Reading though all these comments of your peers Dave... I see them as rare-large-beautiful feathers given to you to place in your personal very long, trailing, magnificent Headdress. ✋.... HOW BROTHER good it is/was/and always will be .. Mahalo "The Strapped Crew" ❤
After so many decades of talking about life, surfing, competition, being on this planet and so much more fake-smart-bullshit this is the first time I've listened through this kind of talking in one piece. Not once but twice. Totally blown away by so much truth and good sense about what it's all about. Thank you Dave. You just earned a decent spot in my heart.
Laird might be Captain America and a true legend that the crew I'm sure would not have pushed it as hard as they did without him! Dave was always my inspiration of that pinonering crew. Why? It's all right here! Much respect, Mahalo.
I’m grateful he interviewed and spoke from the heart. Doing what you love is the key to happiness. Just following a dream by hard work and commitment is Momentous. Much respect Dave Kalama.🤙
Such a humble hawwaiian waterman, surfer ! Million respect and salutation to him.my tears almost drop listening to him talks, bow down into his wisdom.🤙🙏❤️
Not many human make that statement.......Alohas Dave. Love to listen to him and his words keeping echoing in my mind. Thanks Dave for been real, totally honest and be open to express it!
that was so good!!remember around one christmas swell at hookipa 18+ seeing only two guys out,one on a longboard putting a smile on that wave face.that was dave!
Great work Brent. History was made by Dave, Laird, Derrick, and the Strapped Crew in the 90's. True Water Men. Watched Dave surf Hookipa in the winter whenever a swell was up. Dave is a quiet guy who let his ability in the water speak for itself. Mahalo!
All of the very best qualities of a good man right here ~ Words more than he's already said have a more than needed ring. All these guys in their squad are the kind you want as friends.
Great interview with a massive collection of quality pictures and videos. I remember when were bus boys in Kihei and we sailed the Kona winds out front of Polly’s on The Beach where we both worked at the time. He was always hard to outdo because he’s a natural waterman and was a good friend of mine at the Time 1985 and on.. You chose well Dave! Mahalo From JR
It was great to listen to such a good surfer and find out that he IS simple, honest, commited, and not a money hungry fool. Greed IS what has bring our world down to the critical point in what we are now, socially and environmentaly.
Most people ACT like they enjoy big waves but it's really just machismo and talk. You can tell it's in soul with this man. Really enjoyed Dave as an announcer at that great contest a few years back...spoke his mind which is really refreshing.
Wise words, looking back I won't be looking at my bank accounts, just looking back at the good times! It's tough when you got bills and responsibilities but you are so right Dave. Great sportsman and great interview.
An amazing vid about an amazing guy........I recall an old Windsurf Mag referring to Kalama as an elder of the sport, and he was 29!!!... He's great and that Jaws footage is supernatural.
Wow. So, thanks. Great insight. Sometimes you get the lessons for free, sometimes you don’t. Our ocean can be a goddess, or can be cruel and insensitive. Light and dark, warm and cold. It’s all good. Well done.😎
For the first time in the surf cultures short history we get a glimpse of how fragile pure surfing is. This man is pure fun, he is exactly where he should be. The ego, the money and the all mighty me me me part of waveriding consumes way too many great people. Share the wave and share the stoke, nobody owns the ocean and whatever way you ride just keep riding with a smile! Please leave that crap on the land where it belongs...
please cut out this absolutely disgusting music from minute 22:48 untill the end.. - commercial music is exactly the counterpoint - the style - the wisdom of everything Dave talks about - otherwise thank you very much! everything else is world class and inspiring ! great interview !
What a wonderful video…talk about somebody who is thoughtful…kind…and erudite…Dave is a Zen Master..thank you!
If you read this, warmest alohas, Dave. Generous, you. Gentleman, you.
Mahalo for da wave you gifted me at Mala🤙
Thank you Dave Kalama to remind us the essense of being a soul surfer! Nowadays it seems to be lost! Wize Man!
Mahalo Dave Kalama. You are the kind of man who makes humility and fun alluring and completely draws us to you.
Reading though all these comments of your peers Dave... I see them as rare-large-beautiful feathers given to you to place in your personal very long, trailing, magnificent Headdress.

I liked her whoever it was.
I would prefere Van Halen... 😂
i wonder if balsa for surfboards could be grown on the old sugar and pineapple plantations to prevent future brush fires
Hi5s … soulful
I have 3 boards from Dave ALOHA Brahda K
Hey man, how about to start making Stikbot videos again ?
this is actually Brent Deal. I have no idea who Noah Fletcher is. But he sounds cool.
