If that bumper is easy for a new owner to replace, cut out a perfect Square and mount tha ugly receiver behind it. You can access the pin from inside the storage. Or let's Waterjet a new cool bumper with integrated receiver and a rack to hold the required overlanding fuel cans and Jack.
I like this idea a lot. I wonder if that’ll give me enough clearance off the back? Ideally, I would like the receiver to be 6 inches above the rear bumper. I know this would be a compromise and strength, but the combined weight of the bicycle is only 60 pounds, plus the bicycle rack itself.
@@theWildsLife the 2 inch receiver is already overkill and may actually give someone the wrong impression. Think Truck, trailer, 30foot boat, Highway crash. Maybe use the smaller receiver. Either way, the torque created bringing it up 6 inches will be inconsequential with the bike rack... You can have a special receiver extension for that purpose. pack it away when not using the bike racks. Maybe scrap everything I just said if it would support a motorcycle mount? the ones from princess auto bent on my TW 200 which is a bit of a pig of a bike but still, I had to cut 4 inches off the rack to reduce the torque, that fixed it.
