If you like these Val Verde broadcasting are fantastic and I really loved these guys, they’re british and are so incredibly fun. Check out 28 days later for your first taste of their channel.
I first saw this film at a drive in when it first came out and I thought it was a great film then and I still think, 45 or so years later, it is a great film. Superb low budget film making at its best.
Interesting fact, for those interested. In the unmarked car, lieutenant Bishop is told he is going to do supervisory duty, at Presinct 9 Devision 13. But when he arrives at Anderson Police Station, the plaque above the entrance, clearly states that he is at Devision 14.
Haunting, beautiful soundtrack Mr carpenter. As many others of your soundtracks were. It's cliche...but I've got 'nearly' all your tracks (on vinyl) But there's a little obscure record shop in England only 25 miles from me which stocks hundreds of horror and science fiction soundtracks... Ranging from Italian horror soundtracks... Some very rare.. Loads of horror film soundtracks from USA, UK, Canada, Europe etc.. From 1950's to present. It's just that that sheer spooky haunting Tense emotional sound of it. My second favourite horror soundtrack band......? The Goblins.......an excellent Italian 1970's, 1980's group. Americans may remember the film 'Demons'from 1985/86. That was a goblins soundtrack. Atmospheric Emotionally stirring Haunting Creepy What is it about these sounds that draw us to them? Great films too. Sorry to say...... The remake.......of Assault on precinct 13 ... Was/is.... Rubbish(trash). The german group' The splash band' did an excellent mix of The escape from new York soundtrack.. They entitled it 'Die Klapperschlange' (The rattlesnake).A great faster mix with added female background vocals etc... Still got my vinyl copy.
I still rock this movie from time to time And the VHS copy still plays... Blew us away as kids in the seventies.. still have Caroenters soundtracks on vinyl And yes they still sound great too
Would love to have watched along with him as he spoke, but I know the film quite well, so... One of my all-time favorites and one of Carpenter's masterpieces. 8.5/10

He’s my favorite Director ever. I met him and his sons. Kubrick may have been the epic high budget guy, but John Carpenter is The MAN!!

His first movie was Dark Star. " Benson, Arizona your warm wind through the air. My body flies the galaxy my heart longs to be there."
Thanks for uploading this.
John should've had Nancy Loomis on this commentary ❤
