OK, there are lots of exclusive Playstation games, but most of them are actually for the PS4… why would I even bother? I’ll be keeping my vanilla PS5 for a loooooong time, thank you very much.
I'm torn because I never got a vanilla PS5. I wasn't going to fight scalpers for one, or pay scalpers nearly $1k for it. And it took time for the current-gen library to build up. Then by the time they were readily available, the release of the Pro seemed around the corner. I'd have been okay with $600 without accessories, but $700 is harsh. Especially since that's currently a lot for me. I'll have to decide if I want to wait for a sale... or hope I have enough credit card points to cover most of the cost.
Like always, US prices don't include sales tax and the prices in Europe do. Add 19% for the German market for example to those 635€, you end up with 755€.
US prices pretty much never include taxes because they differ from state to state. The final price that US folks will pay is going to be closer to (or even higher than) 800$
I'm a playstation fan and I don't complain as much as some internet types but the price is a bit too high for definite. Don't know what they was even thinking because they should know consumers hate when you raise price and take away features. Removing the disc drive was such a dumb move. I was considering PS5 pro (was on the fence anyway) but I'll just wait for PS6 at this rate. I really hope they've not delayed PS6 too long for this overpriced thing haha. The weird thing is the PS5 was released 4 years ago so a GPU upgrade shouldn't really cost that much difference because performance would be better by now anyway with newer tech. They said 45% faster rendering while charging over 50% more price even though it's 4 years down the line and they're taking away the disc drive.

100% I coped just fine without the PS4 Pro and I'll cope equally fine with my day one disc drive PS5. Honestly people are way to OCD about frame rates and tiny difference in graphical fidelity these days.

Am I the only one getting PS3 flashbacks from this? The PS3 when announced didn't feature any massive new game announcements and most of the talk was about a higher fidelity rather than new features. Then they reveal the price and you're hit with a "That much for a console? How? Why!?" reaction. At least the PS3 was a whole new console generation, the PS5 Pro doesn't have that excuse. The price was so insane at the launch of the PS3 that they had to lower the price significantly and sell it at a loss for years, feels like this might be the case for the Pro which is sad. Instead of this being an incentive to get the PS5 for those people who haven't gotten one yet, it's just another reason to wait even longer for price drops. Also, why tf does it cost a 100 euro more than pounds and USD?! Ok, fair the pound is worth more than the euro, but not that much more. Not to mention that USD is worth LESS than Euros. As of writing this comment it's 182$ more expensive in countries that uses Euro! I'm Norwegian and it's rumored to cost 9000 NOK here which is 130$ more...
Planned on getting one to experience GTA6 sooner, but now I'll gladly wait a year or more to play it on PC. They've already lost my sale. Haven't owned a console since PS2, now I'm not going to bother with a PS5 of any sort either lol.

PS4 Pro GPU was over 2x faster than base with a bumped CPU. This is a 45% faster GPU, same CPU, and "AI" upscaling. It's not even fidelity mode at 60fps. It's "near" fidelity mode at 60fps.

Indeed. I was already suprised by such a steep price, I forgot to look if the disc-drive was attached. And then they don't even mention anything about it, but they do about the vertical stand. For that price, the disc-reader and vertical stand should be included.

Which has a pc port that has Ray traced shadows that the console version doesn't (granted you need quite a beefy gpu to take full advantage of the enhancement). The people who hyper focus on graphics and performance tend to go to pc. Don't really see how well this will do even compared to the 15% share the ps4 Pro has given there's less of a performance wall with the PS5 than the 4 had

depends on the game. black myth wukong at 60fps on ps5 looks like an impressionistic painting at times, the image quality is that poor. ff16 drops to 720p in its 60fps mode
They didn't want to trash their cash cow the regular PS5 so this presentation was always gonna be tricky ("see how poorly games look on ps5"). They should have have showed something new/not possible on ps5 to avoid that

I'm torn because I never got a vanilla PS5. I wasn't going to fight scalpers for one, or pay scalpers nearly $1k for it. And it took time for the current-gen library to build up. Then by the time they were readily available, the release of the Pro seemed around the corner. I'd have been okay with $600 without accessories, but $700 is harsh. Especially since that's currently a lot for me. I'll have to decide if I want to wait for a sale... or hope I have enough credit card points to cover most of the cost.
We don't want slightly clearer and shinier graphics. We want more games with better gameplay.

Like always, US prices don't include sales tax and the prices in Europe do. Add 19% for the German market for example to those 635€, you end up with 755€.

I'm a playstation fan and I don't complain as much as some internet types but the price is a bit too high for definite. Don't know what they was even thinking because they should know consumers hate when you raise price and take away features. Removing the disc drive was such a dumb move.
I was considering PS5 pro (was on the fence anyway) but I'll just wait for PS6 at this rate. I really hope they've not delayed PS6 too long for this overpriced thing haha. The weird thing is the PS5 was released 4 years ago so a GPU upgrade shouldn't really cost that much difference because performance would be better by now anyway with newer tech. They said 45% faster rendering while charging over 50% more price even though it's 4 years down the line and they're taking away the disc drive.

Am I the only one getting PS3 flashbacks from this? The PS3 when announced didn't feature any massive new game announcements and most of the talk was about a higher fidelity rather than new features. Then they reveal the price and you're hit with a "That much for a console? How? Why!?" reaction.
At least the PS3 was a whole new console generation, the PS5 Pro doesn't have that excuse. The price was so insane at the launch of the PS3 that they had to lower the price significantly and sell it at a loss for years, feels like this might be the case for the Pro which is sad. Instead of this being an incentive to get the PS5 for those people who haven't gotten one yet, it's just another reason to wait even longer for price drops.
Also, why tf does it cost a 100 euro more than pounds and USD?! Ok, fair the pound is worth more than the euro, but not that much more. Not to mention that USD is worth LESS than Euros. As of writing this comment it's 182$ more expensive in countries that uses Euro! I'm Norwegian and it's rumored to cost 9000 NOK here which is 130$ more...

depends on the game. black myth wukong at 60fps on ps5 looks like an impressionistic painting at times, the image quality is that poor. ff16 drops to 720p in its 60fps mode
They didn't want to trash their cash cow the regular PS5 so this presentation was always gonna be tricky ("see how poorly games look on ps5"). They should have have showed something new/not possible on ps5 to avoid that
