They are trying to slow/stop another horse running at full speed without breaking the rope while keeping their horse in the box. They wrap the rope around the horn on the saddle to create resistance just like you would with fishing by using the drag to slow then stop horse. They’ve effectively “caught” the horse without the rider or either horse being hurt. It’s actually pretty amazing, I think.
Thanks! Was looking for more info. What's the rope made of? Would've been cool if it was a bit zoomed out so you can see how much the other horse is slowed down
Thanks for explaining. I was wondering what their method was. I'm sure they dont, but wouldnt the horse neck get burnt with the hot rope? Also how does the rope not just end? It looks to just stop the other moving animal when it reaches its end?
My horse was used for this and he has a big rope burn scar on his back legs and extremely scared of ropes now. I have worked with years with him on ropes to get away with his fear and he will always be afraid of them. When he even looks at one or gets touched by a rope he shakes and tries to run away. He has back leg and hip issues from this and it’s very sad that I see this is still going on. With they would ban that
It's not cool they make that horse run so the man can lasso the horse in the process the horse gets rope burn and gets yanked round the neck it's not cool it's abuse they make the horse run just for that

The Cowboy👢🐴 culture has its origin in northern Mexico 🇲🇽 The creators of this art were the Mexicans, (not the US-Americans) the modern Cowboy was born in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, then the Mexicans raised cattle in the current area of Texas, when it was Mexican territory, before the annexation to the United States , the lifestyle, work, clothing, dance, were immediately imitated by the Americans, after the annexation of the territory of Texas. California also had skilled men on horseback, according to Richard Henry Dana, who wrote a book about that region in 1840 when it still belonged to Mexico. As described: When they make long trips, they ride one horse until they get tired and grab another, go over the support and bridle and, after running off the animal, take a third and so on until the end of the trip. There are no better cowboys like the Mexicans in the world.

What is smoking the rope burning or the saddle horn from the friction and if so does it hurt the saddle horn.

Im still wondering where the smoke comes from, does it come from the rope wrapping around the wooden thing infront of the cowboy? Or do they have some sort of accessories for the smoke show?
If it is the friction of the rope and the head of the saddle, the smoke only comes out if it catches the hind legs of the horse
