Today my instructor in SYFC said the same exact words ( 2:05 ). "If you want to be a fighter pilot, you better buck up". This sucks so much because I am trying my hardest but I know I will get my wings one day and maybe become a fighter pilot one day as well.
Just a tip, if anyone is interested in signing on as a pilot in the RSAF, being in SYFC during tertiary education and getting your PPL would boost your chances.

What is SYFC? And PPL?
@@KaijuNumberEight SYFC is the Singapore Youth Flying Club. Several Secondary Schools have it such as evergreen, which I am in. In SYFC for secondary schools, you learn how to fly on a simulator, glider building and rc flying. At poly ir JC level, provided your marks are good, they will teach you how to fly a Diamond DA40 and get your Private Pilots License. Then they'll gently push you to the airforce because they sponsored it. Also its completely free.

@dave gahan Do you know that PAF pilots volunteering for Syria in ' 73 War shot a claimed 22 Israeli jets ( Israel claimed only 11 ) without a single plane lost on their part ? Go on , check it out .

I generally have a positive view of Singapore, but I think their government is a bit too stuck in the middle ages with corporal and capital punishment for non-homicide crimes.
Korea has much more surveillance similar to East Germany and has harsher penalties as it switched to English law system(but death penalty no more carried out). Now Singapore is freer except for the political system.
This was probably made years ago yet it’s still so good. I love Singapore and I have living in Singapore and the community and the people. It’s just so great. And even though a lot of people don’t think about it a lot, it really happens everywhere. Even in the Sky. Flying has always stuck an interest to me and I want to say that the RSAF are so great. I hope I will have the guts to fly one day

also singapore FIR spread across Indonesian border-batam-riau.
Last thing I found it even stretch out to spratly even border with Philippines FIR, but Idk is it capable for military use or not. CMIIW

LCA Tejas and Sarang Helicopter is truly amazing. Aerobiotic Suryakiran was star show of the Dubai Airshow event. It shows efficiency of Machines. HAL LCH Helicopter is also best in class and economical and deadly beast.

But still using F-16? even different variant, basically same aircraft from child memory....
Not just the F16. in case you didn't realise the F16 has many different variants, and given its modular nature it's been upgraded many times. I believe this is the F16 C block 52+ (or 60?) which has conformal fuel tanks. Not sure if it has a JHMCS but if it does have a JHMCS then it has the same shoulder-launch capailities. That's tech which has been very recently developed.
Also, if you didn't realise, the F16 as we had first purchased was solely an air superiority fighter which could drop some unguided bombs. The F16 we have today is an almost completely fully multirole fighter - can fire HARMs for anti-SAM missions, can drop laser guided munitions guided by a targeting pod for precision bombing missions, can drop cluster munitions or fire AGMs for close air support missions. Pretty much the only thing it can't do is stealth and carrier ops.

When young I wanted to become a pilot but I have physical issues since the early days and cannot become a real pilot. Now I am very old and build and fly planes that don't have a pilot.

What is the washout rate for RSAF trainee pilots when moving on to combat aircraft?
In my days...4..or 5 made it out of 60..to 70 ! In one batch only 1 pass out ! Now..I don't know....
the washout rate for anything in the military is usually high. especially those vocations that requires top clearance

If you meet their requirement...they will make you a Singaporean ! Fighter pilots very hard to come by..some quality can't be trained....not just anyone can be one ! Imagine spinning yourself carrying 200 kg weights then recover and be able to know where you are in secs...

Not Block 70. RSAF flies basically the same variant as the Israeli Air Force F-16I, which is based on Block-52

Why RSAF when you have the RMAF to join? We do have Hornets and the Sukhois, don't let the politicians influence you. AFAIK the air force still maintains a very high standard and professionalism in their work.
And yes, the CO of Squadron 18 is a chinese if you are worried about race discrimination.

@@edmundtaiping Bravo , Edmund . The Malaysian Chinese have a long tradition of involving themselves in their nations battles . Regretfully , currently , their numbers in the ground forces could still be improved on . However , I am sure they will rise to the occasion should the need arises , just as it was during the Emergency .
RMAF does not discriminate if ur chinese. Unless ur more loyal to Singapore. Then go ahead and see if they want u there.
Singapore is very small country I dont see the use of air force. SGP have neighbouring country to provide protection. waste of tax payer money.
You cannot count on others for your protection. If you don't know why, look up what happened to Singapore during WW2.
In WW2, basically we were mass-massacred by the Japanese.. after the British failed to defend us. So, ingrained in our psyche is the need to have a capable defense force of our own.
