Justice Scalia said the greatest thing about the Constitution and America is the "Separation of Powers" clause in the Constitution. It is what sets our country apart from many other countries governments. Everyone can have a Bill of Rights, but those can be taken away easily by an oppressive government unless of course the government is limited by the Constitution which is what America's Constitution is all about. The "Separation of Powers" clause not just at the Federal level but at the state and local levels is what makes America and it's law to stand the test of time.

Yeah, so it's strange and unacceptable congressional Republicans say NOTHING every time Trump overreaches to steal Congress' power.
Refusing to acknowledge the House's constitutional authority to impeach.
Spending funds Congress explicitly denied to be spent on the Trump Wall, which Mexico 🇲🇽 wax supposed to pay for.
Writing executive orders, including distribution of funds Congress never appropriated so he has no funds to spend.
Illegally voiding Congress' clear purpose for and decision how and when to distribute funds for Ukraine'a military aid so he could force Ukraine 🇺🇦 to "investigate" his political opponent's non-existent crimes. (Somehow the con man who scammed mega-millions out of Trump University students and illegally used the Trump Foundation as his personal checking account was VERY CONCERNED about corruption in Ukraine, which, of course, Joe Biden neither caused nor prolonged.)

I have recently filed separation of powers arguments concerning us of "emergency" powers in two States.
There have already been at least two States whose Supreme Courts have affirmed that core principle,
      --
See In re CERTIFIED QUESTIONS FROM THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT, WESTERN DISTRICT OF MICHIGAN, SOUTHERN DIVISION (MIDWEST INSTITUTE OF HEALTH, PLLC v GOVERNOR) Docket No. 161492, decided October 2, 2020 wherein Justice Stephen Markman wrote:
“that act is an unlawful delegation of legislative power to the executive branch in violation of the Michigan Constitution. Accordingly, the executive orders issued by the Governor in response to the COVID-19 pandemic now lack any basis under Michigan law.” Id. at 1-2
      --
See also the Supreme Court of Wisconsin, case 2020AP765, filed May 13, 2020, REBECCA GRASSL BRADLEY, J. (concurring) (beginning at ¶66)at pages 1-2 remarked that
"[i]n issuing her order, she arrogated unto herself the power to make the law and the power to execute it, excluding the people from the lawmaking process altogether. The separation of powers embodied in our constitution does not permit this."

It's so weird that liberals are freaking out about a religious woman being nominated because they don't want religion in government... but those same liberals are injecting their own ideologies into the constitution when they aren't actually in the text.

@Jarkho The original constitution absolutely gives women and blacks equal rights. Article V of the original constitution gives the ability to propose amendments. Amendment XIV prohibits unequal protection under law and amendments XV and XIX prohibit voting discrimination on the basis of sex.
The amendments are part of the orignal constitution so this idea that the constitution denies equal rights is absurd.

I so appreciated Rachel Barkow's summary of Justice Scalia's principles. Republicans always come from a center of morality, principles and decency. I'm so proud to see there are conservative women in important positions. As a Republican conservative woman myself, I feel listening to Rachel Barkow, that I am not alone. Notice how ACB listened carefully to every word Barkow spoke, nodding at one moment. That is active listening.

Constitution day , just like Independence Day , the French have Bastille Day, celebration of the end of monarchical rule. It follows that a nation of laws and United States should celebrate the Law and the foundational documents that provide for the framework not only of freedom but the order that it rest on.

I am a moderate leftist. In my opinion, Amy Coney Barrett would be a good professor to have in law school and that's about as far as I'll go as a compliment. She has never tried a case nor has she ever argued one in front of SCOTUS. Also, I am a little weary of the Originalist concept. I believe it has many flaws especially when it comes to gun control. Anyway, that still doesn't stop me from watching these videos. Even though I am a Democrat, I think Scalia has made some valid points in his lifetime. I don't agree with most of them but this is America where not everyone's viewpoints have to be the same. However, one could only wonder what Scalia is thinking of how Donald Trump is handling the presidency? Is he George Washington, Alexander Hamilton material? Does he resemble Abraham Lincoln in stature and character?
I am at 12:49 in the video and the other woman featured on the panel is bringing up how Scalia once said what is most surprising about the Holocaust is that it happened in one of the most sophisticated societies in the world. Nonetheless, in the short four years since he as died, America, the most famous liberal democracy of all time, is increasingly becoming closer to an autocratic state thanks to our current Commander-in-Tweet. Scalia, according to the woman that is not ACB in this video, says America is what it is because of our country's decent people. Yet, we have the most indecent human being in the Oval Office. Since Republicans have regained the presidency, our country has never been more divided. Our country is riddled with hatred and the flames are being fanned by Trump. We have a president who is calling for states NOT to count their ballots if they are not finished by election night. We have a president who refuses to commit to a peaceful transfer of power. Now, if Barrett is the Originalist she claims to be, one can only assume that she will stick with the ruling that states are in control in how they conduct their elections, right?

@@julianmontanez6635 He openly calls the media “the enemy of the people.” He says journalists should be thrown in jail. He brags about receiving love letters from Kim Jung Un. He said Article II gives him the power to do whatever he wants. He flaunts about being President for Life.
When in Helsinki, he said “I don’t see any reason why it would be Russia” when asked about Russian interference.
Trump ordered DHS troops into Portland without the Gov. & mayor’s consent. Those troops captured people off the street without identifying themselves and telling them what they’re being detained for. That sounds like Belarus.
Also, Trump continues to call the election a fraud even though his lawyers in court aren’t even arguing that.
The more people that doubt our election system, the more likely democracy is to fail. Simple as that.

Why is such an amoral person like donald trump held in high regard by these quality people? Is it just that he pays lip service to all the right people and even though they know he doesn't personally care about character, decency, honor, faith, values, morals, ethics, or the law, just him saying he does "believe me no one loves the law more than I do" on a public stage is enough.
I'm confused by it as he is the opposite of the goodness they purport.

So, you would need to understand Conservative perspectives in equal proportion to your own. That requires tolerance and a genuine desire to understand other Human Beings. It would also require that you suspend your focus on Donald Trump the person and view his actions on behalf of common Conservative citizens who feel despised by Leftist Elites who consider us uneducated "deplorables" unworthy of existence by their own public admission.
