- Review Of The Proviz Reflect360 Cycling Jacket
Now that it is Winter and the hours of daylight are reduced, us cyclists need to been seen and clearly visible to other road users when cycling at night.
In this vlog I review one of the Proviz Reflect360 cycling jacket.
A reflective jacket is an essential piece of cycling kit if you are riding at night and this is one of the most popular products from UK company Proviz who are one of the leading companies in the field of reflective cycle clothing.

I bought my Proviz Reflect 360 18 months ago for use on my daily commute to work. Probably the best £100 i've spent (that was the price back then). I've been stopped by car drivers asking where to get one from because they are so visible at night.
That’s fantastic. Wonder why drivers will want one.
I simply can not think of any other place in the world where I can get reviews of and information on cycling clothing I can wear! Period. That being said, I loved your review of the cycling Jersey you did a while back until I seen the price. I would need two jobs to afford that thing. But this jacket makes much more sense, and based on this review I think it makes sense for my riding and I am going to get one! Thank you for your good work Sir 👍🏼 Just hope they ship to America.
They do; I am in NJ and have some of their items. They're great!
Nice pun: "On reflection...". You probably could have sized down one size. The reflective ability of that jacket is amazing.
Yes, I think I would have been better off with the next size down.
I agree 4x is a bit too big looking on leonard
credit to you Leo, my wife says Mmmm what should i buy you for Christmas, i said Proviz 360 jacket, watch this You Tube ,thank you Leo for taking the time to post a good video
Great timing on this review, as I'm in the market for something just like this & I like it. I'm also glad to see you doing some reviews periodically. I feel like I've watched you for a few years now and I find you very trustworthy. For me, that's really important if I'm to take someones review seriously. Thanks!
Thanks Jeffery. I genuinely liked the jacket, despite getting very sweaty.
@@jollygoodvelo Sweat is the sign of hard work.
Very interesting review. The product is a welcome addition to what's currently available no doubt!
A quick question to you and subscribers.
I have gone out for a few night rides clad in my Altura ” Night Visiion ” long bibs and yellow jacket with reflective patches.
I have a 150 lumen front light and a good bright red rear light set in flash mode.
Cars frequently "Beep me " from front and rear. I take this to indicate " We see you we are telling you we are near "
Are my jacket patches and lights too bright ?
I have front light set so its not in the motorists eyes ?
Night riding is an area needing a bit more careful evaluation for safety reasons.
Thanks for your input.
Good information Leonard. Amazing visibility. Probably be seen from Mars.
I use the Provis reversable Gillet. With just a thermal base layer I’ve been riding down to 3 degrees Celsius and felt totally comfortable. Highly recommended
I think the gilet is the way to go.
I’ve not been touting for one of these jackets at all, but my wife has obviously been paying attention when I told her about these and was concerned enough for my safety, that yesterday an early birthday present arrived for me from her! A different make, but essentially the same jacket! She had canvassed the friend who showed me theirs the day you released your video and I told my wife about it as soon as I saw her, then your video appeared. I thought she was impervious to cycling talk too! I feel very lucky and very visible! She also flattered me with her sizing choice. It cycling snug on me. I might be having a few less mince pies over the festive period!
Enjoy your new jacket.
@@jollygoodvelo I will as long as I can fit into it! Doing OK at the mo, but can't afford to put many pounds on before it becomes too snug! Strangely for me, I'm eating quite reasonably for this time of year?! Must be the slight increase in turbo-time I'm doing at the mo. Not over doing it too much, so I'm not over hungry!... yet...
@@richcrompton6891 Good luck!
@@jollygoodvelo Thank you Leonard, I need it! my weight fluctuates as easily as breathing!
Great video. You didn't just pose and talk but actually got out there and showed it in action. I was so impressed that I ordered one. I will be wearing a Florescent gilet in the daylight hours and take it off when darkness falls. You certainly deserve that free Jacket as they won another customer. Where I live in Essex the roads are very dangerous, so bad that they reverse to make sure you're dead. (Joke) knyuck ! knyuck! knyuck!
Hope you like it. The reversible gilet makes much more sense.
I've got the Switch gillet with the yellow hi viz, great in the day time otherwise you're blending in to the grey scenery. However the lack of sleeves mean traffic can't see you indicating at night. Although they can see the reflective body from space. Probably.
Great point about being able to be seen while signaling. I’d not thought about that but good heavens, is it bright!
Fair and balanced review Leonard, you should get to keep the jacket and maybe give a long term report where you can test in much colder weather to see if this reduces the effect on sweating.
They are letting me keep the jacket so a longer term review is a good idea.
After asking for jackets on the JGV facebook site , someone pointed me towards Proviz, i ended up buying the switch gillet and a softshell jacket and i'm really impressed, i too am top end of there sizing range but was so pleased to actually find something that fits and adds to visibility, it certainly ticks the boxes for me. They even sent me a discount code for any future purchases.
It’s brilliant that they come in larger sizes.
We have these in NZ and I've been admiring them for years but they are very expensive, and no retailer will stock anything above 2XL (same for bikes - low volumes mean it's near impossible to find an XL on the shop floor). Thanks to you, I have bought a gilet in a larger size and at a sale price (I couldn't find a link or code above to give you credit for the sale) I hope Proviz gives you a smaller jacket and/or gilet for the business you seem to have drummed up - those sleeves are way too long. If they do, consider regifting your 4xl to the 6'8" guy who commented. It's Xmas after all and my sizing issues are likely not a patch on his.
Glad you managed to find one. I appreciate you wanting to give me credit for the sale. They did let me keep the jacket I reviewed!
I really like the design and fit. This may be a Christmas gift for my wife and myself. Thanks Leonard.
If you run a bit hot like me I would definitely recommend the gilet.
I think I’ve come to a similar conclusion. Gillet is the way forward. I’m a human sprinkler system and always have been whether at the size I am now, chunky, or racing snake slim. I’ve always managed to perspire like I’m leaking. Somewhere over 1lt per hour at least, so ventilation is key for me.
I think I sweat a similar amount. Have you ever tried weighing yourself before and after a ride. It’s amazing what the difference can be sometimes.
@@jollygoodvelo yes, often! I do it to make sure I rehydrate sufficiently. I sweat so much, it’s hard to get the fluids in on a ride if it doesn’t include a stop. Indoors is even worse! I just think we have an efficient cooling system!
I have the cycling gilet and it gives that extra confidence for night riding and I have even used it for running. It does also have a breathable back mesh section that is useful when carrying a rucksack to work as it helps stop excessive sweating. I too run hot and you will sweat even in the gilet but maybe a little less than with the jacket.
Thanks. That’s good to know. Makes mr feel slightly better!
Hi Leonard, nice review. I got the running version of this jacket and also a vest. The running jacket is ventilated fully on the back and not reflective. Moisture vapor will come out through the vis fabric but it does keep big drops like rain out. I agree with you on your points about daytime visibility and how it glows in a spot of light when out in the dark. I'd rather be visible, warm, and a bit sweaty (since most jackets don't ventilate particularly well anyway, so that's basically a wash). The vest I got for cycling to wear over my warmer cycling kit, which is, of course, black like so much other cycling clothing. I didn't feel the need for another cycling jacket since I'm happy with the performance of what I have and just wanted to add some visibility for night/early morning rides. Like you, I don't do those very often anyway.
Amazing products. I use the backpack cover.
I love how reflective it is.
Looks good. For late night commuting I use a Trespass Zig jacket. One benefit I can see already from the Proviz is the ability to tighten/fine tune the cuffs.
That’s also quite important for ventilation.
Another great video Leonard. have to agree with you. It is a great product. I also take it with me in the car in case I breakdown and I know I am safe in the knowledge that other motorists will be able to see me on the side of the road. Happy Cycling stay safe.
I’ve been wearing mine out and about as a regular waterproof jacket even when I’ve not been cycling.
I'm trying to find something appropriate for Winter as I'll be riding a lot. I've read several reviews talking about how sweaty this jacket is, which is always a problem for me with any sort of coat or jacket. My arms sweat like crazy. So I'm looking into the Gillet. Not sure how to keep my arms warm without sweating though. Thanks for a full and helpful review. Oh and their website does up to 5XL now. I hope 4XL will be enough for me though.
nice review, I actually ordered the Gilet this morning :-)
Enjoy.
I’ve got both the gilet and the jacket and I tend to wear the jacket more but having both gives you greater options, put I must say what a fantastic product.
Interesting that you have both. I’d be interested to hear when you wear each one.
I tend to wear the gilet in the warmer weather especially on night rides such as the Dunwich Dynamo
... I bought the exact same Proviz jacket about 2 months ago and have to say its just brilliant....literally. It really does have to be seen to be believed. BTW I'm a cycling bloater too, about the same build and finding decently sized cycling gear a 'mare, this tho' fits me wonderfully.
It is just so bright, isn’t it.
Amazing jacket. Almost blinds you it's so bright at times.
I bought the gillet 4 years ago. I got the reverseable one, so you can have it as hi-viz yellow during the day and reflective during the dark hours. My impression when first wearing it on a winter audax at night was that cars did seem to give me plenty of room as they must have been able to see me a mile away. On the downside, as you have said, it is a sweat-box, and even in the gillet your body does get quite damp.
Interesting that the gilet has the same issue.
I just been given the Proviz Switch by my wife for my birthday. It gives you the choice of high reflective or hi viz green. Its the option I'd recommend.
That sounds like a great solution for day and night riding.
Great product review. Fortunately being a retired old codger I can ride any time of day and I am terrified of traffic here in the states in daylight so night riding is out of the question!
I’m a slightly less old codger and I understand your fear of riding in the dark.
A great option are the HiViz products offered to road crews and construction workers.
Not Aero but economical. In Hiking the challenge was to not get wetter from sweat than from the rain.
This jacket looks well vented, and adjustability is the key.
I think these hi viz products work well in the daytime but not quite so well at night.
I have got the reversible gilet and it's super reflective but it does not get rid of sweat at all.
I’ve thought about getting one as well.
Hiya Leonard, I hope you're well. I've been looking at these for my Mrs and I for some weeks now. We like the cycling clothing quite tight. That one looked about two sizes to big for you. It was a good review though, thank you. Ride and stay safe buddy 👍🏻👍🏻🚴♂️🚴🏼♀️🚴♂️
I would suggest looking at the sizing chart before you buy. I just assumed I needed a 4XL
I have a rain jacket that I like but it has a hood. So I tuck it inside under the back. Might work with your collar in front. I find it best to depart cold and bring extra layers in case I don't warm up enough. All hard shell rain jackets short of those made of gortex are sweaty. And soft shells eventually let some rain in. The equation is will the rain make you wetter than the sweat?
That is the burning question, although I think the main selling point of this jacket is it’s reflective ability rather than it’s waterproof qualities.
I've been using the gilet for a year or two now when riding at night or early morning pre-dawn. Overall I am impressed - the refection is great. I've washed mine a fair bit and it still seems OK. It does get a bit sweaty on the inside but I'll take that for the visibility.
It might be a bit sweaty but you can’t beat it’s reflective ability.
Great stuff Leonard. I bought the gilet a few years ago for winter commuting and I love it, the fleece colour feels really nice when zipped up, but you can still use long sleeve jerseys and base layers to regulate your temperature. The only downside for me is that I wear a backpack when commuting so it covers up a large part of the reflective surface, however, there are stickers from 3M, called Pogo I think, that I slapped all over the bag, and their reflectivity matches the Proviz. Winner all round.
I think Proviz make a backpack in the same material so that might be another solution.
@@jollygoodvelo Good shout Leonard, will look into it when I can leave the house again and resume the commute!
Nice jacket. I don't ride at night due to rush hour traffic here. But for those that do, this jacket would help a lot. People riding in SoCal at night need all the help they can get.
Exactly. I would say that few people rode at night by choice.
I do a lot of my winter riding during the week and these have to be fitted in after work so this is my go to jacket.
I have a couple of other Gore jackets (C7 & InfiniumThermo) that are a million times more breathable than this that I wear at the weekend but nothing lets you be seen by other road users like the 360. I purchased the jacket a couple of years ago because I was concerned that even with good lights I was getting too many close passes there was a marked improvement as soon as I started using this.
My only criticism is that even with the under arm zips open it's about as breathable as a wet bin liner when you are pushing hard but it's a price worth paying.
Yes, the breathability is my main concern too. Other than that it’s a top quality jacket.
i do love the idea of a fully reflective jacket but ive seen a few people use this product and unfortunately they always look like a very loose fit, for me on a road bike I want something that feels more close fitting and sporty than something that flaps in the wind. I think you could have gone a couple of sizes down and still had ample room in this!
That was a good review... interesting construction of that jacket making it that bright at night... similarly I don’t ride at night, but if I did and it was a short ride, I’d definitely consider getting one... hope you consider doing more reviews in the future my friend... 🍻
Thanks Mark, I do quite like doing the reviews but I’m always a little worried that people might think I’m selling out, especially if I have received the product for free.
@@jollygoodvelo You definitely have a point...
Leonard I would say you need the size smaller, at least, the arms are way too baggy
The smaller one would be more Aero too!
Yeah, I think it’s a bit big.
Looks a size big on camera, but if it's comfy, it's a personal thing👍
I always wear my reflective jacket(different brand) for my dark 5.30am commute, the concept is great👍 keep the vlogs coming mate👍😁🚴♀️🏴🏴
Yeah, I think it might be a bit on the large size for me. I just assumed I needed the biggest one they made.
@@jollygoodvelo 😂😂😂 I don't know about you but I find a Hugh different in cycling clothing sizes between some brands? Especially online I'm usually not sure. I just bought dhb shoes a size smaller as advised and they still feel a little loose 😁( 6ft,96kg)👍😁🚴♀️🏴
Definitely. I find it depends on the country of origin. They obviously don’t get quite so big in some countries!
@@jollygoodvelo 😁👍🚴♀️🏴
Just the ticket, been looking for a winter jacket or gilet. Good review! 😁
Glad to help.
That looks like an amazing product. Another great video sir.
It’s very, very reflective!
Quality jacket and video, I do like their kit.👏
I’ve been struggling for choices to fit my frame... Thx for the suggestion!
Glad to help
Bloody hell! I was just looking at that yesterday! Saw one hanging up when I was on a shoot and wondered what it was! It was amazing looking!
It is a great jacket.
@@jollygoodvelo both the jacket and the gilet are on the Christmas list! I'm a 46" chest, are the sizings accurate? I'd like the gilet to 'fit', less concerned about the jacket, that can be loose
@@richcrompton6891 Yes, I would say they are pretty accurate. I have to admit that I never looked at the chart. I simply assumed that I needed the 4XL.
Going to their website know . Finally a coat for fluffy people . The sizes sold me
Fluffy people. Love it!
Just bought one, they're on offer at 67 quid at the moment
Bargain!
Thanks for the heads up. Got one in the last hour of the sale.
There is now available the Reflex360 Plus and the fabric is filled with thousands of holes to make it breathable and let the moisture out. I don't think it will be windproof, so you can add layers to control your temperature. But for night riding it's a big safely aid. There is data on the Proviz web site ua-cam.com/video/8DxdmDTC-aw/v-deo.html
Mom did not recognise yea in that jacket lol yea well informed it's a bit out of my price range normally go for Aldi ones cheap as chips but the 90 quid looks better Quality perfect for winter I do agree
The Aldi one probably isn’t too bad. Didn’t know they sold one.
@@jollygoodvelo yea but they sell out quickly
Think it would have to be the gilet for me. What's the red Gopro mount on your stem? I was recently given a Go pro 4 silver I think it is? Not really used it yet.
Having worn all sorts of Cycling Jackets though many winters i ve yet to find one that that does not release your body sweat, many claim to be breathable but seldom are, but the main thing is they keep you Dry and Warm , and Visible.. Wonder how your Jacket will look at the end of the Winter !!!!! enjoyed the video.
I know people that have had these a while and they still look good.
Thumbnail made me think you had joined an East 17 tribute act
That was last week.
Also check out BTR reflective gear chuck, really well made, love mine x also make a gilet too.
I had a look at their jackets but they didn’t look like they went up to my sizes the largest was a 2XL
two years on, hows the jacket holding up? it looked like it was a bit baggy on you could you have gone for a 3x and had a more "fitted' fit( just curious)?
cheers.
They seem to have a sale on at the moment. I like the side pockets in their garments. I really dislike pockets on my back because I can never find them!
The big one at the back is pretty easy to get to.
I have the same jacket only it's the Ettore version. The proviz version has a breathable version.
Thanks for that Millie. It didn’t get a little warm so a more breathable one would be better for me.
I would recommend the switch 360 Gilet. Just to keep the heat down. If Proviz want to send me one out to try I'm a size small ,😂👍
As I said in the vlog, I could kick myself for not getting the gilet.
@@jollygoodvelo commented during watching so have not see it all yet..
Try Galibier Tourmalet jacket or the gillet pro-viz as it gives you more ventilation
I wish I went for the gilet.
@@jollygoodvelo Yep, saw that at the end of the video after I had made my comment. I have a blue reversible pro viz gillet and its brilliant. Galibire clothing is worth a look at but I am not sure if they do 4xl sizes!
It’s a little large on you. Can you try a size smaller. I think you might like it even more. Thank you for your review.
Sadly I can’t try the next size down without buying it myself.
このジャケットめちゃすき👾
Great video Leonard how come the Specialised bike seems parked up and the Cannondale out?.
I’ve been riding the Trek. It’s because I’ve enjoyed riding it over the Summer and I haven’t quite been able to swap over to the Specialized.
Hi,
I would never have thought you were 4 XL. Plus it seemed to me you were losing some weight. I try never to ride at night, PA has too many potholes 😡
My son in law is into weight lifting and he wears a 2XL. He is about 6’ 1” & is 245 pounds.
Not sure I am a 4XL. I just assumed. I would be interested to try the next size down.
@@jollygoodvelo or maybe 2 sizes down..
Any guess on how it would fit on a taller rider? I think we are of a similar build but I'm 6'8"(203cm) tall with long arms.
I’ve got a very long body and it fitted me just fine in the length. They do have a sizing chart on their website to make sure, though.
Had a lot of trouble trying to get a jacket that fits properly they either ride up the back or the sleeves are too short
I had none of those issues at all.
@@jollygoodvelo thanks will look into one of these jackets
It is visible like a ghost rider
I wander what’s the difference between the standard jacket and the plus version? The price only! 😂😆
Possibly!
The Plus version is breathable, whereas the non-plus is not.
I have had one about 3 years which is great for slower rides but a sauna with any exertion, wish I had sized up for a bit more airspace inside
Never see me out on a bicycle at night. Try to keep in mind that statistics reported that 1 out of every 7 cars on the road after dark have an alcohol impaired driver. Match that with the idiots that think they can use a smart phone better than anybody else while driving and your risk of getting hit are almost guarantied. Yes, I may be sounding a bit negative about riding a bike at night but it's hard enough to stay safe during daylight hours, why would anyone risk certain death just to ride their bike.
That’s an interesting statistic about intoxicated drivers. I would be very interested to know what country that refers to. I like to think that I would be lower here in the U.K.
take this as a complement Leonard but that jacket looks at least 2 sizes too big for you
Thanks Glen. Hard to know without trying a smaller size. My own fault as that was the one I asked for.
4x? What are you, a retired NFL lineman
I may have overestimated somewhat!
look like ghostrider floating
Or the invisible man!
Your not a XXXXL
It’s probably borderline between a 4XL and a 3XL
