Great video, Morgan! At first, I thought this was going to be about when to use two hands (on paddle) teaching. However, I love the awareness of using non-dominant hand and its importance. Thanks again!
Ah, the myth of the non-dominant hand. You don't have a non-dominant hand. You have a paddle hand and a non-paddle hand. Your non-paddle hand has a job on literally EVERY shot in the game. It has things it needs to do, things the paddle hand cannot do, so it is dominant for those things. You should understand this by now. You don't have a non-dominant hand.
‘Non dominant’ is common vernacular and I simply use it so I don’t have to say ‘left’ or ‘right’. If I was to spell out every nut and bolt for every term I use in my videos, they would all be 4hrs long. Your point is valid within individual functions during stroke production. A non-paddle hand is dominant in helping to counter balance during many shots but that does not make it dominant in the entirety of the shot. When I practice calligraphy, my left hand is very important to balance myself evenly so that my right hand can be as precise as possible. This doesn’t make it the dominant hand in my heartfelt CoachME Pickleball subscriber thank you notes 😊
