Dang, if you had asked the ranger at Lake Tiorati about the re-route it was posted same day and even before the re-route there are many ways to get around it with minimal additional miles. The reroute they posted however was insane. But better routes were available, for example, the Nurian Trail which is 1.5 from the closure on Orange Tpk. Or when he first drove you guys into the park on RT106 he also could have let you off right away and you'd only have had a 1.2mi dirt road walk to the north side of the bridge at lake stahahe. The road closure on the other side "Local traffic only" at 2:17 wouldnt have stopped you because they let people drive to the parking lot which is directly on the north side of the bridge from the opposite direction, but the Uber driver wouldnt have known. There's a free map of the park out there just google. Good part is when you finish up your initial gap from the surgery you can return to do this and visit NYC again....and it's nice section of the park worth seeing and important because this section is the first blazed section of the AT in 1923. You could combine it with another few trails to get over to bear mountain

Your videos are so entertaining I'm going to watch all of them
again in the middle of the winter cuz it'll make me look forward
to summer. You should have gone to meteorological school and
become a local TV weather person. You have a big enough
personality and you certainly have the looks that you would
excel in a job like that.

The section you missed was just down Arden Valley Road (which you took uphill from the Tiorati traffic circle), which leads back to that bridge at Elk Pen. Very nice section, Island Pond, Lemon Squeezer…
Guaranteed bear encounter Between Fingerboard shelter to Lake Tiorati overnight

Morning Kelly! Welcome to mile 1400! Sure was an adventure getting back to the north side of the bridge. At least you got some beach time in while you figured it out. What did you end up doing? Skipping the miles or figuring out how to get to the bridge? I would have doubled back and done the section twice but that’s my hiking life right now. Tell Popeye that some day hikers are living their best life too and to be more kind! You never know when a day hiker or section hiker could save your life! Im guessing you are damn close to Katahdin since this was 50 or so days ago. I am so excited to see the videos from my states❤️ I hope you loved it up here! 🙏 Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. #giveashit

@9:10....i've said this before...you Never wanna mess when they are around. The longest i've harvested was 78" in Gulf Hammock, Fla...I get chills thinkn about him 'tagging' my GOKEY snake boots. When i was a 16, we were quail hunting in the Palmetto bushes and one 'tagged' one of our dogs, on a Sunday afternoon, 2 hrs. from Town : / Nothing we could do...when my Papa said, "Sport, i need you to go back to the Jeep....but why Papa"....sadly, he had to put our dog down....I never thought i'd see my grandfather cry like that since he'd raised 'Floyd' our dog as a pup : /.......Be careful!! ***MEGA Kudo's for getting him Off the Trail....that's a $125,000 visit to the ER.

Not a nasty creature. That creature has as much right,if not more, to be there. The snake is not in your space, you are in the snake’s space. Besides, if you were feeling a bit tired, I bet that encounter got your adrenaline going and perked you up.

But does he/she/it/they have a right to inherently Bite/Tag you as you gently walk by and inflict near death and a 125K ER bill? That is the question....

@@go-dog-go I've walked past many timber rattlesnakes in harriman. Often I get a kind "rattle-tattle," or a noisy bzzzzzz of a scared one. Stop, observe, just walk by if you have space and they arent in defense mode, give them space and in time they'll leave, they will never attack unless provoked, which could be accidentally.
