I've noticed that the writers who played major characters on the show made their characters pathetic/toxic. Like Mindy with Kelly and BJ with Ryan, but also Paul with Toby as this guy everybody especially Michael pushes around and is lonely.
One of the greatest things about The Office is that the actors themselves, BJ Novak and Mindy Kaling, were also one of the biggest contributors in writing a lot of the episodes in the show
They've said that they're basically each other's soulmate even if they aren't together. Idk whether he's the father of her child or not, but no one knows. If they weren't real people, I'd ship them until the day I die, but I've learnt that shipping real people is never a good idea.

Me too but Ryan has a lot of issues that make him the way he is. He's an underling--completely underappreciated and abused. He has self-loathing deep down and can never deal with commitment. He doesn't want to get close to Kelly in fear of hurting her. He loves her though more than he cares to admit. According to his love poem he's a child lost on a life raft without Kelly there to keep him grounded.

Me too but Ryan has a lot of issues that make him the way he is. He's an underling--completely underappreciated and abused. He has self-loathing deep down and can never deal with commitment. He doesn't want to get close to Kelly in fear of hurting her. He loves her though more than he cares to admit. According to his love poem he's a child lost on a life raft without Kelly there to keep him grounded.
