Hand eye coordination is unbelievable, what an artist, what a lot of hours with a knife to get that skill and precision. Thankyou for the great video. Simple tools to produce such a beautiful weapon.
the notches on that bow are very intreasting.also i wanted to ask about the effective use of bamboo arrow heads.its known they exist and are used but little information is availible for them
I kinda like that style of Arrowhead. I think once it starts getting cooler here I'm gonna forge some but with a socket instead of stick on the end. Great job
Thanks for this vid. The knife is a parang. Very good to see it put to use making the bow and arrow. This video is beyond mere entertainment and goes into the anthropological documentation category.
I would gladly give this man my fattest pig and sheep for the knowledge of how to craft a bow and super sharp bamboo spears like this. (I can get those animals, my parents run a small farm in the country lol)
I love your videos & channel. Somtimes I forget to come back to it. A few questions? Do you go back to live at that place? Could Canadians retire there, housing & cost, safety so forth?
Yes, the Philippines offer special retirement visas. If you bring money with you, your always welcome. Plenty of retired foreigners are there. Safety is ok unless your in the big city's (Manila, cebu city). But you have to expect that some of your stuff will disappear from time time. Housing and food costs are low, unless u want exactly the same standards as in your country, you would probably pay the same or even more for it, because some products are simply not available there. I guess you could do well with 1k USD a month, but not in the city. Medical treatment can be difficult in the province's, it's just not the same standard as we know it. If you have something serious u probably need to go to Manila or back to Canada. I didn't decide yet if I go back... U want to try it first with a tourist visa, what can be simply extended by paying, for over a year staying in the country. Marius
MSL Bushcraft & Survival Thanks so much. Whew $1000 American is a lot. At one point Canadian ruled $ but doubt we will see that again. Are you meaning $1000 to live same standard? We would look for a nice clean 1 bedroom or even a nice bamboo weave house but bran new. Can a person buy property? A nice place along coast like where you stand to take picture there & have locals build a nice traditional 2 bedroom home that we could plant & raise food catch fish so forth live a nice traditional life.
Tossdart Well, 1000USD to life nicely. Means, living in a two room stone-built apartment (local stile) with air-conditioning. An own motorbike, some beers outside and eating mostly outside. In one of the province capitols. Living in a native hut (bahay kubo) out of town should be A LOT cheaper. But also bit boring over time. No, u can't buy land as a foreigner. But u can lease land, I would simply rent...
Wow, glad to see a palm bow made with a rattan string and natural fibers to bind it. Is this in Palawan? Or Mindoro? Negritos elder? Why did he make a double notch and put a metal chain link between the notches? Since it was not engaging the bow string. Thanks for posting this, I learned a lot. The bow got stronger as it dried and seasoned but could still pierce a coconut husk when green and fresh, wow.
Hi, And thanks for the upload. I really wonder whether the horrible rattly sounding metal on these types of bow are necessary. I am far from a bow expert, but I would have thought if the same care and skill which was put into the string and arrow were put into the ends of the bow itself it would sound better not to say for sure be less likely to scare away any animal in a group!
i think it was filmed somewhere in the east /north of phillipines facing the pacific ocean.. im not sure if it was in aurora province where the agta tribe belong...
All "primitive" people were likely better craftsmen then us. They were also not more stupid than us, they were smart! What they did not have is modern technology but what we don't have is their technology. Way to much forgotten and lost. The bow is prime example of this. If you watch survival teachers they talk about making a bow to get your food but that is wrong! Make an Atlatl and learn to use it before you go!
What's the machete made out of? I have an authentic Khurkri made out of a truck leaf spring in 1913-14. It was carried in both World War I and World War II. The stinking thing is so strong it can chop through metal and I've only had to sharpen it once in 17 years.
+Matthias Southwick Also truck leaf spring. I never tried to chop metal with one of those Bolo Machetes, but I saw a Blacksmith testing one of his Bolos. He also chopped into a piece of unhardened steel, no damage to the edge at all ... Was cool to watch ... !! Marius
Nice! The Khurkri I have is a little wider, thicker, and a little shorter than the Bolo. I'd love to have one of them too, it looks easier to use for carving stuff, this thing is heavy and cumbersome for little jobs. It was meant more as a weapon and large job tool.
No, its from Philippines, southeast Asia ... Interesting with the materials, I saw a video here on youtube when they used "black Palm" for bow making in the Amazon. The material here looks the same. I am wondering if the same Palm tree is available in Southeast Asia and in the Amazon ... Marius
I do not give a bad opinion about the video because it is great, but I would like to find a video about how to do these things without the need for a knife like the aborigines did when the forge did not exist, or how to make one in nature
I would not think that a bamboo arrowhead could go right through a tree and a coconut shell like that. I wonder why they don't use metal or use fletching? I'd think the arrows would have a much better range if they were heavier and had some fletching.
+Paul TheSkeptic Well, no metal is used because the Titel of this video is Primitive Bow and Arrow. And fletching would be good for long distance but aren't realy necessary on short range. Don't forget that they don't have to shot far like in medieval warfare, those guys are in the jungle. There is always some trees or bush close by... But I am not sure if they have also fletched arrows or not at all. Marius
Where is this in the Philippines? If it's closer to my place, I'm definitely visiting to learn this shit. Grew up in the urban part of the Philippines so this fascinates me.
Gergely Nagyfugedi I dont live with them permanently. But I live a few month each year in this area and drop by for a couple of days to visit them and learn from them ... Marius
Huh...I wanna learn to make a bow with materials where I live...we have alot of pine as in pine needle trees but idk if that would work? I'd have to cook the sap out of it.
hey i have a problem with the people i can't stand them when i was young just being in my room made me feel good i want to get out of the city and finally breathe in fresh air and i dont mind working hard but i want to know is there a place in the world with alot of nature but stays cold all year long????
looks like it.... around mindano visayan parts . i lived in mindanao but i know quite a bit of Philippine life.... culture, music etc and that guy uses bows and arrows to hunt... in my country there are still tribes that are living and triving..
So awesome!! If my grandpa still alive for a little longer, I'll really wanna learn more about bow-making~~
What an experienced artisan he is. Amazing what can be made using a single knife!
Can't wait for when he's going to slay the Ender Dragon
Hand eye coordination is unbelievable, what an artist, what a lot of hours with a knife to get that skill and precision. Thankyou for the great video. Simple tools to produce such a beautiful weapon.
Not hard that’s like saying using a pencil is hard.
Great video. I was lost on the loop he made on the bow, but the rest was great!
the notches on that bow are very intreasting.also i wanted to ask about the effective use of bamboo arrow heads.its known they exist and are used but little information is availible for them
I like to see that these guys are just taking from the trees what they need and are not cutting them down that saves the tree thank you
I kinda like that style of Arrowhead. I think once it starts getting cooler here I'm gonna forge some but with a socket instead of stick on the end. Great job
I love how they have cute piglets just walking around
I am pretty sure you love nature so much. I do.
Where in Philippines is this place. I live in Cebu, sure want to learn this skill and teach my kids. its a lost art.
Are these the Philippine people ive referred to as Negretos?
Love the older gentlemans yellow shirt. Dunno who's on it but that "Hey girl how you doin?" Look is amazing.
That man is From the land of Traditional Survival Country 😄
Im honestly dying to get lost in the woods
Then you'll honestly die for being lost in the woods aha
If you have a wooded backyard or a place that has a forest you can just go there for a few days and practice primitive skills
i have a project to do in 12 hours and here i am watching some guy making a pirimitive bow !
thanks for sharing your life story mate, touched many souls.
Wow, very impressive! It penetrated a coconut shell!!! Now that's bad ass!
Thanks for this vid. The knife is a parang. Very good to see it put to use making the bow and arrow. This video is beyond mere entertainment and goes into the anthropological documentation category.
GREAT video!!! That is real bushcraft
how ya doin
Oh!!!This knife is very sharp .
Graphics are incredible
Really enjoyed it- great tunes btw!
Omg thats in Philippines yes finally I can understand what the other people are talking about
sa Pinas man ni gi buhat. I could tell that this is my home country... :D
Did i understand that correctly, he wove the fibers around the rattan stick to make the rattan and the fibers into a bowstring?
+Kajan451
Correct
MSL Bushcraft & Survival Thank you, very much :)
Great vid! what is the poundage u think?
Kajan451 pretty much
yeah thats how we do it in south east Asian countries. even we make silk threads like that
I would gladly give this man my fattest pig and sheep for the knowledge of how to craft a bow and super sharp bamboo spears like this. (I can get those animals, my parents run a small farm in the country lol)
Ok, sure ...
really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing.
I think i'll try to make a bow of my own!
I want one,if u could bring one back that would be awsome. I would back engineer it and make more.
not a weak bow, he can kill a wild boar with it. I once have a similar bow, but the tip of the arrows are made of flattened iron
just came across your channel... instant subscriber!

This video is Awesome
good tips bro
cheffin steffin + that is a kind of machete that we called itak
i know it because i'am filipino
i think it was filmed somewhere in the east /north of phillipines facing the pacific ocean.. im not sure if it was in aurora province where the agta tribe belong...
👌Great stuff really... I like..
bruh the arrow PIERCED through the wood
Now that is awesome
i thought iron arrows pierces through the bark
Doesn't really seem all that primitive to me, quite a bit of craftsmanship went into that one and seems quite effective... :)
do you know what primitive means? its hand made, very primitive
primative is not necessarily just hand made but is also native or indigenous to non-modern craftmanship. Primal methods such as tribal or clan
All "primitive" people were likely better craftsmen then us. They were also not more stupid than us, they were smart! gees look how close he was to that bit of wood
Very Good
i want that knife...
Go away Shellby

Классно )
Wow, din`t expect that much power. Awesome, I want a bow like that.. :)
Im proud being a Filipino
make a bow from tightly woven kelp, the salt from the water helps as a strengthener.
Amazing. I saw bows and arrows made of the same material in the Bolivian amazon! Is this video from Brasil?
No, its from Philippines, southeast Asia ...

Panama also.
I have 3 of them with arrows
Lights are lit green around the world;meanwhile the people who believe/live what you preach are doing their thing.
isn't that knife similar to a kurki machete ?? Awesome :)
the background music really takes away from the tranquility of these manual tasks...
I do not give a bad opinion about the video because it is great, but I would like to find a video about how to do these things without the need for a knife like the aborigines did when the forge did not exist, or how to make one in nature

It was a banana tree but that survival bow and arrow is pretty useful.
Banana trees are pithy, like poke or sumac on the inside. Plus the coconut was old and rotten.
I made e bow and arow
I wana go there i could build sooo much wepons and huts
Why do they put a metal ring on the bow tip? Its acting like the opposite of a silencer creating vibrating noises during the shot.
I am not sure. I asked them ofcoz, they told me it's noise signals to the other hunters that one of them is shooting...
Regards
Marius
Well i guess if they were group hunting they wouldn't want a friendly fire incident.
he got hired in minecraft
Where is this in the Philippines? If it's closer to my place, I'm definitely visiting to learn this shit. Grew up in the urban part of the Philippines so this fascinates me.
Amazing video. Do you live among these, native people? Greetings from Hungary
Gergely Nagyfugedi I dont live with them permanently. But I live a few month each year in this area and drop by for a couple of days to visit them and learn from them ...
Marius
What country is this recorded in and can any one watch him make a bow in person
Is this from, philippines??????!????

He is in the Philippines. At 4:42 look at the maker's shirt it said "Ikaw pa rin."
Jamie Ortiz b
MEooh O.O
TANDUAY!!!!

No. Just an overly political budgeted campaign from the Philippines that reached Zimbabwe.
lool @ 3:50smthn the roosters like "my jam"
Cool
Look at that, how that man uses his long knife as a 1knife tool option. Who said you can't use a long knife to do fine work.
Huh...I wanna learn to make a bow with materials where I live...we have alot of pine as in pine needle trees but idk if that would work? I'd have to cook the sap out of it.
+MMBNMalternateaccoun let me guess....your in alaska?
endost gamein No I live in tennessee actually. We have alot of pine trees. Really messes with my allergies.

Antarctica stays pretty cold year round I think.
Those arrows may not be accurate, but they seem to do the job well :)
why do you say they are not accurate? they hit their marks.
Actually I was wrong to comment that, should have actually asked about their accuracy, before making comments about their accuracy and just assuming.
+Strathian Anslow
I was impressed with how well the bamboo arrowhead penetrated. I would not have guessed they could. Be well my friend.
I'd like to purchase an authentic set for a big man with a 32 inch pull. How do I go about getting a complete set made for me with 12 arrows?
we need that man and a lot of equipments to survive , we died :(
พระเจ้า ธนูไม้ลาน กะจะทำไปยิงช้างรึไงเนี่ย?
Do you live in the jungle if you do that’s real cool
..but how do you make that 'primitive' metal sword? :)
好厲害
Nice video, are you back in the philippines?
guitarland24 24 Not yet, I just didnt have time to edit the video ...
Incase nobody cared to point it out the man making the bow is wearing a Jakie chan T-shirt
Как называется большой нож ? Хотелось бы узнать характеристики ?!!!
Is that Ricky Gervais on his t-shirt
deadly weapon
At 2:20 it looks like his shirt is winking. ;)
May I know what materials you used for the bow the strings the arrow tips and the lenght of the arrow?
+Fire Mist
Its written in the text box below the video ...
