Hello again, everyone! Thanks so much for checking out this video today. :) I'd love to know which format of watercolors you personally prefer: pans or tubes? And why?
That sounds awesome! I've seen other artists do that before and really want to try that out myself at some point! Thanks so much for checking this video out and commenting. :)
I use all sorts of mediums for my art work but I am now trying to learn more about watercolor. I found your video very helpful, it is surprising how each brand of watercolor paper varies so much and how the paint can look so different, thank you for your help :)
Yes! The outcome varies a lot from brand to brand, and even color to color. Plus there are also the variables of the type of paper used and even other things like the weather in your particular place and time that makes paint dry slower or quicker. All of these make watercolor painting a challenge, but it's interesting and extremely enjoyable once one starts getting the hang of it! Looking forward to more of your amazing work! :)
While lifting colors were so much easier on the Canson (cellulose) paper, but that also mean that it is going to be harder to glaze/layer on it, because the layer underneath will much more likely to be reactivated. On cellulose paper, basically the pigment sists on top of the paper surface, while on cotton paper, the pigments are absorbed in to the paper. Arches (cotton) are so much better in that way. Great comparison video! 👏
Yep! Yep! You're SO right, Elga. It's very annoying to do glazing or any type of layering on Canson and I've also found this to be the case with mid-range/mid-quality papers such as Stonehenge and some by Strathmore. That paint moves around, even after it's fully dried. On Arches, though, as you say, the paint absorbs way faster and it won't budge or re-activate (some pigments lift more than others- but for the most part it stays put). I've found I can do layering and glazing with much more success on Arches. Thanks so much for watching and taking time to leave your valuable comment! Wish you a lovely day. 🙌🌞
Hey! Thanks so much for checking out my first swatching video and for subscribing! I appreciate it a ton!! :) I've checked out your channel and have subscribed, as well. Look forward to more of your videos!
Thanks so much! :) Thinking of doing another special video for the 1,000 mark, but not quite sure what. Maybe a Q&A or Day in the Life type vid? What do you think?
Hey Pavan! Thanks so much for checking out this new video of mine. I really appreciate it and am happy to hear that you enjoyed it. :) I've subscribed to your channel!
Hey, Danielle! Thanks so much for checking out this new vid of mine. It is! I love cheaper alternatives, as well, though I think that it's because of my particular way of painting with watercolors. It's tough to save the whites, for sure!
Hey, Rod! I'm so glad to have met you over at Rick's premiere. :) Your work/channel is awesome and I've subscribed, too! Look forward to more of your videos.
Hey Sneha! Thanks so much for checking out this new video of mine and taking time to comment. I appreciate it a ton. :) Happy to hear you enjoyed it. I have more watercolor videos coming up!
@@ErikaLancasterArt that would be cool, but it might be more for nerdy tech guys (like me) than beginning and intermediate artists. Another neat thing might be to watch a painting from the brush's perspective. You could mount a small camera on your wrist or hand and keep it pointed at where the brush meets the canvas. You could make it a time lapse video, and people would have to guess what it is before they see the whole thing at the end.
Ah! That would, indeed, be a beautiful thing to watch! :) I would have to do a lot of prep work to see how I could make that work (and not get paint all over my camera-I'm not one of those super clean artists), but I'll definitely try it at some point. Thanks so much for the idea!
@@ErikaLancasterArt yeah, at first I thought about a small camera on your brush, but then I realized that you can't switch the camera every time you switch brushes. So I figured putting one on your hand/wrist would be easier. Not necessarily easy, but at least easier than putting one on your brush. :p
Hello again, everyone! Thanks so much for checking out this video today. :) I'd love to know which format of watercolors you personally prefer: pans or tubes? And why?
I buy tubes and then make up my own pans, I find it easier to take them out with me that way plus I love making up the pans!

Do you work your own cameras, or is someone on the other side of them?
Does my cat count? LOL :) I do it all myself. Would you be interested in a video about how I film my art videos?
