Great video like always. I personally prefer the original atmosphere of the game, it has a certain charm to it but the SE is also very good, although the "new content" is quite questionable given it's mostly beta content that was cut from the final game and most cutscenes for it are broken (the Xmas music class mission for example). You can also force 60fps on it by changing it on the Silent Patch .ini file, it may mess up some missions but it overall works. Looking forward for the next one!
Thanks for supporting the channel so much! This was the first one that kind of had me a bit stumped and you’re right I definitely should’ve showed forcing 60fps on pc!
I just wanted to thank you for your hard work! My limited time to devote to games is filled with reliving games from my childhood, and I can not thank you enough for showing us the definitive way to play them. Keep up the great content we all love it!
I say the Wii version is easily the best one to play on PC or otherwise *if* you have a Wiimote laying around. It includes all of the SE content without the PC/X360 bugs, retains the aesthetics/atmosphere of the PS2 version whilst upgrading the visuals just a touch, and it has one of the most fun & engaging motion controls schemes among the Wii games.
Loving the content. Its great to see channels still diving into the PS2 and many of our 2000s Gen consoles we grew up on. The PS2 alone had plenty of great sleeper games that went under the radar.
I want to thank you a lot for the ghosting fix in the ps2 version of Bully, i was looking everywhere for a way to fix it and play the original one. It looks great now! Also keep doing videos like these, i was even trying to use a pack of textures in PCSX2 to put in another game (Suikoden V) but for some reason it doesn't work, the textures don't get replaced with the ones i downloaded. Also, maybe you could take a look at the Wii version of Bully, it has the same graphics of the ps2 (with better textures and shadows.) but with the contents of the scholarship. Really wanted to play this one, but my ps4 controller doesn't get detected by the Dolphin emulator inside the game.
I love this channel and the quality of the content is so good Ik fs that retro renew is going to become a channel with atleast 500k subs before 2026 if this quality is continued ps I'll take a screenshot of this lmao
I would love if you'd cover Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Can't for my life get it to work on neither PPSSPP nor PCSX2. Great video and series btw, keep up the great work!
Wish they didn't cancel the sequel. I mean what are they going to do after GTA VI? Just RDR3? I'd rather have a different type of game from the Rockstar library. Bring back Manhunt and Midnight Club
@@wiredmania2653 the leaked rdr ports came to pass and gta iv was among those remasters so we're that far. I haven't heard of anything from midnight club tho? Source?
@@SoulbentAnime source: sales to controversy ratio Gta Vice city, a 2002 (TWO THOUSAND AND TWO) game got a definitive edition an is just one of many remasters with a considerable amount of censor , with is a no brainer lost of some things that made the original so acclaimed.
I'm excited to see this one, I've actually never gotten around to playing this game o.o *shame* Something that would be cool for another series of this is the old Hitman games. I went through the whole process, with the WHOLE series, and it was complicated without a good tutorial. (Controller Support is ahhhhh) If only I knew someone who has been making great tutorials for this kind of thing lol ;)
For those who arent aware, if you have an AMD gpu, you can go into Adrenalin while the game is running and enable Fluid Motion Frames, which will use interpolation to generate frames in between normal frames (basically doubling your FPS). It works on DX11, DX12, Vulkan, and OpenGL games. I generally tend to try to get pc games to 75fps or emulated games to 60fps for a better result, but ive found it looks decent for getting 30fps games to look like 60fps.
ive played it sooo many times on PS2 pretty sure the wii my PC and even on mobile i remember as a kid i refused to play the halloween and snowing / christmas missions / chapters / sections till it was like that IRL lol
My go to is the ps2 version its pretty much the best one, though id say never enable the 60 fps patch in this game in particular as i had a savefile refuse to load after awhile of playing with the patch and had to return to an older save and redo alot of missions without it, so basically wasted alot of time and from what ive seen online its bound to happen if you use the 60 fps patch, just a heads up.
Watching this to decide if I should buy the PC scholarship edition, I already own it on Series S, but I don't think you mentioned the xbox version (I skipped some bits of the video so I'm not sure), do you have an opinion on wether it'd be worth it?
Yo Isn’t the PlayStation 4 port which is just the ps2 port the most authentic modern way? That goes for the original gta trilogy on ps4 as well which had the ps2 ports
Hi retro, maybe you didn't see my comment in the last video, but could you help me with modding options for SA (rockstar launcher version), would be quite helpful
It's just that the modpack only works with the steam version and not the rockstar one, due to the exe version being different, I got some workarounds but I was looking to emulate something similar to what you had, because that was a really good job
I have it on my Windows 11 laptop and it keeps crashing. I've tried the silent patch, changing resolutions, changing ram usage etc. Nothing seems to be fixing my crashes.
The 360 port's framerate is really bad at times on original hardware and if you're willing to emulate it to fix the fps you might as well just play the modded PC version Tho playing the 360 version through backwards compatibility on an Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X is nice
Quick note. "Grab the nightly build so you're settings match mine" will not age well. Nightly builds are more likely to have experimental features or changes that won't be the same months or years after this video comes out.
I need this type of video for Scarface! As both the ps2 version and pc version are completely broken on todays hardware. The ps2 version also has some features cut from the pc version. If you can even run the pc version lol

I love these videos, you're helping us out so much and picking really good games to cover.
Glad you like them!
haven't played bully EVER as a massive fan of GTA, but now maybe I can play it! amazing vid as always!
Play it bro , such a good game
Loving your channel so far! It's like you've read my mind.. - as I've been exploring playing the OG GTA Trilogy and Bully again on PC! 😅👀

Dude, you're a god send!
funny how i watched all your best way to play videos and wanted bully today and rightfully got it thanks chief
its always a great surprise whenever another one of these pops up
I love the editing especially the retro PS2 Game covers you use. PLEASE DO A CRASH BANDICOOT SERIES I WANNA KNOW THE BEST WAY TO PLAY MY CHILDHOOD

@ I'm asking about a source for another midnight club game? that isn't proof of that.
Great Vid
Love these videos.
Is there any plans on doing these for the GTA Spin-offs like LCS, VCS and Chinatown Wars?
They are on my list but I have a different video planned at the moment. It’ll come eventually
Please make videos on BEST Way to Play GTA liberty city stories, Chinatown wars and GTA vice city stories.
6:56 just bought Bully after watching your video and the FOMO of the game being delisted from steam

you can also use lossless scaling, its 7$ tho

You can use an application called lossless scaling to render at 60fps without any issues
I keep hearing a lot of great things about lossless scaling, I need to maybe make a video on it
i still waiting for Bully 2 :(
Can you make a video teaching how to fix and make the steam version of Saints Row 2 work? All tutorials are focused on the GOG version.
Watching this to decide if I should buy the PC scholarship edition, I already own it on Series S, but I don't think you mentioned the xbox version (I skipped some bits of the video so I'm not sure), do you have an opinion on wether it'd be worth it?
Yo

That goes for the original gta trilogy on ps4 as well which had the ps2 ports
Yeah you’re absolutely right and it’s a great version but since these videos focus on playing the games on PC, shadPS4 emulator isn’t quite there yet.
@ glad I got all classic games on ps4
Hi retro, maybe you didn't see my comment in the last video, but could you help me with modding options for SA (rockstar launcher version), would be quite helpful
No I didn’t sorry, what do you need help with? I can try to the best of my ability but I’m no expert
It's just that the modpack only works with the steam version and not the rockstar one, due to the exe version being different, I got some workarounds but I was looking to emulate something similar to what you had, because that was a really good job
I can't get over the ps2 version having less content
The Ps2 version is more refined, all the added content is just stuff that was cut out because it was filler. Like who really wants music class?
I have it on my Windows 11 laptop and it keeps crashing. I've tried the silent patch, changing resolutions, changing ram usage etc. Nothing seems to be fixing my crashes.
pls make a video for resident evil 4
Bro use lossless scaling multi framegen, LSFG 3 is much smoother and has way less artifacting and flickering
Please do Max Payne 1,2 and even 3 if it needs it
strange , I remember having the scholarship edition on PS2
I think it's a false memory because I played the game on PS2 and on PC a few years later
Next sleeping dogs plss
You forgot about the Xbox 360 version.
The 360 port's framerate is really bad at times on original hardware and if you're willing to emulate it to fix the fps you might as well just play the modded PC version
Tho playing the 360 version through backwards compatibility on an Xbox One or Xbox Series S/X is nice
And Nintendo Wii version, but it's literally a PlayStation 2 version with all the Scholarship Edition content.
Pls do max payne because I got max payne 1&2 on pc and can't get it to run on a rtx 4060 laptop
can we get a midnight club video?
Quick note. "Grab the nightly build so you're settings match mine" will not age well. Nightly builds are more likely to have experimental features or changes that won't be the same months or years after this video comes out.
Bought Bully on Steam, Game crashes everytime
PC version was completly broken and unplayable
The Xbox 360, wii and Ps2 were the only decent versions to play it
Wii the xbox 360 Best
Suggestion: if this specific channel content keep running, skip skyrim/fallout 4 as much as possible, we all know this one.
Why tho
agree
I need this type of video for Scarface! As both the ps2 version and pc version are completely broken on todays hardware. The ps2 version also has some features cut from the pc version. If you can even run the pc version lol
