Really great video! Just a tip - that dark controller overlay is pretty much impossible to see what's happening with the analog sticks, but otherwise, this is the best info out there on the wall chain dash mechanic and how to perform it. Regards from Russia 🇷🇺
well you actually have to practice it. it’s super easy explanation just hit jump button quickly and once you can flip into the wall and stay on it try and chain them together simple.
Hey Seb! Great tutorial you really nailed the in-depth explanation of chain-dashing i've been looking for. You settling the powerslide/no powerslide debate was nice to see as i've seen a lot of different opinions on that. I tried doing this for a bit in freeplay tonight, will probably continue working on it until i can get consistent. Thanks for the content!
Yeah! It's strange, because I've never seen a tutorial talk about chain dashing without powerslide, and since it's harder to control your car without powerslide I thought it was important to note. Sounds good! If you have any questions let me know :)
i hv a problem with this seb, or even u guys: i can do that pretty consistently(like 95% of the times) when i have some momentum, the problem starts when i have low momentum. 1st problem: i find it really difficult to start with low momentum, so if u guys got any advice pls tell me. 2nd problem: sometimes when i have low momentum i start chaindash and i don’t gain any speed dunno why maybe the timing is not good enough? i don’t know. let me know guys if u have any tip for me, ty
You show the controller overlay but can you explain what is actually happening? It's happening so fast I don't know what you're doing or what timing you're going for.
Start off practicing by making sure that you are supersonic on the wall and then try flipping towards the wall then, then once you understand the mechanic at that speed you can try doing it at slower speeds.
i get everything except how youre clicking so fast, i cant jitterclick my jump button like that i dont know how to even start getting it :(( anyone tips? im really good at jitterclicking with my index finger on a mouse but no idea how to do it with my thumb on the controller
You flip into the wall quickly here with a complete side flip presumably. But you still keep holding accelerate on the car during this process? So say you are flipping right into the wall. You keep holding accelerate, and of course, after the flip is done, you are trying to correct for it by dragging your car backwards-left (or brake and left?) every time i presume? I managed to execute the rather "balls to the wall" method of just mashing the flip button with powerslide on. Your method looks so much more appealing. However, I am currently finding myself with 2 issues when trying your method - without the "correction" (I want to see what I would need to correct), and at a speed starting on the wall with just momentum from accelerating the car without boost: 1. If I am at slightly higher speeds, the higher front wheel of my car leaves the wall and of course, comes back to drag the car to towards the ceiling as you have described. 2. Even if I execute the 2nd flip quickly, sometimes, at lower speeds, my car just bounces off the wall. Another issue I find right now is, I am not really seeing an increase in speed with the way I am doing it. If you have any further tips, and time allows for it, I would be very grateful to get some additional pointers. Oo and nice vid on the mechanic regardless
Yes, I essentially side flip into the wall while holding accelerate (no powerslide) and then I quickly reset my position so that I am facing straight again. It's not backwards-left it's just left on the joystick without a brake and every time I flip into the wall I have to do it otherwise the car would go up the wall and you'd lose control and momentum eventually, unless your goal is to go up the wall. 1. Yes. Unfortunately, I believe the only way to combat this is to push the joystick the opposite way very quickly after you complete the walldash to ensure that you stay as straight as possible. However, I would recommend doing what I describe in the point below about starting on the middle of the wall and pointing your car slightly downwards. I can provide a clip if you want. 2. Yeah, it's a tough one to get the hang of and this will happen, but my main tip would to just think of the inputs and doing them in the right order. I just think about: Jump -> Right/Left on the joystick + jump. Then I reset my car position and it do it again, you do to have to do this pretty fast otherwise you will just flip into the wall but you'll be too far away to be able to wavedash into it. I'd also advise starting at around the middle of the wall, maybe slightly higher and point the car slightly downwards for the first walldash as then your car would drag itself towards where you'd want to go in the first place (straight ahead), then once you've gained enough speed you can then start doing the method normally by wavedashing and then correcting the car to ensure it stays looking straight. I'm not too sure which way you are doing it, so if you are able to provide a clip that'd be great. But it is 100% possible to gain speed with the method I have shown, as it's even possible to start it when you're driving at very low speeds on the wall, although it is a lot harder. Thank you! Personally, I would recommend going as fast as possible as I believe that's the best way to learn as the car seems to stick onto the wall a lot easier that way. Let me know if you have any other questions!
@@Sebadam I really appreciate the advice. Do you ever switch between the 2 methods? Your method is very controlled but the spam method seems simpler as long as you can spam the jump button. Also, one more question if you don't mind about your process. Do you let go of accelerate at any point during your rotation? Or is it held down all the time? Maybe me forgetting to hold it all the time makes me fall off sometimes. I have yet to start gaining speed with your method but I am optimistic about getting there. Since your going supersonic on the wall and trying to learn the double jumping onto the wall to figure out the timing advice worked wonders on getting me started. And no disrespect to the effort you put but if you happen to be playing via the steam client, have you considered trying to use the hold to repeat option for the jump button on your controller? XD
@@0verride881 Hmm, because of my control scheme, being able to hold drift while spamming jump is not really that easy for me so I typically don't try it. I never let get of accelerate as then you might even lose speed while walldashing. Yeah, it takes time but I'm sure you will be able to start gaining speed from slower and slower starting positions over time! I am playing on Steam but I've not used the hold to repeat option as I don't think it would really help that much, but perhaps I'll give it a go at some point.
