Dear Barbie that your mother observed your differences in interests and encouraged your own to differentiate from hers is healthy and wonderful. My mom has no capacity or this
Dr Taylor, I just wanted to say thank you for all you do, you are the best at explaining everything that happens before, during, and after menopause. I listen to your podcast as well, and the podcast titled, "Mama comes unglued" Sept 23,2018 is spot on, you hit the nail right on the head! I can totally relate to it. I am 58, had a uterine ablation DNC due to heavy periods in 2010, I still haven't missed 12 consecutive months without a period. I fear going through menopause late in life puts me at risk for ovarian cancer, I had a first cousin that died from ovarian cancer , so my doctor wanted me to get BRCA gene testing, I did and results showed I'm negative for that gene mutation anyway my yearly checkup is coming up soon and I'm gonna ask him to do a sonagram and check for cancer cells in my uterus, I want to have a hysterectomy so I can enjoy the rest of my life without worrying about cancer and having so many migraines anyway thanks again for all you do and I hope you have a wonderful evening. Sincerely, Lorac
Carol, This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. You definitely need one. I cannot tailor things specifically to you in a comment box. It requires much more information than you can give me here, and you deserve much more information than I can give you here. No two women are alike, and addressing your situation requires tailoring all the facts specifically to YOU. I do them all via online video conferencing. You can schedule at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I look forward to meeting you and helping you.
Ouch! Those sunflower seed sized biopsies sound painful..albeit necessary. Seeing the word Metaplasia (on your chart for how cancer develops) reminded me of my maternal grandmother having a sister named Meta. Lol I am already a force to be reckoned with when it comes to my Menopause being managed my way…and the more I learn about testing and treating cancers related to them?…well, they won’t know what hit them. 🤣 I refuse to be ignorant any longer! See you at our consultation soon! 💕
The biopsies aren’t painful per se, more uncomfortable. I had this test years ago (no cancer) and it felt like mild menstrual cramps when they did the biopsies. I’ve had menstrual cramps far more painful during some of my periods over the years. But it’s all perspective. Someone who has never had menstrual cramps may find the procedure more uncomfortable.
I always think in terms of, "What's more painful: The biopsies to diagnose the disease early or the symptoms of the disease when you don't diagnose it early?" Hands down, the symptoms of a late diagnosis are worse.
I had a d& c and hysteoscopy to remove apolyp. Today they tell me it's cancer. And I have to have a pet scan of my body. I'm still in shock. I'm 2 years into menopause. At 60.
Dawn, I am so sorry. Please schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME if you want to understand your situation completely and know all your options for managing it. I do all consultations online. The biggest fear is the unknown, so on education can help you tremendously.
