    Teresa of Calcutta (Uskub, Ottoman Empire -now Skopje, Macedonia-, 1910 - Calcutta, India, 1997), born Agnes Gonxha was a Catholic nun of Albanian origin, naturalized India, who founded the Missionaries of Charity congregation in Calcutta in 1950.
    For over 45 years she cared for the poor, sick, orphans and dying, at the same time that she guided the expansion of her congregation, first in India and then in other countries of the world.
    After her death, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II, granting her the title of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.

    She also faced a series of criticisms, such as objections from Christopher Hitchens, Michael Parenti, Aroup Chatterjee and the Hindu World Council, who blamed her for a reactionary mentality and criticized the poor attention in the centers of her.
    She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
