I was born in Bridgnorth and lived on a farm outside Stottesdon, before we moved to Wales when I was 8 years old. I still miss it now at the age of 67.

OMG!!! So glad I found this!! My husband was from Bridgnorth. We married at the registrar’s office in December 1982.

Used to cycle to Bridgnorth now and again, coasting down the hermitage was sheer bliss, killer on the way back up, not many could manage it, half way and you'd done well.
A raspberry ice cold milk shake in the old American vase style diner glass was the speciality of the day in the old low town cafe right next to the bridge, long gone now, great memories.

I half expected to see me in this film. I was 13 in the Summer of 1980 and was a member of Bridgnorth Boy's Club for a number of years which included an 'expedition' across the mountains of Wales with The League of Young Adventurers. Nostalgia is so seductive.

I was born in Bridgnorth 1978 and my dad had a ITT camera and video recorder in 1980 , people thought he worked at the BBC cameras were not common place back then :) so I have some footage from around this time I need to digitize, thanks for putting this up :)

I lived just outside Bridgnorth for 15 years. It’s a lovely town. Many happy memories.

born n bred a Bridgnorthian, now living in Hertfordshire, my daughter still lives there so I get to go back and often enjoy the views from castle walk, no by pass back then. 4.31 is Bewdley I think.

I went back about 10 years ago with my kids around the same age as my brother and me in this film. A lot was still very recognisable 35 years later!

1980 was a classic year for me. Taffed out of most of the shops. Especially Preedys. Robbed my 1st Penthouse off the top shelf.
    Happy days

Ah, engine 43106 - affectionately known as Flying Pig. Still used up at the SVR in 2023 :)
Also, I noticed the donkey steps up Cartway! I remember climbing up those on many an occasion.

Spent the best part of the afternoon watching your historic cine films.
Very nostalgic & emotional as i was I guess a similar age to you, and the fashions cars etc of the era's took me right back to my childhood.
Just happened on them by chance, while searching for Bridgnorth films in general, to see what is happening regarding storm Dennis and the flooding.
Wonderfull collection, thankyou so much for sharing them.

sPENT MANY HAPPY DAYS at The Hobbins Camp up the hill in the 70's. The Cliff railway and the steps were always a big hit for the kids......(race to see which got you to the top first) .........

Great video. A couple of shots of Bewdley sneaked towards the end! Also, a couple of things in the video definitely date it as being 1982 at the earliest. Would love to see more footage of the town from this sort of era though.

Can't be '82, because I would have been 13, and I am definitely 11 in these clips. We also still have the old 1974 N reg Volvo 145 in the campsite shots (not included), and dad bought a brand new 1980 model year W reg 240 at the end of summer 81 (heavily discounted as "last year's model," so it must be 1980. Plus 1980 written on the mailers from sending the films off to Kodak.

Having viewed it on a big screen, what I thought I saw, I didn’t see, so you are correct! If it’s 1980 then it’s certainly after June though!
