Have you ever tried sandbag carries? These are an excellent core stability exercise that targets your erector muscles of your back like crazy! . Shout out @billmaeda for the opening stitched video, @thepanash for his deadlift videos & @muscleandmotion for the amazing anatomy graphics.
All great comments, who is a good strength person? Dr Aaron, Dr Mike, Jeff Nippard, and Ben Patrick are all great resources. After 4 decades, I can finally hack squat thanks to Dr Aaron and Ben. 👍👍👍🗽🗽🗽🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
I lifted heavy tires for a few years. Everyone over 6 foot height got disc herniations around their 30’s. I did too. These are great but didn’t prevent that 💩
"heavy tires" well if you used tires from trucks like Kamaz for sure it will end up badly. Too much load and no normal way of warming-up and periodization.
I think I'd have to lean towards weighted front carries. It would seem the higher up the weight the greater the engagement of stabilizing muscles required to stay vertical. Although the opposite could be true. With the weight being lower more weight could probably be carried. The heavier the better perhaps?🤔
I remember seeing a Shaolin kung fu guy train like this but hugging a seating drum made of stone. That improves his squeezing techniques for crushing people.
Who has the strongest back? Strongman, they often take on huge loads in compromised spine postures, that requires incredible core strength and back stability, so if want to get the biggest back possible, go choose some strongman exercises and tough it out with tears and sweat. The golden rule over everything is always this, you get better at what you train.
Weighted carries are mostly overlooked by people who lift. That and also muscular endurance in the upper body. Those things are actually very important if you're active, or work a blue collar job.
I've used sandbags at my local gym and tend to use 15kg to 20kg more than the 25kg to 30kg bags. I recon finding the right exercises that you won't get bored with and increase the bags you'll need over time.
Yes. Zerchers are pretty cool, and they do place a load on your back. But if you're just looking for general back development you're (as another commenter said) likely better off sticking to rows and pull-ups sprinkled with some deadlifts here and there. Granted if zerchers motivate you more and you therefore do them more consistently and with more intent than you would rows/pull-ups, that's okay. You can still build a great back with zerchers.
This guy did not build those back muscles by simply picking up sandbags, hugging them, and carrying them a distance. In his younger days he was a gymnast, martial artist, maybe both, and definitely lifted heavier weights to build his base.
This lady here thinks that this must explain why I lift more and easier than others I know especially the other females and I do it for fun as well as need and most men try to stop me thinking I don't know how or can as safely as I do. Hurting my back is something I don't do. Well I did once, because I tried to pick something heavy up like I see others do, not happening again. I would love to actually learn more about muscles and what those my age can lift. I have to figure out what I can lift now as well at47 years!!!!jc

Farmer walked nice, sandbag...that's just me picking up logs and stumps, we cut down throughout the year, everything's covered 👍
Farmers carry is harder on joints and as a man with a fake hip, that’s the most important thing
Is there any alternatives that would work in that scenario?

When you say heavy tires, how heavy are we talking?

Bill Maeda is the GOAT! 55 years young!
I don't know much about anatomy but I have known since adolescence nothing is more important than the erector muscles...👀🤣

He cant keep getting away with this!
Do both.
My favorite toy is my 230lb sandbag. I'm a 170 fighter, but I aspire to throw heavyweight fighters 😅

I kinda wish unloading trucks and carrying 50 kilos cement bags helped me build such back...
Did you see how the neighborhood looks wonderful to live in
I think he lives in Hawaii

So far I've only used weights. Should probably start using science.
Come to peru , 😢
that guys channel is sick yall gotta watch him
why can the mid portion of the extensors offset shearing forces, but the lower portion can't?
Fine I’ll subscribe
This is how Louis Cyr trained.
How TF 'You' know I carryed Paddy bags today 😂
Ok. Adding sand bag too the mix.
Recently started walking around with a big rock. My god, it destroys my mid back
I want to get into sandbag training. Should I get one or more? What weights?

Well it base on you
Me when I'm carrying both my kids
Accidentally did something similar when the grocery bag handles broke. Felt that in my mid-back the next day moreso than RDL.
So it's almost like Jefferson curls are great for the mid back
Where can you get this nice muscular skeleton 🥺
Do front or zercher squats, single leg squats are like sandbag carries?
How much are thiae sandbags??
That one says 150lbs.. about 68kg
Have a toddler. They’re like weighted bags that fight back.
Does anyone complain when you drop the weights? They're noisy.
OG has an X on his back. Unit.
Zercher Squat better !
Do zercher squats also help with creating a muscular back?
I say yes
No. Just do rows and pullups

Science and roids combined is one hellva drug
How do i stretch those in the upper back?
Lift with your balls
Inverted row hangs - close grip
Lifting with poor posture and a rounded back keeping you big as hell
How is it poor form
Not so helpful as is usually here
Like farmers dont be moving heavy things. This carry is great for training. Try performing like this and youre quiet quitting
Wouldn’t that be the same as a front squat with a long hold at the top?
If you ask me, yes.
guess it depends on how far you plan on walking...front squats don't usually leave the rack area
The Lats are also supose to be in the group of the 'erector spinae' !
Way too technical
I call this exercise "having a job"
I thought the erector was the one that places the load 🤔
Lord forgive me
At least you tried 🥲
Wer ass
Having a strong back is very important. Especially, during your time on the worst planet in the universe - Earth.
TERRANCE OUT
Check him out yall

@X61n78- Fr man. It's fine they don't count😉
I moved sandstone for hrs yesterday. I do a lot of back exercises! My back is definitely the strongest part of my body!
