I'm a student who is currently living in Dresden. My main reason to move here was that it was affordable and has a global high ranked university. It's true the city is really good. I call it my home. It gives you a vibe of a big city as well as a town. The city is also quite international and one thing is, living here you can make double your monthly living expenses as a part-time worker, i.e 1200€ and monthly expenses are 600€
Brother which course are you pursuing, and bachelors or masters?
Are you from Asia?
No loneliness here??
wow, one concern I had was "Yeah the big cities are expensive but If I land a job, it should pay well enough to sustain myself?" so I neglected smaller cities thinking they wont pay much. good to know. thanks.
Totally feel the same way! Dresden has a bad reputation, but most of it is bullshit. Quite international city, while still beint safe and cheap.
I am a student and i am currently living in kiel. I would say it is the most underrated student city in Germany. It is the best city for student i would say. With 200-300€ you can easily manage accommodation here(also private accomodation). There are lots of student jobs here, like working in the cruise ships to working in Gastronomie, Supermarkts etc. I have visited almost every city in Germany and have my friends in almost every cities, kiel is the best city for students..people here are also really good and helpful here. You have lots of things to enjoy especially in summer like kieler Woche. Also other beautiful cities like Hamburg, Flensburg, Lübeck etc are very near. The main drawback is, winter is really depressing here guys.😅😅
Thank you, this is very helpful information 😊
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
Hi Max, as a student who wants to study in Germany, I must say that your videos are super helpful and concise. Watching your videos is already a routine for me now
Glad to hear that ❤️
I spent a semester in Gießen, I totally recommend it, it’s super well connected and it has everything you need as student. ❤️
Thanks for the great info man
You're welcome ❤️
Banger video mate!
Love u 🫶
3 out of 5 in Saxony. No surprises there, and really nice video Max! I myself graduated from TUD and Saxony has no match when it comes to balancing expenses and living standards in general.
💪💪
Ex communist states are poorer than the Western ones for obvious reason. It's good for when you're purely studying, but not so good if you're trying to score some bucks.
Well Greifswald, Frankfurt/o, Cottbus can compete. Maybe people don't notice their existence.
I did my masters in Gießen. The cities universities together may have 45.000 students, but a pretty high percentage of them are not living in the city. Therefore there is not really much going on in the city for nightlife.
And the proximity to Frankfurt led to rents being fairly high outside official student accommodations. And it's not that easy ro get a room there so there is a high chance you have to rely on the free housing market.
nice video brother ❤❤❤
Thank you so much ^^
Hi, was amazing knowledgable videos: what's your thought on Worms?
Sooooo helpful
Glad it helped 🫶
Hi, pretty helpful stuff! I'm planning on continuing my masters in Munich and your videos are a huuuuge help on planning my studies, thanks!
I got one off topic question: I've seen you using some Soundcore headphones, could you share the opinion how they perform in terms of home studio/editing?
Glad you like them ^^
The Soundcore headphones are probably the best item that you can get for that price. Good sound, very comfortable and ideal for editing
I don't know why you are low on subscribers, you should be at least 300k , keep it up💪
Appreciate it ❤️
If you want to do something with electrical engineering - especially computer chips/microelectronics, you should definitely go to Dresden. They have by far the best university in this area in Germany wich if more than comparable to universities like MIT in this field. Dresden is the number one chip manufacturer in Europe and now even TSMC is coming and Infineon is right now expanding its factory.
Damn, thanks for pointing out! I didn't know that
Thanks
After 3months i'm going to Kiel actually ... Can't wait to get there ❤ especially after these infos
Wish you the best!
Thank you very much and first comment
💪🤝
oi oiii I'm early! great video, yet again!
Thanks a lot ^^
What about Wilhelmshaven and Stralsund? Seemed like extremely cheap too, but I've got no way to check :(
Amazing video btw! Will look into those cities and unis for sure
Here is a map of Germany with the cost of living ^^

@@maxyoko omg, thanks a lot! That's super useful
If you like the beach Rostock is a good advice to study 😉.
Max, would you be able to make a video detailing how it would be for a student like myself who already has some time in university but wants to transfer and finish school in Germany?
Thanks, the video is very helpful. I also wanted to find out about your previous video about qualifications. I used the link you shared and it showed that the high school certificate from my country is not equivalent so I have to do a prep course, I also saw a part saying if I get high marks I can get admission how does that work ? I remember you mentioned getting past the prep course....
TIA
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Saarland University as it probably is the only research university that has an English CS undergrad course.
I study in Kiel, the town is super nice! And yes, very affordable, I was able to find a great room at the WG for 225€ a month 🎉
What about finding a job in Kiel? Is it easy to find a job as a student there?
That's incredible!
@@IbrahimAlzoubi-hi2wn it depends if you know German at least at some level, but in general it's possible.
Dear Broski please make one detail video on the ausbildung
Yess!
Max please make a video on 'how to apply to university for studienkolleg'?
Hi Max, thanks for this video. Do you have any information/comments on Luneburg? I plan to be there later this year for a masters program at Leuphana
I don't have any personal experience with the city but here is a good resource: studiengaenge.zeit.de/studienorte/deutschland/niedersachsen/lueneburg
Danke!@@maxyoko
love your vedio bro, it is my dream to learn in germany or japan
Wish you the best!
Amazing video as always! Is there any drawbacks to affordable cities though?
everything has drawbacks, i wish max makes a video on this topic
Jobs pay slightly lower wages compared to the expensive cities
Lower wages. Chemnitz is an exception with more negatives. Its known do have proplems with right-extremes ,neon-nazis and constant protests. If you arent politically very right-wing really stay away. In 2018 a foreigneer were randomly killed by them.A jewish restaurant attacked. I personally would say stay away from chemnitz especially if you are an foreigneer.
What are your thoughts on saarbrücken [University of Sarrland]?
you forgot to add aachen to the list. i will be there next year i hope
yess, also an extremely affordable city
There are definitely more than the 5 I mentioned in this video :)
I have received an acceptance from Hamburg Technic but my only question is if the city will be too expensive. Thanks for the detailed info you've given!
Congrats!
Hamburg is indeed one of the more expensive cities. I don't know your budget, so unfortunately I can't answer your questions
Hey dude, nice vid! Can you tell me about Göttingen?
I lived there for two years and loved it. My rent for a room in a WG in the city center (in an old building) was 250 euros per month.
@@kielyandcarlyphysicsoh, that’s cheap
Nice video!
Can you tell me about bremen please?
Thanks a lot!
The cost of living in Bremen is quite average
Im currently studying 3rd yr bachelors in mechanical engineering. Im worried about the future of a mechanical engineer student in germany. Can u pls make a vid on the opportunities of a mechanical student…btw thank u for making these informative vids🫡
can you do a video about studying in affordable cities that has fachhochschule to study and work
Buen Vídeo ×41
The only problem with TUD is that it offers mainly Diploms instead of Bachelor and Master degrees. Otherwise it's a no brainer for me. The thought of grinding through all five to six years to get a degree is just fearsome and risky.
Can you say something about Deggendorf (DIT) ?
The prices are real. But it does not mean you can go and get it. Availability is also shrinking to booked out.
I study at TU Chemnitz and the rent of my dormitory which is 5 min from campus is 256 euros.
Thanks bro for these videos they are extremely helpful.
Could you please tell me if tum heilbronn campus still free for international students ( no extra fees , only semester contribution)
And what about its reputation is it the same as munich campus thanks !
5:33 then look at a map of Europe?! It’s quite obvious that countries located on the sea have beaches
for me night life in germany is no doubt a trash compared to ones of spain and purgatorial, yettt the classical music + theaters are worth it
Been to a techno club in Berlin? ;)
@@maxyoko no, but next year i will
Can you do a video about dual studium ?
Very soon :)
I would also add, Ilmenau seems to be a good pick.
Been in this city for almost a year. A easy 8/10.
Thanks for pointing out!
I'm planning to come to germany via a job seeker visa for IT jobs. Initially i was thinking to find someplace like berlin but after seeing this, i'm confused whether it would be better to go to these cities as similar to a student I would also be under tight budget constraints.

where are you from brother
Hey me too looking for a degree in CS in germany
@@haribahadur95 Mexico
Whats about Magdeburg, Cottbus... for example? Cities like Dresden (and even Leipzig) are still very expensive...
It means "Gießen" and nothing else.
Georg Büchner studied in Gießen ☝️
I wanna go to Marburg or Mainz, what you think about these cities?
Same im looking for mainz
Is it easier to travel from these cities to other major cities?
now talk about the most sunniest cities in germany
Hi I would like to connect with you regarding my son’s admission into a public university, unfortunately his A level grades do not match the requirements of the Anabin database, but his O level grades are good and he has scored really well on SAT and is learning German. Can you suggest universities who take students outside the anabin requirements.
Thanks for this informative video. I have a question, can i survive on my blocked amount in munich?
Surviving is possible, but with 934€, you have to be really careful with your money
@@maxyoko can it cover everything.. like rent, groceries, .... and all?
@@SurajPokhrel It pretty much depends on how much your rent is. But you probably have to squeeze a lot.
@@maxyoko Thanks for clarification. Keep shining. Keep bringing more informative content. Thank you bro❤
Sicher, dass du Gießen nicht mit Marburg verwechselt hast?
What about Acheen?
Cost of living is quite average there
Aachen?
how viable a solution is a student who rents in chemnitz but studies in berlin, factoring in cost of transportation and time
It's quite the distance from Chemnitz to Berlin... German trains are not that reliable so this might be a difficult thing
It’s way too far! I live in Berlin, but I would never study there. Some years ago we shared an apartment with a university student in Dresden for some days of our final exams of a Continuing education. It was absolutely awesome there 🤗.
In my opinion Berlin and Munich are hyped up way too much. I wouldn’t choose one of them.
Are these cities good for working professionals or expats visiting Germany for job search?
Hi max, I am from an African country and I am 28 years old. I have a bachelor degree already. I particularly have a high interest in a course to study but I will like to study it from the bachelor degree programme level. What is my chancing of getting and admission into a German university considering the fact that I have a bachelor degree already? And with my age too. Please respond. Thanks
You forgot Aachen it is also a good City for Student. RWTH Top Ranking University in Gernmany
Yes definitely a good one!
What about the part time jobs or odd jobs for the students in these cities?
Plenty available, especially in the big cities in saxony
Hello Max,
Please what do you think about Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Science?
I believe they have good education and since they are a Hochschule, it's more practical oriented
@@maxyoko Okay thanks, I appreciate 🙂
How about Rostock and Greifswald... They have good medical schools and they are affordable
what are the job oppurtunities in these cities after graduation
It depends on the city, for example, Dresden is known for Chip Manufacturing
bro you have forgot that the water in germany is extremly cold even in summer, though the beach won't be a good idea i only think, i'd like someone to share if it is really cold or not in the summer
In summer it's still warm enough that you can chill at beaches and swim in the sea. The Ostsee with its beaches for example is a very popular tourist destination
@@maxyoko danke schon max
bro maximum courses in german language at chemnitz university,,,is dortmund afordable for students?
Yes it's not that expensive :)
I have low bachelor degree grades, which universities do you recommend that are free of charge for masters
Hii what about Freiberg
Is Kleve in NRW expensive?
Check out this map ^^ www.mdr.de/nachrichten/deutschland/gesellschaft/karte-lebenshaltungskosten-100.html
Have you done a video on the difference between studying in Germany, with a German Passport vrs as a Foreigner?
I'm an American who's Mother was German (No longer with us) If I go through the Process and get my German citizenship my daughter can get it her's.
German passport is wayyyy easier! You wouldn’t need a student visa as you would have the right to live and work in Germany and that includes studying so definitely get that sorted out first
Hi my bachelor grade converted into German system is 2.3 I'm really worried regarding weather I can get an admission in master's in computer science or something related in a public university. Can someone answer me or give me suggestions regarding a university please.
What about BTU cottbus
Assalamu alaikum Max,I have 11 year degree from school bec of our education system can I qualify for a scholarship?
the guidebook isn't there i cannot see it
Look for his other videos
The link is in the video description :)
I find Gießen unpleasant to visit. Maybe it is nice to live there.
you may prepare for us the German universities offer free tution fees
Most of the public universities in Germany have no tuition fees
What about Heidelberg
I would say it's moderately affordable
@@maxyoko But the university has programs in English, so I think it is a suitable choice for an international student
What are the disadvantages there? Im sure not everything is cool and affordable in these cities
The rise of AFD, I guess.
@@erayagdogan3389 could you elaborate?
@@MishkatChowdhury-pi7yg AFD is an anti-immigrant far right political party that has been raising especially in east germany.

Less job opportunities. You will find it hard to find an internship or job. You will probably have to move to another city after studying which is not too bad.
Honestly, I don't see many disadvantages. The only thing is there will be fewer employers compared to the larger cities but unless you really want to stay there after university that doesn't really matter, imo.

What’s the total cost including living cost of studying in Germany for international students. 🇮🇳🇮🇳
Hey I have made a videos on that topic, check them out on my channel ^^
@@maxyoko okay Thanks ☺️
I believe that you should have atleast €900 approximately to have good student life, isn't it?
The government recommends 850 but 900€ is even better yes, especially in cities like Munich or Hamburg
@@maxyoko thanks for clarification bro 🙂
I am currently living in Leipzig... any questions? :)
how about part-time jobs there? and also monthly expenses
@@22satnam you can get part time jobs pretty much everywhere, since there are many university students, there is also a high demand of part time jobs and the employers are adapting to that.
So, I am currently with my girlfriend in a 2 bedroom apartment, nice kitchen, bathroom with tub and a Balkony in East Leipzig for 606,00€ a month. Internet, electricity and other stuff like Netflix and so on cost about 100€ a month. Groceries I would say about 250/300€ each for a month. Food like takeaway or restaurants we pay from like min 7€ each to about max40€ each for a nice evening. I hope that helps :)
What is the average salary of part time job there
Only problem I see is that most cheaper places to live for students are in the AfD popular areas. If you are a woke uni students in these areas you might have a rough time...
Ich verotte schon in Duisburg ist schon Ok
Video Frame rate is poor, is it just with me ? Or anybody esle have same experience ?
No problem for me
Can I get full scholarship with 3.0gpa
In theory yes, but it's gonna be quite difficult

Nietzsche graduated from Leipzig in Greek philology.
AfD popular areas though. That's my only reason. Otherwise the prices are too attractive. Its so attractive that I even re-considered my finances for studying abroad in Canada 😂
I'll probably still go to Canada and pay few times more cuz I'm Turkish and even though I'm agnostic there's no way to deflect the AfD anti-muslim perspective that sticked on my nationality long ago. I understand why AfD is mad I just don't wanna end up being the one shot for others' religious actions.
Anyways the great north I'm so excited 🎉
Hey I am from India but I am Muslim..do you recommend me going to these cities mentioned in the video?
Saarbrücken is expensive 😪
Yes that's true
