This is to all record labels in general and I'm a bit sorry I'm writing it under Riverside song but... somebody explain to me why should I buy a new album when you release the same thing with bonus tracks or even discs half a year or year later? I'm talking about new Wasteland edition, not the EP itself which isn't even in physical version on its own. Why shouldn't I simply pirate it and support the artist by buying merch and see them on tour? (I do exactly that.) They earn more money from that anyway. Even Spotify and similar services pay only pennies to artists/labels. I just don't understand your way of thinking. I used to collect CDs, I still have quite large collection, but if I wouldn't have stopped years ago I'd stop now because this is almost insulting. You expect collectors to basically repurchase the album if they want the "ultimate experience" or complete collection. I get it when it's a re-issue of 10+ years old album with new mastering and/or bonus dolby sound DVD disc (like Peaceville sometimes does) but when it's a barely one year old album? Sincerely, fuck you.
This the only version of Wastelands i own. Same goes for Love Fear and the Time Machine i had the original versions too but i gave them to my father because he likes riverside too not as much as me. But I don’t care if a band does this
But why not release the 5.1 at the same time as the original album release. The original poster is correct. Labels rip people off by releasing 'deluxe' versions of albums with extra content meaning punters are paying out for material they already own. Think this is the 3rd time Riverside have done this over recent years.
