      Oh damn. You wanted a russian manicure but then forgot to make sure the tech you went to could perform a russian manicure. Are you in the states. The technique required for that particular type of manicure may not even be legal in your jurisdiction. Why? Because russian manicures heavily manipulate the area near the nail matrix. Damage to the matrix can be irreversible and result in an effed up nail forever or no nail at all. Be glad she didn’t try to give you something she isn’t trained to, or perhaps legally allowed to. ❤

      I've been a nail tech at the salon, but I always did my best for clients. For sure, I was scolded for being too slow
      But I was a beginner, so it wasn't a huge problem. Also, there was a problem with machines 🤩 I could make a client wait just because all of the machines are taken by other techs

    I was an independent tech for 30 yrs. We don't have anyone with their 'foot on our neck' saying "Hurry up! Aren't you done yet?!!" "No! You have to use cheaper products." "Push this style! It'll cost the client more!" We have control. We can honor our own ethics. We can treat our clients the way they should be treated. Leaving a chain salon was the best decision I made. Nicky is a tech with a conscience. She did a great job. Stick with her! 😊

    I do gelx, it’s great for damaged nails.. but it isn’t necessarily “healthier” it’s still the same chemicals that are in acrylics or traditional gels. The damage comes from improper removal, or bad techs that file away your natural nails during application. Finding the right tech is key, and it looks like you found it now 👏👏 yay!!

      same ! i get the gel x, i get like medium length almond. i used to get acrylic, & the places i used to go they would get either a press on nail or a nail tip-& pry the nail away from the natural nail. it hurt so so bad & i could see the layers of my nails peeling away. when i finally stopped getting acrylics-my nails got healthier. i am a CNA-i can work with the gel x no problem. my tech removes the nails every time soak off, it’s so much better

    • @catrice1296
      @catrice1296 10 місяців тому +33

      They probs used like mma monomer and then had to basically pry it off bc it takes like an hour or more to remove. So it does kinda matter what chemicals are being used bc some dont remove well so they cut corners and gouge it off instead. Using gelx and stuff means even if the next person is incompetent they probs still end up being less damaging to the natural nail.

    • @shayt8871
      @shayt8871 10 місяців тому +27

      Gel x is actually chemically different from acrylics for the because you’re not using monomer which can contain MMA or acrylic powder. My nail tech is the best thing that ever happens to me. Each visit I get a nail care baggie with a brush for cleaning under my nails and cuticle oil. After regularly using my oil I have 0 hang nails. Products matter

    Yaaaaassss girl you did exactly what I recommended in your last video!!! Not sure what it is about us private nail techs but once you find us you never leave!!!
    Nails should never hurt! Of course with anything that is done by a human mistakes can happen but they are RARE! I’m talking once to a person EVER…. But you should NOT feel pain during your nail prep, while your nail polish is curing in the lamp, or anytime after your enhancements are on.
    A private tech might be more expensive, but we’re providing a completely different service than you get in a salon. Especially ones like me that only provide Russian Manicure/Dry services. The health of clients nails ALWAYS comes first. We care about the goals of each client and providing an assessment, creating a plan of action, and making it happen!
    Anyone who is going to look for a new private technician- Request a few photos of their work or ask for a portfolio. Make sure to ask if there is anything the tech does not do. A lot of techs don’t do hand painted art other than some light line work and French tips. The best part is you don’t have to be afraid to ask if we can do something!!! Almost all of us love to be challenged when it comes to creating something special for our clients!
    I would highly suggest providing the technician with several pictures and letting them know specifically what you like about each photo. WE GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!!

    This might be a bit controversial, but you might think about giving your nails a break. Even with the gentlest and most professional removal, gels, acrylics and even polish itself can damage the health and beauty of your natural nails. As can Russian manicures which give you a very clean appearance, but remove the cuticle to a degree that can compromise the protection this essential part of the nail provides against infections.
    If you do take a break, apply a few drops of argon or jojoba oil at the base and tops of your nails after each hand wash (and a few other times throughout the day and do a deep 5 min warm oil soak for your nails once a week. It will take a few months to grow your nails fully, but they will be strong and beautiful for whatever you decide to do next.
    And yes, independent nail techs are amazing!

    My sister is a independent nail tech and she’s so great she always makes sure she makes your nails look good even if that’s not what you were looking for and she makes sure she doesn’t ruin ur nails more as u go to her more and more acrylic, gel , or just painting your nails will seem like they are helping ur nails

    Nail tech here🤗 please know that it isn't the product that determines "healthier" for your nails ... it's the nail tech if they know what they are doing, they can keep your nails from damage along with how YOU remove them and your up keep ❤ SO happy you love the new set

    I recently started going to an independent nail tech and the difference in EVERYTHING is amazing! From the prep to the sanitation to the finished look! My new girl will not work on nails with any sign of greenies or anything g that might hint at bacteria as opposed to a nail salon that literally will work on a green nail or with open cuts! I will never go back to a salon after my great experiences with my independent nail girly!!!

    thats what i akways got in LA. i got tired of trying to find a good salon. i think when you are a random client in a new nail place they just give you whatever tech is there but if you have been going there for months they give you a better, more seasoned tech. but i am glad you found a great nail artist!!!

    What did they end up looking like when they were finished?
    What charms did you pick, I’d love to see a photo please.
    The video cuts out before we get to see the finished set.
    Independent nail techs take more pride in their work.
    Plus they use better quality products.
    I need to find an independent nail technician myself.
    I’m not really happy with my last set that I had done at one of those other places.
    I hope you were happy with the finished set.
    It must have felt nice to be pampered for a change while having your nails done.
