    Totally with you on this.
Mystery Ranch has an excellent NICE system that is super versatile with different packs, it's a pity they do not expand on this system.

They need to bring back the Racer X. It was like this, but had an outer pouch like a day pack. Just add a dry bag and go. Think U.S. M 1928 haversack, but higher capacity and modern materials.

Cools post, looks like a really versatile pack! It would be a bit of a pain but I think I’d pack the saw with the bar down.

The problem with the bar down it snags and is a pain hiking hills mostly coming down step hills . The Eblestock has a gun sling that goes down it's handy but snagging up going down hill can catch you off

I think MR’s Pop-Up 30 or 40 Bag would be an interesting comparison. Rated to carry up to 80 lbs of awkward stuff along with up to 30L or 40L of additional gear in the built in pack. That lets you haul an awkward load like an Elk Quarter, 5 gallon Jerry Can, or Tools along with your normal hiking/hunting/camping/work gear.
Also, check out the Crossfire DG16 and their Load Sling, the Mule. It’s quite a bit cheaper than the MR Load Sling.

I recently purchased one of these on optics planets sale. They are currently listed at closeout cost of $160. I was wondering if you had any idea what the extra straps with two male buckles each at the bottom corners of the frame are for?

FYI im pretty sure the load sling that optics planet is selling has the updated hardware preinstalled. the downside is that it is a made in Vietnam variant.

Sorry friend, not for sale. It was a quick prototype for personal use and didn't put much into it.

@@fulltangtactical If you ever decide to make a few for sale I would definitely be interested in buying one. Great review. I'm getting ready to buy a Mystery Ranch Crew Cab from a private seller.

Yeti bought out mystery ranch, which means MR probably won’t be made in America for much longer. This rig has been discontinued. Optics Planet has the black model for $110 right now (frame and sling). Get ‘em while ya can, boys.

I talked with them on the phone yesterday (April 17, 2024) & the bag is not discontinued. They have no “end date” listed on their end. It's just out of stock. What WAS listed on Optics Planet was the international version (made it Vietnam or Philippines).
