ISIS: A History (Princeton, 2016 press.princeton.edu/titles/106... ) examines the influences of dictatorship, poverty, sectarianism and foreign intervention in the Middle East on the rise and growth of ISIS, and explains why we must address those problems to ensure its end. This short, animated film explores some of the book’s central ideas. Its author, Fawaz Gerges, is Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics. He is an expert on many aspects of the Middle East, including the rise of militant Islamism.
