Back in the mid to late 1960's we lived in Niceville, Florida (a few miles from Eglin AFB, where my dad was stationed before his retirement) and many military aircraft preparing to land at Eglin flew low, right over our neighborhood, including many C-130's. Our neighbor across the street was a Sargent of the USAF and crew of a C-130 (cargomaster). Those Hercules really stood out among the other aircrafts!
I remember when i was a kid back in the 80's i lived outside Karlsborg. We saw planes like this on low altitude, wow thats a crazy sound!! and the fighters flying alot at night time,, also super low . That was so impressive
Det motorljudet 1:10 känner man igen, samt bullret av jas 39 gripen. Arbetar till vardags ett Stenkast från upplands flygflottilj F16 i Uppsala som återinvigdes här i höstas. Mycket trevligt och kul att höra på.
C-130 is an awsome airplane. I have only seen them 2 or 3 times. once at Gothenburg Airshow and once when i landed at Kalax airport (from the airplane window). But never close up.
Well adding those only takes very short time, don't you think? The trick is rather that the Swedish highway network is scattered with prepared roadsections, where there also are bunkers, and trees on the roadside are always kept cleared, to be always ready. In a wartime situation, Sweden has hundreds of airstrips / "mini airfields" for primarily fighterjets. (That are specially designed with this in mind.) But it was nice to se such an exercise with a Hercules transport for a change.
After 1,430 Hours those Alison T-56A-16 Engines took my hearing. Glad someone can still hear. You want tinnitus we gots lots & lots of tinnitus. Yay U.S. Veterans Administration with their Phonak Hearing Aids!!!
I dont really think there's a question about it, it will be the C-130J. The A400M costs more the 2x as much to purchase and since we already use the c-130 i dont think they are even going to think about it.
@@zoom5024 Rumors says that they are too small to carry Blackhawks (60M) and tanks, the 550 flight hours/year on the C-17 that we pay is used with no margin and the question is for how long that the C-17 can do the job. Either we pay someone to do it, or we do it ourselves. will see.
@@Gripenace well, it's not smart to scrap medium lift and replace it with heavy. And those planes can only land and be stationed at arlanda, feels like a waste.
@@zoom5024 C-17 can land at numerous airfields and be based at F7, but I was referring to A400 if the C130 or KC-390 "is too small" C-17 isn´t available as it´s no longer in production. Not smart to have a medium lift either if you need a bigger one. will see what they need.
@@Gripenace why would we even need something like the C17 apart from looking cool? The hercules would be able to use most of the roads that the Gripens use for landing and takeoff during war, something the C-17 wouldnt be able to do.
To me the most remarkable thing is that it was able to turn around.
Yes, like a car parking or making a u-turn

Hello im from IDN.
Its such a satisfying sound from mighty herc.
Love the sound
Så bra att vi kan landa & starta på vanliga landsvägar! (om flygfälten är förstörda). Även Jas flyg! Blir svårare för ev fienden!
That's pretty cool! EPIC... love it... would love to see something like that for real one day....

I wonder why the takeoff is downwind? (4:28) To show it was possible or safe?

As a wise man said, this monster is a beauty.
I love the sound of those
C 130 Hercules is the most popular andmost produces for many countries around the world.
Do Swedish roads usually have windsocks and distance markers ? Great example of C130 capabilities but clearly a “prepared” situation.
Sweden is ful of runways camoflaged as roads. Close the road, add the missing parts, then land.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bas_90
In some open areas by the road there are wind socks to warn motorists for strong winds.
