“Tassadar cannot evade my wrath forever” Tassadar: *evades her wrath forever by setting himself and the Gantrithor on a collision course with the Overmind*
I love how Kerrigan fucked up so much that Daggoth, the cerebrate that has always been supportive of you and her, tells you to go see what you did while he goes and cleans up your mess personally.
@@traxes2264 Probably because Daggoth is not out for personal power like Kerrigan, and remains loyal to the Overmind. Even when it has to be a reconstituted one. He also has seniority over Kerrigan and all other cerebrates. Basically, Kerrigan in way out of line seceding and forming her own swarm.
that end cutscene.... imagine it been adapted into like a pixar animated movie,a story of the lone zergling finding his way to survive the genocide of his hive, but then it ends with it finally finding his maker but its in the midst of a collision with a protoss carrier. movie ends.
If you read the lore, Zasz was kinda asking for it. "While Kerrigan fought Tassadar's illusion, Dark Prelate Zeratul approached the cerebrate and claimed to know Kerrigan's weakness. The cerebrate was lulled into a false sense of security and ordered its brood away, allowing Zeratul to approach even closer. This was Zasz's undoing. The prelate revealed zerg were vulnerable to the Dark Templar's energies and slew the cerebrate." Zasz wanted Kerrigan dead so badly, that it led to his death.
@@WhiteFangofWar This. I can totally believe that a being that thinks it's immortal would be willing to take what would normally be foolish risks with its life.
@@coxxen Yes, SC2 got rid of the cerebrates entirely which imo was a mistake because they were so unique and interesting. Now you get the cheesy run of the mill "insect queen" that controls the swarm. Oh how original.
I like how Daggoth takes the command once the Overmind is on pause, he’s like the Overmind’s right hand man, and becomes temporary leader if anything happens to the Overmind
Not sure if it was the intent but it's kind of funny how after this massive fuckup the Overmind just seems to forget about his "greatest creation" he spent the first half of the campaign hyping, he even takes away her Cerebrate.
Indeed. All this talk and five missions worth of work, and Kerrigan gets left behind during the big finalle; the invasion of Aiur. While I've only watched part of Heart of the Swarm's campaign it seems like SC 1 Blizzard kind of wrote themselves into a corner; Kerrigan, supposedly the overmind's ultimate servant, sits out what is supposed to be its hour of triumph. SC2 may've had some problems, but a good part of the Zerg story problems come back to game one.
Kerrigan was always supposed to be just a failsafe anyways. One that fucked up so monumentally, that wasn't deigned to be anything else but. Had Kerrigan not fucked up, she would've gone to Aiur as well and might have not survived.
Either he didn't want to risk her being killed by a Dark Templar on Aiur, or he was so angry about her failure in the fight against Tassadar that he sidelines her. Like an angry coach putting his star player on the bench after a bad game.
This got brought up on one of Giant Grant Gamings streams, but I love the fact that the Cerebrates in this game are all constantly busy. They don't wait around for *you* to give them orders, or even the Overmind. Dagoth just instantly jumps into action going "Okay, I'll handle the Protoss, you get rid of the feral zerg." They feel like an administrative body that's actually capable of managing the swarm, not just pure slaves to the Overmind's will. And more importantly, they feel like they're independent pieces of a dynamic world. The world isn't frozen, waiting for the player to interact with it, things are happening that they player will never get to see because. Makes the conflict feel more grandiose, and the zerg feel more like a competent threat rather than angry space-roaches.
100% this. I really liked the way the cerebrates were depicted in SC1. As you said, it made the Swarm seem huge and dynamic; not just a single army, but a vast interstellar swarm with many "arms". I also like that the SC1 manual explains how each brood has different specializations and unique strengths. Some were infiltrators, some were assimilators, some were particularly strong combatants.
- Um, Kerri, You know your cerebrate, Zasz, that used to annoy you? - Yeah? - HE'S DEAD! **In tears** *Kerrigan screaming in horror* - Gone forever, died a horrible painful death! Gone, gone, gone, just like your lover! - Jimmy's dead? - I just let my brood loose on him by accident when he was about to depart Char. Everyone you love around is dying!!! *Kerrigan and Daggoth keep screaming together* Hoping you got the reference.
Gotta love the dedication put into this project to make as faithfull as the original but with clear upgrades bit graphically and gamoley wise. And gotta love Nral for the time invested in these videos
Kerrigan, Daggoth and dead Zasz aside, this is the first time for me watching SC1 campaign using a SC2 engine, an amazing treat indeed. Usually I skipped some of Executor's new vids. Glad I didn't skip this one or maybe Tassadar might set a collision course to my house instead of the Overmind.
Daggoth: "Zasz is dead" Kerrigan: "What a shame as they cannot truly be killed" Daggoth: "Yes for they have found the way to kill Cerebrates forever! Now, after inspecting the energies used by the Protoss, we can give these energies to the Overmind who'll be able to resurrect Zasz and make us immortal like Xelnaga' Gods Forever!" Overmind: "Behold, my greatest Creation. They shall face the wrath of the eternal swarms, for the hour of judgement has come." Edit: Protoss: *screams of the protoss as they charge bravely to their deaths*
I think part of it is having gigantic units (or corpses) would screw with map design and readability. You'd be panning left and then the entire screen would be taken up by an overlord. I suppose you could have strategic zoom, but then you'd either have icons for zoomed out (which means you can't see the art) or no icons which annoys players.
I don't understand this mission, since they no longer had a cerebrate , why weren't they just able to regain control over the zerg broods pure and simple ? Or was it that they were controlled by their queens, or something ? I think this happened against once in Starcraft 2
