      Boeing 777 - one of the aircraft with concerns about build quality. What's odd is that it fell from 37000' to 31000', from very thin air indeed to a level generally considered flyable. Recent studies have raised questions about Bernouilli's airflow presumptions in such conditions, as the "distance over/under wing" difference creating a pressure differential giving lift only works if there actually is significant air to do so. Jetstream flows can disrupt that, but are beloved of airlines as they cut flight times and fuel burned. Others comment on this having occurred in the Intertropical Convergence Zone, which has been noted as breaking down in Monsoonal circulation, particularly in the East Indian Ocean. - exactly such a weather shift happened on Monday.

      this is not lucky. someone died, 71 injured, and its Boeing again. saying its lucky is actually insulting to the families of that man and to those who have been hospitalised. the correct response is to ask why this happened, and why again on Boeing? these planes have caused many fatalities over the last year and Boeing murdered the whistleblower!

      True, I try to keep my seat fastened for this very reason. However if you need to go to the bathroom, stretch you legs on long-haul or you are working aircrew then that is not an option. I don't yet know the full facts here. All I will say is that I'm grateful for the heads up until now that pilots have given us passengers and aircrew to buckle up when there was a risk of turbulence. Sometimes not alot happened, other times it got a bit bumpy.

    The plane hit an air pocket, which is a downdraught that causes a plane to lose lift. It says something for the much maligned Boeing airliner that it fell hundreds of feet with many tons of passengers and luggage aboard but didn't break up. I dont think turbulence is anyone's fault, arliners usually fly above the weather but what goes up must come down.

    • @cheddar76
      @cheddar76 24 дні тому

      Increased turbulence is everyone's fault... it's climate related... ironically, the more you fly, the more you're to blame... the air gets warmer = more extreme turbulance. There's whole science papers on it. That's a fact.

      Same. Something is more probable to happen on the ground, but at least you wither die or survive, and that's it. While an accident in the air seems extremely scary as falling down to your death can take minutes or tens of minutes, and if you don't die, you still have to land somehow, totally scared and possibly injured... I've flown 9 times in the last year, 4 of those flights were long-hau, and I definitely wasn't enjoying all that time up there. Seeing the distant lands was worth the anxiety though 😅
