- In all honestly, outside of a perfect run, 10K trips might be impossible to complete now... we min-maxed our way to covering nearly 90% of the map in roads and that still wasn't enough.

I was playing this game trying to make a beautiful interconected city, with cool roundabouts and traffic lights, a motorway here and there...
Turns out the true objective is segregation LMFAO.
Without more advanced traffic controls, yeah unfortunately segregation is best-gregation

Congrats on top 100. I don’t understand how people got 10k trips. Seems impossible to me. Every time I play, distance is what kills me.
Only 4 people have gotten 10K on this map so far, so it's likely impossible unless you get a perfect run :(
Nowadays the leaderboards say 199,999…is that from cheaters, or do y’all think they are legit? I just reached over 2000 for the first time

5:12 I was like the whole time "put a road next to the mountain. Put a road next to the mountain. If it's not a blue spawn, a green spawn is gonna F you up and cut you off. Put. A. Road. Next. To. The. Mountain." And then it happened. I think I am traumatized by this map.
That's definitely one of the major injuries I took in this run - for future runs, I think I'll be making sure to always have roads available to preplan that route... Might have saved me a tunnel, which would have saved me at the end of the game. Crazy how it all compounds like that, one mistake at 5 minutes ends the game at 50 minutes
@@Retroflux when you said you had a motorway you weren't using, and you used it for flesh-colored/moldy bread level 2 instead of connecting the whole right side yellow population to the other side of the map, I was physically hurt as well lol The mountains really annoy me in this map. "Oh I need a motorway here" "A motorway can't go over a mountain" *rage noises*
Hi fellow backseat gamer 😁 I recognise this feeling all to well. Lately I use those moments to practice 'letting go', which has been something I always struggled with. I'm getting better at it little by little 👍
It would be interesting if a patch came out where cars or houses had say in their path. Like, they typically choose the closest store, but if congested they take an alternate route. Might actually make grid strats feasible.

It piss me off that for the greens from down left you could have just go straight through the mountain and don't go around the purples. I wanted to scream with those two greens.

This map really is an insane optimization push. The distance is such a big issue, and there's so many free cars waiting to be used!
Not only that, but motorways that used to be the solution to all of your problems are now just a partial solution that you can't rely on for everything. You gotta think with tunnels, bridges, and motorways in mind!

I think you could’ve reworked the middle top blue around the three yellow so you didn’t need a tunnel or split up the four top yellow

At what point, and with what motivation would I have to rework it? At the end of the game it's a solid line from top to bottom, and rates weren't an issue until well past the time that I'd have the ability to change the route. I can see a world where I connect light blue to the right side of the double destination when installing the highway for cream at 3K points (27:39), but as soon as that highway goes in, that option disappears, and is completely impossible at 5K points. I'd be lying if I said that I have that kind of foresight lol
That all being said, this option can be used in future games for double destination spawns in that area, so, it might even be one of the best strategies if you have the time/resources to plan it!
@@Retroflux I didn’t even see you replied holy crap that’s kinda cool but you could’ve connected it on the same side instead of going to the left of the yellow house go to the right so you could’ve dropped those tree yellow instead of tunneling the Two yellow from the top but you still did great no discredit and even if I’m wrong it gives you another way to think of it

At around 5k did you end up interconnecting all of the tan systems? Gosh that got complicated!
Nope! There's still one tile of clearance I think... I hope lol. That would definitely lead to a dead run soon after the yellow failed though!
I would love to see you at a point near the end, where not much is spawning anymore, just delete all roads and everything and try to get the best setup possible for all the roads. That would be really interesting i feel like!
I think the surge kinda prevents that. The roads are being used and when 3 journeys are spawning at once, you can't really wait for them all to get refunded.

The tiles are squares, but they act like octagons! Not sure what the benefit would be in turning a driving game into a shape that isn't divisible by 4 - you'd have to sacrifice some of the cardinal or orthogonal directions for it work!

"Flesh colored" is racist to anyone that doesn't have the same colored flesh as those spawns.... Just something to think about.
Isn't flesh the layer below skin? It'd have nothing to do with your race, if that's the case. Flesh colour would be flesh colour for everyone
