creative hobbies. i started with knitting and drawing (although I've been drawing for years) and now,,, i do tatting (lace, although i have given myself tattoos lol) and origami and polymer clay and sewing and i'm trying to get into specifically historical sewing too. as well as knitting still! it feels so much better to obsess over something tangible I'm creating instead of just. consuming absolute garbage media constantly. bc ill never not be obsessive, i'm painfully adhd, but. doing something healthier with it.
gosh darn it, I need some hobbies! haha I feel like my indoor plants are starting to become a hobby although I only have 3 😅 But you are so right! I want to have interests and hobbies that I can engage in if my computer/phone was taken away from me. Thank you for sharing my friend, sounds like you're really creative and I'm so proud of you 🥰
Honestly was really great to hear I'm not the only one who feels like their attention span has been completely blown out lol. I've deleted apps off my phone in the past and been able to use my free time more productively but it's been really hard this past year. Even with life starting to go back to 'normal' it's been hard.
I think we all have to give ourselves a little grace given the past year and how tough it's been 💕

I was never able to put this into words but I completely relate to all that you covered. And I almost wonder if that's why I love camping so much - I really unplug and just use the time to relax.
