RFx is used in Purchasing a goods or services for a company. It helps to make a decision on purchasing goods or services.
What is RFx?
RFx is a family of documents which has the below individual documents.
RFI - Request for Information.
RFP- Request for Proposal.
RFQ- Request for Quotation.
RFI- The basic information required from a potential supplier or service provider about himself and his product or services can be requested through Request for Information (RFI).
If you don't know about, what is required for a particular need. Then you can also explain your need and requirement and ask potential supplier/Service provider to give Information about the product or service that can fulfil your need and requirements.
It helps to understand potential suppliers /Service providers knowledge about the required product or service.
Thus with the information you can shortlist required supplier or service provider.
RFP- Detailed specification or details about required product or services can be received from potential suppliers/Service providers through Request for proposal.
With the received details, We can analyse the proposed product or services. And check whether it suits our requirement. It helps us in further shortlisting the potential suppliers.
RFQ - Once we are satisfied by the product or service. We request Supplier/ Service provider to provide Quotation through Request for quotation.
The main details provided by quotation are price and payment terms it also has all the specification details provided in proposal.
The quotation is further shortlisted , And Purchase order is released to selected supplier/Service provider
