Awe thanks would you do a video of all the ones I just watched nobody actually opens up the thermos and stuff that’s the best part I can still smell the inside of them haha
@@ericaschannel2599 Oh, yeah! It has that delightful old vinyl/plastic/soup smell! Transports me back to the Elementary School lunch table every time! ☺
I still have a couple of the plastic 80s lunchboxes. I have a Mario Bros, a WWF one and a Battle Beasts one. Only the Mario still has the thermos still in it. Nothing beat a school lunch in those things!
I had a Roadrunner lunch box and my brother had a Peanuts lunch box when we were kids. A neighbor girl had a Bugaloos lunch box. Wish I had them now. They'd probably be worth some money to collectors.
I have recently gotten into the hobby and I must say I thoroughly enjoy it. At 44 years of age He-Man, GI Joe etc.....really appeal to me. Happy to see others appreciate them for what they truly are being time capsules and works of art !
I've owned 3 Lunchboxes in my childhood. My last was a " Masters of the Universe" with flip n sip Thermos I picked out at the store MYSELF. When I 1st saw the commercial for flip n sip made for kid's Lunchboxes in 2nd grade, I WANTED 1 right then & there. It would be about 5th grade before my wish was granted. Lunchboxes were the "bling-bling" of the time, a status symbol with appealing perks, not having to wait in line to lunch chief among them. 😭They just don't make'em like that...anymore😔.
What a cool story, @@noahpartic7586 - I love to hear things like this! We devoted an entire episode of our audio show to the memory of great lunch boxes. Give it a listen if you have an opportunity! genxgrownup.com/bt_lunch_boxes/
@@GenXGrownUp Thanks for the audio link, I just finished hearing it. Interesting. I remember grownup Lunchboxes too as a kid, way bigger than what I used in my childhood & not as decorative...nothing that can't be remedied with a favorite bumper sticker or something like that. Lunchboxes used as weapons in schools😱? WTF, I've never heard of this before, unthinkable. Kids Lunchboxes were our bling-bling & using such for violence was out of the question lest they be taken from Us by grownups & who wants that?
I had the red plaid and Space 1999 boxes. The one I really wanted but could not get was Superfriends. Finally bought it a few years ago. Fall was such a good time to be a kid. Lunch boxes for sale in September and boxes of Halloween costumes in October! Now, sadly, it is Christmas decorations before summer is over.
My lunchbox was, the soccer team cosmos, and the player was pele on the lunchbox, performing a back kick, was one of the pictures on there, awesome lunchpail.
Awesome!!! I saw so many that I lusted after in my youth! Whelp, now I have another stop on the next family road trip. As long as I can talk the wife into going. ;)
Was hoping to catch a glimpse of my lunch box, I just remember it being a metal Garfield one- loved that lunch box and was sad when my mom got rid of it due to the rust. Seeing a few of the ol' metal tv dinner trays brought back a lot of nostalgia for me, I had a Strawberry Shortcake one and I think my brother had a Knight Rider one.
There was many a lunch box, but the one I had that I remember the most was my Superman II lunchbox and thermos. Many an infidel shivered to my awesomeness.
I ended up scoring a second thermos for my Six Million Dollar Man box. The second one isn't is a good a shape, but the screw-on lid was better, so between the two I made one great thermos and one beat-up thermos. But they both live in my SMDM lunch box right here behind me on my shelf.
The strangest metal lunch box I heard of was made to look like a British Red Box, for kids who wanted to pretend to be members of Parliament. The hinges were on the same side as the handle, just like a real red box.
I recently found my old lunchbox. Dukes of Hazzard. The one I have is the one with coy and vance on it. Any idea where I could get a value on it or possibly sell it?
This museum have the 1973 mattel Sizzlers pit box ? Looks like a lunch box but is actually a vehicle carry case. Is vinyl, has white 9 compartment shelving insert inside, with a port window for a 2D battery car charger to peak thru. Cant show pic here. Also; what of the 1970-71 mattel--plastic sizzlers lunch box ? And mattel made a vinyl one also. The plastic one is blue with a simple sticker mattel made for its idenity.
In all my time shopping vintage shops & toy/collectible expos I've never seen a lunch box protector. Your idea of some sort of application is intriguing - I'd be worried about long-term reactions with untested chemicals. My method of protection is to clean & dry thoroughly and then keep out of direct sunlight.
I brown bagged all through school. I never felt deprived because of it. I felt more grown up brown bagging it. But I never put it down. Just a matter of choice.
I live a few blocks away from The Lunchbox Museum. I've been there many times. The owner and people that work there are fantastic.
Idk how I just came across this video but I’m so glad I did took me back to my childhood an I wish we could go back
I'm glad you did too, Erica! I hope you'll subscribe, stick around, and check out more of our nostalgic stuff! 😁

My favorite one that I had was I dream of Jeannie. It was shaped like a TV and even had the rabbit ears lol
I think I've seen that one!
Those lunch boxes and thermos were so iconic of the 1970s and 1980s. This guy has so many, and I can't remember the one I had!

Metal all the way, Mur!
Oh, no doubt, but I used whatever my mommy bought me! YEEET!
Same!
I had a Roadrunner lunch box and my brother had a Peanuts lunch box when we were kids.
A neighbor girl had a Bugaloos lunch box.

Thank you, Joe. So glad you enjoyed it!

That's very cool, Krista. One day you'll need to make you way to the museum. It's really quite a sight to behold.

4:33 I owned The Peanuts Thermos shown here along with the vinyl Lunchbox up until 4th grade & such was my 1st.
Memories FTW! Thanks for watching, Noah.

Right? I was at the store TODAY and there was Halloween AND Christmas stuff already on the shelves. Nutty.
Great memories! Nice job, Jon. Thanks!
Thanks, TheWeatherNole! What a cool place to visit, and a great gentleman to talk with.
I need a slow pass by all. More lunchboxes please!
Thanks John! Been waiting to see this since your podcast.
Heck, yeah, Butter Spider. Thanks for watching!
Awesome 👍😎 blessings
It is, right? Thanks for watching.

I hope to visit again when I pass through Columbus next. The curator is a helluva nice guy!

I was interested in a few of those TV trays, but only parts with duplicates and those were one-of-a-kind in his collection.
Outstanding! I saw a few I once had.
Oh man that's a lot of memories right there!! I had a few of those, even the red plaid LOL!
You were truly old school, James!
@@GenXGrownUp maybe, but in my elementary school the Plaid ones were the last to go. HAHAHAHA!
I had the 1982 McDonald's Sherriff in Cactus Canyon Lunchbox
Awesome!

I didn't happen to see the one I had. Adam 12.
I had a metal Pigs in Space muppets lunchbox. It died when a bully jumped me at the bus stop and I bashed him in the head with it. Good times!
PIGS!..... IN!..... SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACE! 😜
We all know we really loved them for the thermos hha

Omg i had a metal peanuts lunchbox with Snoopy and Charlie Brown that i loved 😃 thanks for the funmemz 👍🏾
I have a large collection of 400 boxes I will be taking to auction .

💯
Oh my gosh the tv try’s I had a carebear one
I had the Pac-Man one!
The strangest metal lunch box I heard of was made to look like a British Red Box, for kids who wanted to pretend to be members of Parliament. The hinges were on the same side as the handle, just like a real red box.
Wow. That's a new one to me!
That's cool I liked the kung-fu lunch box the best
Excellent, Grasshopper!
I recently found my old lunchbox. Dukes of Hazzard. The one I have is the one with coy and vance on it. Any idea where I could get a value on it or possibly sell it?
I'd recommend starting on eBay. Condition will be key, so lots of photos on your listing will help if get the best value.
1000 likes for this 👍👍
Haha! Thanks, Lovish!
I still have the Six Million Dollar Man lunch box
Fantastic!

Is there a product that Protects / Preserves the metal lunchboxes? I'm wondering if a Wax applied (like auto polish) might be used.

Oh wow Annie and PacMan
So, so, SO many!
I had Superman I think?
Did you spot it on the wall? I betcha it was there!
The forms that mental illness reveals itself is so bizzare.
I wholeheartedly disagree with your implication that being a collector is the sign of mental illness.
Only the privileged kids had lunch boxes in my school. I brown bagged it.
Only the privileged? Pretty much EVERYONE in my Elementary had a lunch box. And we were far from the elite. LOL! 😁
I brown bagged all through school. I never felt deprived because of it. I felt more grown up brown bagging it. But I never put it down. Just a matter of choice.
i hope u not drink the chocolate milk from the thermos you would need moor than ajax to get that taste out ya mouth
