As a photographer in Nigeria, I face a daily struggle to pursue my passion. The country's infrastructure is a major obstacle, with frequent power outages and treacherous roads making it difficult to get to shoots and transport my gear.
The economy is unpredictable, with a fluctuating exchange rate and skyrocketing inflation rate, making it hard to budget for projects and plan for the future.
It's also disheartening to see my work being used without permission or proper compensation, thanks to the lack of effective copyright laws.
Despite these challenges, I remain determined to succeed as a photographer. I've learned to be resourceful and adaptable, and I've found opportunities in the growing industries of advertising, fashion, and wedding photography.
But it's not just about the business side - I also wish that people would see photography as a legitimate profession, not just a hobby. I want to be recognized for the hard work and dedication that goes into capturing meaningful moments and telling stories through images.
Still, I remain hopeful that things will get better, and that my passion for photography will continue to drive me to succeed, no matter what obstacles come my way.
