The guys there explained how the welds were done and how they got the 2 halves aligned for it to me, the guy did a flawless job with the welds, and the guy in the video did an amazing job with the restoration. I am always afraid to touch those toys even though I know I wont break them, because I know how much effort went into the build. Protecting stuff from high frequency signals, and keeping things from interfering with radios is more complex than people think. I was fixing a basic window wiper motor and couldn't figure out why it had an extra capacitor and choke (Inductor) on it, Turned out both Caps and the inductor were to prevent interference of the motor with the original Communication equipment. He mentioned the shielded spark plug wires but pretty much everything electrical is suppressed. Pretty impressive the amount of thought that has to go into these systems even vehicles that old. Thanks for the deep dive.
I love your approach to these interviews. You are not trying to be the centre of attention but instead, you ensure the subject matter and the featured expert are the focus of the content and only ask useful questions to prompt an informative response. Through your videos, you are not only preserving the memory of these fascinating historic vehicles but you are also preserving the knowledge of the people you find and it is clear that you respect both.
Greetings and salutations from Great Britain. Looks like our favourite Tank Girl just found her perfect first armoured vehicle. It's Sofilein fun size. NB. You see. It is possible to make right hand drive vehicles in north america, not the usual wrong hand drives. Of course it would help if y'all would drive on the correct side of the road.
I missed it this year - work got in the way. The museum is only about 10 minutes from where I live. Every time I visit there, I feel like I regress in age the closer I get, and by the time I park the truck and start walking I turn into a 5 year old, frantically running from one display to the next. If we still live in the area when I'm retired, I will spend some of spare time volunteering at the museum.
Talk about a Silk Purse out of a Sows ear! Beautiful job of restoration and some more history saved and preserved. I wonder if they could have done this without the internet? Gathering parts, information and people from all over the world!👍🤣👍
Great story and a very cool piece of history, always love learning about equipment that I don't know much about, now I have to Google it 😂, thank you for your father's service!
Have to try and schedule summer camps different for the kids next year. That way dad can drag them all around one weekend pointing and gasping excitedly .... lol
Wow really cool! Would have loved to hear the engine and seen it run, too bad in that regard. Amazing feat getting it back together after the state it was found it. Looked like an unsolvable puzzle!
I had the opportunity to spent some time in a recently restored Ford Lynx V8 in Milan and Ferrara, and the owner shared a similar perspective on the vehicle: it's agile and speedy. I happen to know two Italian collectors who are in search of tires for their Canadian vehicles, but unfortunately, such tires are extremely rare to find here in Italy. If this collector would like to help them with the purchase, I would be happy to facilitate their connection.
I wonder if they had a rain cover? Or soldiers just had to throw their rain ponchos over the hole or a random tarp ? I love armored scout cars, in pop culture because of the sheer amounts if Jeeps, thats all everyone ever saw in the movies, for decades... But in reality they are way more common, everyone has seen all the tanks too, to me these little guys draw my eyes more.
I remember diving on an artificial reef here off queensland australia and coming across 4 big wheels with the old chevron pattern tyres attached to vehicle that was upside down, took me a couple of minutes to work out vehicle was an ex australian army ford lynx, what a waste i thought!
LOL - these comments and the video don't line up... I'm watching an MMA video and the comments are about a WWII vehicle restoration and I'm so confused... IDK if I'm commenting on the right video... hopefully they make it to the MMA video I'm watching... I was so confused...
Mackenzie Dern could lose 20 in a row and would still make 200k just because guys like me tune in to check her out her fights... it could be the shittiest fight card, if Dern is on it, I'm watching and rooting for her
I'm glad you got it in its wartime condition again.
A great piece of history and story preserved. Thank you Sofilein for sharing with us.
Now there is a RARE piece of history. A next level restoration.
Thank you Sofi. I hope you have lots of fun this summer with lots of Tanks🌞🌞
Sofi coming thru with another great behind the scenes slice of history
That is a really cool little machine! Thank you so much for this video and congratulations to this gentleman on this awesome restoration!
great restoration... and good questions you asked too

Thanks Sofi, and thank you also Pete.
Outstanding restoration done to bring that vehicle back to life . Excellent work on all levels ...
Thanks for sharing this piece of Canadian military history.
The escape hatch, that's one for the "chieftain", "bugger, the tank is on fire".
I was praying sofi would wiggle out of it with no effort at this point lol

It's really a privilege to be able to do this stuff, I'm grateful to have such opportunities and I'm really glad you enjoy it! More on the way.
Very cool piece of history. So glad you found it and brought it back to Canada for restoration.
Awesome seeing these gents being so dedicated to maintaining this awesome piece of history!

Great short document / interview with a great guy and his beautifully restored armoured car .
Did you get to have a drive in it?
Would love to take a ride in that.

Interesting steering wheel is not straight.
I thought so too! So clever.
Niiice!
Of course it has the official FORD badge on it.
Only this recon and the German Fennek. Okay, maybe PT-91 Twardy. The best-looking AFVs.
Nie znałem takich pojazdów wojskowych pozdrawiam 😘
Another fuckin banger! 🎉
I wonder if they had a rain cover? Or soldiers just had to throw their rain ponchos over the hole or a random tarp ?

Nice to see a military history personality who is aware of all the countries that made up the Allies, BZ.
✌
Come on! You guys know you want 1!
Almost identical to the Daimler Dingo but about 20% bigger in all dimensions
The Dutch brought this Scout car to Indonesia too. To fight the freedom fighters, from 1945 to 1949.
Lovely welding, you cannot see the join.
Wasnt it called ferret in uk
I remember diving on an artificial reef here off queensland australia and coming across 4 big wheels with the old chevron pattern tyres attached to vehicle that was upside down, took me a couple of minutes to work out vehicle was an ex australian army ford lynx, what a waste i thought!
That's wild!!
Always humbling to see how small these scout vehicles get. Modern soldiers probably cant fit into these, especially if in their modern gear.
You were in Ontario and never stopped by? 🤷🏻♂️
Sofi, we still never get to see YOU do anything.
Bummer.
And you couod have asked him at 7;10 if that meant the vehicle can withstand EMP. ;)
Someday maybe I'll be able to afford a camera crew! It's a privilege to be able to be there and hold the camera to hear the stories even so :)
But DID the Chieftain fit????
Dingos don't exist in Canada. Shows how smart Canadians are.
To casuals, Dern is a bigger name than any of those other fighters, just b/c she's so hot...
