Very sorry to say this camera eventually developed the aperture issue that apparently plagues these cameras. I've replaced it with a Sony A7iii which is amazing, but it's harder to get great pictures out of it than this Pentax. I loved the Pentax, but it's gone to the great eBay listing in the sky. I know the issue can be fixed but I was quoted over £100 and it felt like time for an upgrade. Thanks for watching the video :)
A good review here.....Obviously a discontinued model now, I picked a red one up recently..... Body, 18-55mm & 50-200mm, Lowpro bag ( Brand new with tags ), 64gb card, 1 Battery & charger for AUD $435 with a shutter count of 267 😯 I also bought three aftermarket, Wasabi Power Batteries ( 1400MAh each, a definite upgrade from Pentax’s own 1050mAh efforts ) along with a twin battery USB charger that can be plugged in to a power bank......... well worth the $98.00. Firmware update was done with relative ease and she was good to go I wanted something weather sealed. Nikon’s D7500 body is weatherproof as is the now discontinued D7200 but neither are particularly cheap, even used and the lenses are not weather resistant. The Pentax will be coming on my Round Australia / Round The World Bike Ride, borders / fake flu permitting. Will try and get another body, as I would like to save the low count body for my trip and really hammer it and see how it stands up over time / different weather conditions. I like it though. Not too heavy but has a decent build quality feel to it and fits nicely in the hand 👍👍👊👊💥💥👊👊👍👍
One of the greatest assets of this camera is it's ability to use older film era Pentax and K Mount lenses. I have a large collection of film era lenses that work flawlessly with this camera not to mention all the high level features that is has. Pentax cameras are designed by engineers who are photographers and understand photography. The way the camera functions is very intuitive to any one from the film era.
I've had a couple of point and shoot digital cameras over the years and got a dslr about 3 months ago. Always used jpeg files, but your example of editing a raw file to bring out details in a shaded area was fantastic! Definitely planning to learn more about editing raw files now.
That's great! Lightroom can work wonders with jpegs too, but not to that extent. Good luck with it, I might make a video about photo editing soon... cheers!
Hey, I have a huge problem with the display of this camera. Maybe you could help me change the settings - if possible. So I really dislike that the image on the screen before I take the picture looks different to the outcome. For example when I have a sharp object in the foreground and everything else is blurry the outcome can still be that everything is sharp. I know about the settings of the Aperture Priority Mode. Still I would like to see the actual outcome of the picture straight away before I press the button. Is that possible to manage? Thanks!
Journey Girl I’d suggest not using the screen to take your pictures - use the viewfinder instead. The screen’s only really there for those occasions where you can’t get your eye close to the viewfinder. And yes, blurriness is all down to the aperture as that’s what makes the light refract. So check the aperture settings and use the viewfinder is my advice. And make sure it’s not on auto if you want to force blurriness - it might be changing it at the last second before you take the picture. Good luck!
What are the compatibility lenses for K50? Not the expensive lens but some of lens useful for daily life macro; potrait and wide Do old Pentax lens fot these ? K mount Pls share a video
Hi - really sorry to say I no longer have the camera, I sold it a couple of months ago in a need-of-repair state as the aperture finally developed the usual problem. I believe adapters are available for using different lenses on the K-mount, but I only ever used the two lenses I got new. Best wishes.
Ah I finally understand what you meant because it happened to me! Aperture wouldn't open, pictures were dark. Workarounds worked for a few weeks but eventually I had to sell it, and upgraded to a Sony A7iii, which is superb.
THere really is no "better" between the two, just differences. Both are outstanding mid level cameras that perform well. When kayaking/backpacking, shooting in rainy condition, my K50 goes since it and the WP lenses go since water resistant/water proof. I've had the camera submerged on a kayak floor for 1-2 minutes and no problem at all..the seals are robust. Image quality between the two is close and that has more to do with lenses. Note the K50 has a feature called focus peaking (Nikon does not) that allows you to see what's in focus by a outline of the image. I don't use it often, but for static objects like a landscape, it helps confirm focus. No wrong choice between the two really, but I give a edge to the K50 for weather resistance and strong build quality.
@@LinhKhanh-tn8jr really.we use a app names 闲鱼,it has many good quality used cameras.i bought a k50 and many lens cost just 200usd. However, China's transaction volume is large, so it can be cheap, which is also a Chinese characteristic.

You can never go wrong with a Pentax.... its the most bang for the buck with one of the best build qualities...
always with my Pentax, I use a SIGMAS 17-70(C) and 70-300 APO DG Macro, as well as a 50mm Pentax lens. Great pictures all the time!
can you do a short video demo on how the video shooting works please ! and what the focus ring does
Lovely review. Thanks man!
Thank you so much!

@@CatGoneCrazyevery K mount lens from the 70s can be used. The funny thing is the aperture block issue doesn't apply to manual lenses.
Link for that Lens?
wanted this but got a6000, i too tought it was too old
Pentax k50 Kelvin available ?
Good
I was all "what about eye-fi cards" now I see they are no more.

No, not quite full frame, but still big.
K-50 it's great camera, I'm an owner, but what you say about quality of aperture control block? ;)
No idea what that even is, mate. Good luck finding a high quality aperture control block ;)
But you know the story? www.pentaxforums.com/articles/photo-articles/pentax-aperture-block-failure-survey-results.html
radon07 Ah! No, I didn't. And I'm pleased to say mine's fine! Hope yours is too.

Nikon d5300 or Pentax k50
Which is better?
Alessandro Risolo you have no business buying a camera if you need to ask.
Ass Risolo spend your money on a photography course.... you sound like you know absolutely nothing about cameras...
Yetsu Ustey 😂😂😂
