@Armed Chicano It still works just like the day i bought it. I would highly recommend. Just a warning, Do NOT leave it plugged in the wall past the drying period, some of the beads will dry out bad.
I have installed power, lights, and dehumidifiers in 3 safes. (Most safe companies, quit making power supplies now!) The "golden rods" are a potential fire hazard if something fell onto it. So gun powder & fire, inside a metal box = not good! But, they work ok... I do like the PEET brand dehumidifiers. It is safe and works the best, for large safes. The chimney design actually blows heat upwards and circulates it. But for a non electric safe the Eva-Dry seem to be a good option. It is still using silica gell crystals, it just comes with its own recharger / drying element. But I have also read mixed reviews on Amazon, for the quality & durability.
I use the E-500 and can go 6 months on a small (14 cu ft) airtight safe if I don't open it too often. I heat with wood so the air in my house is pretty dry most of the year.
At 3:30 you said 333 sq ft. Amazon sez 333 cubic feet. To approximate, 7'x7''x7' = 343 cubic feet. Also, 6' x 7' x 8' = 336 cu ft. (The cube root of 333 is 6.93 for whatever that's worth.) So, in an average safe in an average climate this unit may last longer. YMMV. It depends also on how often you open your safe. Insights?
I just use those hanger moisture wicking bags from the hardware store, they work great and neutralize the odors. But that's only for long term storage and even at that, not necessarily needed anymore with today's metals and treatment methods.
How long does it typically take while plugged in? Also...there are million shades between yellow and green. Do you wait until fully green? Do you wait until fully yellow when charged?
Could I use this to protect my camera lenses from moist and fungus in the air in a storage box? Or would this be too powerful and damfe my camera lenses?
Oh, man.... Ehren, "most silica dehumidifiers" can be re-charged by baking in an oven. If you have the space to store junk, I suggest keeping them. 15 minutes in a toaster oven at 150F and they're good to go. If you're talking about bigger canisters, then those might need up to several hours to recharge.
Those all can be "recharged" by drying them. Toaster oven, lowest setting e.g. ~150 F. If you spread all the packets out so they're not stacked, then probably only need 10~15 minutes (including warm-up time).
Is there a preferred location inside the safe where the moisture is most concentrated to place the Eva-Dry? Near the top or in the bottom of the gun safe?
I have to do long term storage for all of my guns before I go to basic in a couple weeks and I'm adding this to my list for it what else would you recommend for long term storage?
Always watch your videos, they are very informative especially CA gun laws. Can you please help me determine which safe I should buy for my rifle and couple of handguns? Thank you sir.
Is it safe for a small safe and I own a few wood stock guns I was worried about it drying them out and cracking them have u heard of that happening with these ? I’ve heard things about the rods doing that cause of the heat but I didn’t know how the Eva dry would do
Excellent item to have. I've had one for about 5 years now. don't know how mine is lasting this long but I recharge it before it turns completely purple...(or was it pink). I'd like to get another though...put one in my shopping cart. Thank you.
I haven't tried one but after browsing recent reviews on Amazon, they seem to be a bit of a fire hazard. Not sure of the manufacturing process has changed in the couple years this video has been up but just wanted to let you know
On Amazon amzn.to/2LOabrd
I just bought one after watching 3 mins. Thanks for looking out for the 2A community.
Same. Clicked the link below and ordered on Amazon half way through the video.
Me too!
@Armed Chicano It still works just like the day i bought it. I would highly recommend. Just a warning, Do NOT leave it plugged in the wall past the drying period, some of the beads will dry out bad.
I use these same dehumidifiers too and love them. Thanks for the review 👍
How long does it take to recharge? Thanks
@@OmarJace It takes about 8 hours. They work great.
These work great, I have had two of them in my safes for years.

everywhere i looked when i was in the market was sold out of the EVA- dry so i went with the Hornady one instead which is still rechargeable
May try that one. I have the golden rod I think it’s called which is plug in.
Eva-dry? Sounds like a feminine hygiene product lol
Now this is why I wanted to learn about, I've been throwing silica packets in the cases and safe every time I get some with a new product/clothing
I just use those hanger moisture wicking bags from the hardware store, they work great and neutralize the odors. But that's only for long term storage and even at that, not necessarily needed anymore with today's metals and treatment methods.
I've had this in my cart I'm gonna have to get it now
This video just reminded me to plug in my Eva-Dry.
You're preaching to the choir, because I use those as well and they are great.
What I need is a De-liberal-ifier... Seriously we need them!
Haha I Know!
I’m a liberal and I own several guns. What’s your point?
Any products for firearm preservation absolutely jump all over do videos for. Keep up the great content
Thanks for the hook up,, Just ordered a couple of them!!
Any update on the magazine hold or the CA handgun roster?
Id been wondering the same thing...Id not seen the Eva Dry..Just fixed a problem for me.Many Thanks
Mine doesn’t turn yellow anymore when I charge it does that mean it’s no good anymore? Thanks
Just what I was looking for. Great video.
You are a life saver man thank you very much no more gold rod. My wife always complains about me starting a fire.
Golden rod heats to 180 i believe paper burns at at 480F and most cloth 410 so no real chance of a fire.
I have one in my safe could I put another one like this in there
I bought 2 last month and they work great!
Thank you for the video!
I have 2 of these. It's time for the beads to be replaced. Any idea how much?
How long does it typically take while plugged in? Also...there are million shades between yellow and green. Do you wait until fully green? Do you wait until fully yellow when charged?
Great video. I’ll be buying 2 to put in my safe. I’ve been looking for an easy solution and this seems to be it
Buying this today..! Good shit bro
Could I use this to protect my camera lenses from moist and fungus in the air in a storage box? Or would this be too powerful and damfe my camera lenses?
my teabag is nice and dry now...thank you
Been looking for a dehumidifier, just bought 2, thanks man!
Great. Thanks. Will check this out.
Just clicked and bought it to support you
That's absolutely fantastic is most silica dehumidifiers I've seen are you just use once to throw away. Way cool product
Oh, man.... Ehren, "most silica dehumidifiers" can be re-charged by baking in an oven.

Can you use eva-dry in a wooden gun cabinet that is hand made out of finish 3/4” plywood? That is stored in closet.
I've totally been throwing those silica packets in my safe the kind you get work a new pair of shoes. I like the reusable idea
Those all can be "recharged" by drying them.
Toaster oven, lowest setting e.g. ~150 F.

thanks I just ordered one .
I just pick this out at Amazon today. I guess it last multiple years from what I read on the description.. nice
Read the reviews before you buy it!
Yes man, i needed to see this.
I use those as well and they work great!
Thank you.
Nice ive been getting the huge dollar store dehumidifier for a dollar but this i think worka better
I have a question.
I recharged mine for the first time and when I removed it it was incredibly HOT. Is this normal?
Is there a preferred location inside the safe where the moisture is most concentrated to place the Eva-Dry? Near the top or in the bottom of the gun safe?
Good to know. What’s the ideal temp/humidity for a safe interior?
I have one of these, after about 3 recharges, the crystals stopped turning yellow when plugged in.
Can you just leave them plugged in if you have a power outlet in your safe?
Thanks !
I have to do long term storage for all of my guns before I go to basic in a couple weeks and I'm adding this to my list for it what else would you recommend for long term storage?
Does it have to be Hanging somewhere? Can I put it on a shelf?
I use them for my closets too
Always watch your videos, they are very informative especially CA gun laws. Can you please help me determine which safe I should buy for my rifle and couple of handguns? Thank you sir.
Been using mine for 5 years.
Will a box of baking soda work?
I’m no expert but baking soda is a salt so I personally wouldn’t use it.
But, your safe will stay fresh! I have used bags of instant rice, with good success... No pun intended!
@@chrissewell1608 With good sauces ?
Where should I place it
how long do these usually last. had 1 about a yr now and it wont go back to yellow now matter how long I leave it plugged in
That's the one u use and it works great.
Is it safe for a small safe and I own a few wood stock guns I was worried about it drying them out and cracking them have u heard of that happening with these ? I’ve heard things about the rods doing that cause of the heat but I didn’t know how the Eva dry would do
I know where you live, how to you make enough humidity for one to work? So I went and ordered one. Thanks.
How long do they last before you recharge
actually turns more. orange than yellow when ready
I have 3 of these in my safe.
That is awsome!
Good video and product...
Fantastic
Well, we don't really need dehumidifiers in California am I right?
They probably would cause cancer, in California! No where else though.
we definitely do need them I have two of these in my gun safe and I have to dry them out about every two weeks
Keanu: Whoa!
How long does it have to be plugged in to dry itself out?
Usually plug it in at night, and it will be ready when you get back from work the next day. So less than 24 hours, but more than just overnight.
About 10-12 hours for me
Is it normal for the humidifier to get really hot while charging? Im concerned about a fire. Anyone?
Can I CCW a AR pistol in California?
I just use wd40 on the guns and never had problems of rust, have them in a locker and here in the south it’s not dry
I’d rather just buy a $20 dehumidifier than cover all my guns in wd40
Haha! Got them at Costco good stuff!
I use one of these
Excellent item to have. I've had one for about 5 years now. don't know how mine is lasting this long but I recharge it before it turns completely purple...(or was it pink). I'd like to get another though...put one in my shopping cart. Thank you.
The silica gel will last many decades.
It's the plastic housing, the wiring, the solders, etc., that'll fail first.
How about one for a 2 pistol size safes??? That one is way to big.
Get a bag of success rice! It'll suck the moisture out of the air!
Member it’s not the HEAT it’s the humidity!!!! Lol
It's REmember, not "member". Lol
Johnny Future “ketchup!! catsup!!!” Lol
Is it normal for the humidifier to get really hot while charging? Im concerned about a fire. Anyone?
I have several around the house ; they do fell hot when charged, but not hot enough to ignite
@@ancag4780 Thanks
Its not that its toxic...the small packets pose a choking hazard...true silica gel is inert...just sayin'
I haven't tried one but after browsing recent reviews on Amazon, they seem to be a bit of a fire hazard. Not sure of the manufacturing process has changed in the couple years this video has been up but just wanted to let you know
If they are heating up and "cracking" then they are doing their job. Don't mind the heat.
nothing worse than pulling out that one gun thats been in the back and it has rust on it
333 square feet.... my safe is in cubic feet. Well I guess I have to do math
333 sq feet is the size of a big walk in closet or a medium size bedroom
I hate chafing
So what is your Instagram
Come on man do a giveaway
Why does chipotle give me diarrhea
Well, when I find a safe under $14.00 I'll buy a dehumidifier!😄😄😄😄
First
they are like 25 at bass pro. damn bidenflation
