My 1 Year Sim Drifting Progression!

- Its been 1 year since I started sim drifting and I want to talk about my progression and all the things I have learned on this journey! I have learned a ton about the intricacies of chasing while tandem drifting and the skills used to keep close proximity to the lead driver such as left foot brake, clutch slipping, timing, and anticipating what the lead driver is going to do. I've also learned a lot of car placement on the track including wall riding and taps as well as filling zones more completely with higher speed and angle. Its become a huge part of my life for IRL drifting and competition with it now being my main source of preparation for Formula Drift Japan competition. Now I if I can just figure out how to drift better while talking! LOL

Matt, beeing ohnest, you have quite a lot of influence on me joining sim drifting :) Your 'live' progress is so convincing! I would have one immportant question: do you think used cameras (POV, 3rd person) are playing big role in therms of gains from sim training? Playing 3rd person I will learn less then POV? Or not necessarily?

Best Tracks and Cars are the best. Especially Comp Track/Car Videos and Misslile Car Videos. Also some exotic, fun tracks(not like the Hotwheels one more like not so known tracks which are really fun)
Lol try to read a script or book while driving. Do a "story time" video drifting telling us about something that has happened to you.

bro I just recently got my z34 and gotten into drifting, but hated wasting tire. so I picked up a basic logitech g29 kit for $249 + a shifter and it's such a game changer man, this video is proof

I sold my Logitech G29 a long time ago and was decent at drifting and since getting another wheel setup recently, I'm having to learn it all over again but I can already see the progression. I'm starting off with WSD 180sx and using first and second to learn throttle/wheel control

@@Mousyy it’s so hard getting the FFB settings right. Can never find the perfect one but I try to not change it too much so I’m not having to relearn each time I change something

Loving the content as always at the moment man! Have just started IRL drifting myself. In your sim vids I see you ‘feather’ the clutch a lot, any chance you could do one of your how to videos on why you do that/ when it’s useful etc. would be great to see.
By far my favorite drifting content ,super aggressive and stylish driving style and car preferences as well ,as well you such a influence on the way I choose to presume my drifting.

9n my 3 day on trying to drift in assetto I had alot of practice from beamng and now I can drift in it easily

I'll be honest, I commented before even watching the video lol. On work nights. I do 50 to 60 laps in AC. Non-work nights 100 to 200. ( most of those, me telling myself just one more lap.) I've gotten so much smoother and actually understand how my inputs affect the car. I've also gotten way better about picking up visuals on when the car be off line or if im losing forward bite and I'm just sliding off the the track, and actually being to make appropriate corrections. Like you said, it would take a ton of IRL seat time to get to this point.

I can’t believe it has already been a year, it feels like you just started. Also quick tip for the audio, if you have a rtx gpu you can use nvidia broadcast to record filtered audio so you can get rid of the rig noise.

Its been fun following your progression. Im going to be purchasing my first wheel soon. I can do some real crazy stuff with the controller but its going to be interesting to get the wheel in my hand. I'll prolly be terrible but ill have fun either way.

Next Upgrade: Motion Sim and one of these speaker on the back for engine feeling. I mean you can turn both of for one type of training and if you want to train for f.e. FDJ you turn it on, right?
