No wonder people get killed! As I am a trainspotter I have no problems in waiting for the trains to cross over but even though I am not the most patient person in the world, I would never risk death like this!
Nicola Dale here’s a tip: When walking through a user worked crossing, you should stop, look left, right and left again to make sure a train isn’t coming.. If a train is coming, wait until the train passes. Then, again look left, right and left again to make sure another train isn’t coming. If it is, wait for it to pass. If no train is coming, cross quickly.
Brockenhurst has a really bad crossing if many people pass the red lights. But then again, the gates are slow! 5:28 If traffic was going slower, that car could've been stuck! 6:25 gate is stuck! probably so that guy could get out! It was also the first time I've seen someone get a phone call from a crossing phone! Good job! There are plenty people who risk this around the world!
The number of people who break the law, risk their lives and risk the lives of others is just amazing. It's like they have no common sense or safety at all. I'm going back to Southampton Level Crossing today, let's see how much misuse there will be today!
The basic problem is the flashing of the red lights not making an excuse for crazy driving but normal road use a flashing light just means danger a solid red light on crossings could help
The law is the law and should be obeyed, and violating this one could result in death. However, these drivers know that the gates are activated long before the train actually arrives, and occasionally the wait can be as much as ten minutes. Our society is now in such a hurry! An explanation, perhaps, but not an excuse.
6:45 In the future don't point that out. Just say something like "This is an emergency call. My name is (firstname and lastname), and I am a member of the public currently located at (insert crossing name here) level crossing. There is a pedestrian on the tracks, I require that you arrange for all lines to be blocked, and immediately inform the emergency services (if necessary)."
How far from a level crossing is considered safe? A: 1 metre B: 5 metres C: 1 foot D: 5 foot edit: the dvsa missed this out in the theory test questions: Safety near level crossings
I'm gob-smacked at how bloody long it takes for the god damn barriers to come down. Why don't they come down as soon as the lights go from Amber to Red? The audible warning sound has been going on for long enough for Christ sake. Also, the British transport police should have automated cameras on these crossings and every vehicle that goes through should gen an automated fine of £500 and six points on their licence. That would stop the selfish buggers in their tracks...pun intended. The same for the pedestrians, £500 fine straight away if the face-recognition system picks them up. And as for the bus driver hanging over the end of the crossing tracks, well, instant dismissal and a £1000 fine for him. He entered the box when his exit wasn't clear - yellow box. And he had how many passengers on his bus?
Great video south coast level crossings! Hopefully this video will give some people a thought about misusing the level crossings. To some people it might be nothing, but it's actually a huge mistake to make.
BTW the man in the hi-vis wasn’t a misuse, he’s NR.
Hopefully you turned this footage in to the British Transport Police, they're the ones to talk to about the matter and they'll have these guys fined.

In Germany, the pedestrians will almost always greet a smiling policeman who talks him into paying our taxes :)

Is it considered misuse if its the yellow light thats showing??
In September 2018, I was on holiday in Harlech in North Wales when I saw a couple standing just inches away from a train. How stupid is that?

Wow people are idiots when I see a misuse I just get shocked what i see but not as worse at what I saw at Madinhead Station!
Hopefully the BTP or a cop watched this and traced the drivers ;)
Why do we need to see the same clip over again? Sorry, thumbs down.
