      Treva Graham I play with my RCs constantly, but most of them are Walmart muscle cars that I enjoy drifting in my living room. Sometimes, a cheap one is absolutely fine. Enjoy your RC, and don't worry about it being expensive, just so long as you enjoy it. 😎👍

      Trimming the rear fenders isn't too bad. You can also remove the rear tire to lose the weight back there. Upgrading the shocks will help fender rubbing too and is necessary if you want to be able to control the car.

    I have the smax version of this. Metal motor spur gear it comes with sucks, already been grinding down perhaps I got a defect. and the brass motor pinion 2. only been a few weeks.I dont bash it either.My A959 metal gear and metal pinion is still fine after 5 month, Mesh is dead on just weak"er" metal. Upgraded the servo already and wheels 1/10 12mm. But Its well worth the money,4 any1 looking its basically a slightly Bigger A979 with steel gears and diffs but they dont fit ive tried lol . same 390 motor diff pinion I believe.I have an A979 body it fits just drill the another set of holes lil wider. Its runs great other than the cheap metal gear.And 1 of the stock wheel broke its center baby driving in the parking lot.Other than that its great. Great reviews Flying Ryan Rc, I always watch ya vids.2

    • @pyang4155
      @pyang4155 6 років тому

      The esc is coated. The servo and motor is not waterproof. Its meant to be driven through wet areas, but not streams or submerged. But... I've read someone claimed they lost the car under ice in a pond and the car still ran 3 months later after the ice melted. There is also a video in Chinese showing the car running under water in a fish tank for several minutes. I've personally driven the car into a pool and tried to drive around the bottom. Couldn't due to buoyancy. Had it in for a few minutes. Pulled it out and kept driving it around immediately. I've now rinse the car every time after I'm done playing with it. Gets all the dirt and grass out easily. Then I hit it with the air compressor to get the last bit out and dry it. No issues yet. But every car is built differently and your mileage will vary.

    • @pyang4155

      I have 4 of them. They are fun with others. If you want more fun out of them you have to upgrade the shocks and servo so you can control them better. Just 1 will improve the car a lot. But both will be better. This car doesn't have enough speed for jumps though. You get a little air but nothing exciting. I don't see upgrading the power/speed being worth it if it comes out to the price of a brand name rc that will do that same thing in stock form.

    • @pyang4155

      Just bought mines recently and it does come with the on/off switch. It's optional. There is a jumper that turn the car on if the battery is plugged in. You can remove the jumper and plug in the supplied on/off switch if you wish. The on/off switch does become harder to use with dust and water getting in it.

    If you get a 1600 battery instead of 1500 will it make the car go faster or will it just take longer to charge but the battery lasts longer?

    • @theimacman
      @theimacman  6 років тому

      The "mAh" rating of the battery is essentially the "gas tank". A 1600 will give slightly longer run times than the 1500. It will not make it go any faster... in fact, it might slow it down a tiny bit, due to the extra weight of the battery.

    • @theimacman
      @theimacman  7 років тому

      There is simply no answer to that question. There is no one "best" RC car. And, if you want speed, you sacrifice durability. The faster you go, the more likely you are to break parts. This Short Course truck is definitely not best at off-road though. For off-road you want a buggy or monster truck.

      Better in what way? They are entirely different types of vehicles, so it's impossible for me to say which is better for you and your needs/wants.

    would you recommend this or a Traxxas 1/16? I have a Traxxas Rustler VXL 1/10 that I am very pleased with...so im a little hesitatant when it comes to buying a different brand of RC. would you recommend this truck? thanks

      Does Traxxas even make anything smaller than 1:10 scale? This Rocket truck should be quite durable, thanks to the metal parts, but it's a tad bit on the slow side.

      Driving RC buy the Traxxas so you can get parts and a better design, and you can get a brushless too.

      I have the Remo and my brother has the Traxxas. The Traxxas 1/16 is better out of the box at around $200 compared to the Remo's $60. But adding $12 servo and $25 shocks the Remo comes close to the Traxxas. Drag race they are very close. The Remo jumps off the line better because it is lighter. The Traxxas is very heavy in comparison. The Remo uses a brushed motor with 2s lipo. The Traxxas a brushless motor with a NiMH. The brushless motor is better than the brushed motor and the lip battery is better than the NiMH battery. But I still think the Traxxes is stronger. The weight just holds it back. The Traxxes can use a 2s lipo as well but you have to buy that separately. Even with the Remo upgraded shocks and servo it is hard to keep it in a straight line and a bit harder to control than the Traxxas. Adding weight to the Remo may help with this. The Traxxas will easily keep a straight line and controls a bit better but it has one major flaw. The Traxxes like to flip. Slowing down to turn prevents this but the Remo doesn't need to slow down. The Traxxes has thinner tires. Maybe grippier. It's heavier, giving it a higher center of gravity. And more power. The Traxxes comes with oiled shocks but the weight of the car offsets this. We added heavier oil (same as the Remo) (1000 cst). This helps the flipping issue at speeds and sharp turns, but the Traxxes can still flip. The power and grip is part of the problem because I think it likes to bite when you turn and that's what causes the flipping as well. Overall I like the Traxxes a bit more and it preforms a bit better but for the price the Remo is good also. If money is not an issue, get the Traxxas. If you want a cheap car to bash the Remo is better. I don't like bash expensive RCs and replacing parts all the time. A cheap RC, I don't mind as much. The other factor for me is having multiple cars/people to play with. It's boring by yourself. I got 4 Remo cars for everyone to play with. I wouldn't even think of doing that at the price of the Traxxas.

      I would imagine so... it comes with a Li-Ion battery, which is pretty much the same as a LiPo.

    If I get this car. And got new suspension. Would the tires still rub?

    • @theimacman
      @theimacman  7 років тому

      No idea... guess that would depend on if the new suspension changes the height or width of the wheelbase.

    • @pyang4155
      @pyang4155 6 років тому

      No. If you get oiled shocks. The Remo upgrade shocks are taller (even at the lowest settings) than the stock shocks. They are stiffer too so the body/tire won't rub as much. You can use heavier oil in the shocks to help as well. You can also set the shock higher on the shocks themselves and when you mount them on the chassis. The other think you can do is remove the spare tire. That will take the weight off the body.

      I reviewed the A959, which is essentially the same hardware. They just set it up a bit differently for different types of vehicles. I think you can get an idea of what to expect with each from my A959 video though.

      A lot of RC models don't have on/off switches. In that case, just connect or disconnect the battery in order to power it on and off.

    have you tried to run it in the mud

    • @theimacman
      @theimacman  8 років тому

      No, I haven't, but I wouldn't suggest that with a brushed motor. Mud puts a lot of stress on the motor, so that would be a better job for a brushless motor, and maybe even a bigger scale, like 1:10.

    • @pyang4155
      @pyang4155 6 років тому

      Getting stuck and burning out the motor is the big issue. As for getting dirty the issue is the center driveshaft. Its opened and if that gets mud/rocks stuck in it, you can break the shaft. The differentials on the front and back are sealed. I get grass and weeds get crammed around the center driveshaft all the time.
