There's always something a little special about a recording of composition conducted by its creator.
It's simply incredible to have this footage today and be able to witness this performance! What a treasure!
Cherie Pierre,

Thanks, bonne journée.
Very moving to see and hear. Also brings back memories of graduations I have attended in the distant past!
Very fine and moving indeed.
This was was the national anthem of England once. Don't disgrace it.

We always marched to this at graduation.
Am not an englishman , but I believe this should be their national anthem
Brilliant, thank you for posting 🇬🇧
I haven't seen this before. What an amazing thing to see. This should go in the time capsule.
In Mark Lewisohn's book "Tune In" he claims this is the first recording made at The Abbey Road Studios - in November 1931.
Beautiful performance, proud to be British 🇬🇧
At the very end, poor old Elgar had to sit down after two minutes of conducting

We know exactly the tempo the composer intended. This is the era of the first recording of George V to the people. Very early.

Does he keep the tempo slightly slower than it is performed today?
...if only he'd had his Wolves hat on...
Prisoners ready for inspection, sir!!
A fine historical document. Not a woman in sight. I think the harpist must have been his brother, but it looked good.
