Interesting. Yah it’s next level how that board flys and cuts, and watching JJF free surf on those boards is gnarly., seems a little inconsistent for contests at times.
Right. When he uses those boards on big whackable hawaii free surf days, epic clips. But then used it at sunset and was definitely under gunned there too.
Exactly he was trucking ripping, way underscored. The judges and the commentators really wanted Jon to win, talking up Jon's waves and talking down Rio's waves. Mitch Salazar is obviously being told who to talk up. Typical WSL judging, overscoring the favourite (Jon) and way underscoring Rio.
Rio had a good heat and deserved the win but -- for me you can't compare that to the power and flow of JJ. When JJ linked turns, i.e. the 8, he's in another league. JJ not putting heats together lately tho
Spot on John's waves were incredibly overscored and Rio's incredibly underscored. Rio absolutely dominated this heat but the scores would say it was a close heat 🙄
@@mailefreire What I assume is happening is: viewership is dropping fast last few years in the United States and Australia with the Brazos dominating so the WSL is trying to rig the competition to create more of a storyline?! They did this a decade ago for Mick Fanning and made him a 3X champ by over-scoring him when really he only deserved one of those championships.
I think jjf's boards that are under his feet might not be good for comp or for the viewers appeal but when you see him gouge that edge in and drive his back foot through the lips face and just push back as hard as he can almost looks like John is taking on the ocean not his apponant. It looks like he is riding for fun. That was one of the sickest slashes ever
JJ board, to small. You wait z everyone will be stepping up inches soon. Can't get the power we used to and the control when you have all that speed. Something's not working on that board
he is LITERALLY in the same league. you've been watching them compete in the same heat of the same competition because .... you guessed it - THEY'RE IN THE SAME LEAGUE. LOLZ
Rio’s quickly becoming one of my new favourite surfers. That rail game is absolutely vicious 🇲🇨✌️
Ever since JJ switched to the red dragon models his surfing has in my opinion has not been as sharp.
Interesting. Yah it’s next level how that board flys and cuts, and watching JJF free surf on those boards is gnarly., seems a little inconsistent for contests at times.
Unless the waves are really punchy or powerful that board struggles to get speed
Yeah. His surfing looks off. I think this board might be better in punchier waves like of the wall or even ehukai on bigger days
Right. When he uses those boards on big whackable hawaii free surf days, epic clips. But then used it at sunset and was definitely under gunned there too.
Board not looking good under John's feet! Inside rail digging
Those conditions for Rio were so similar to Padma st on a high tide, no wonder he was ripping
Rio got a 7 something for that one wave? That's nuts! At least an 8

@@jaycee571 wsl is desperately looking for an american golden boy… JJF is their biggest chance!
rio was shredding so hard holy

John struggling with wave selection and picking the right line tbh
8.43 for JJ... lol
The scoring is laughable. John did not have the highest scoring wave of that heat!
Spot on John's waves were incredibly overscored and Rio's incredibly underscored.

WSL will do whatever it takes to put JJ through.. but Rio was ripping too hard

Waida is ready for bigger things
Board not looking good under John's feet! Inside rail digging
O cara quase chorou quando o John errou a manobra....
Yeah, can’t get anything higher than a five unless you do a helicopter spin. It’s essentially a reverse chop hop…
Rio killing it!
Rio’s double air fueled the fire
Go wider Rio, opps.... GO! Rio Waida
Don't know what to say except John John is having a bad year and this is rock bottom! Praying that your knee is all healed up!!!
GO rio
Florence doesnt care anymore he knows the judging is skewed toward the OTW's and I dont blame him.this this the abyss we live in.
JJ's board looks weird. Lot of volume forward, low rocker, and he's surfing way off the back. Looks off.
Fuck yeah Rio !
so good aye
JJ board, to small. You wait z everyone will be stepping up inches soon. Can't get the power we used to and the control when you have all that speed. Something's not working on that board

@Lucius Johnson Nope, used "to" is correct.
You spell checkers are annoying when you get it right, when you're wrong it's absolutely hideous 😮😅
I mean it is too small but it’s still annoying
@@simrdownmon6431 you're wrong buddy

Rios cade a nota do cara pelo amor. Queria q o JJ Florence ganhara d3 qualquer jeito. Da nojo ver as pontuaçoes
Johns board looks like it got no fins. Too loose.
John John looking like he's on a wakeboard. Needs to get back on a board with more foam. Think power surfing.
lose money jon jon , on to the next one good luck aloha !!!
🤙🤙
JJ cant complete an air
John would rather be on his sailboat lol
John is getting underscored!
Medina and Italo too they should cry it out on social media 😂🎉 lol
JJ age is starting to kick in and he’s had surgery on his knees,
JJF bad board choice
John shuold go back to ghost model
Wtf Happened To JJF?! Ever Since He Got Married She Has Him Doing All That Stupid Sh!!ttt And His Head Is Not On Competition 💯😡
Wave selection let JJF down… Rio’s quick but style wise 🤢
Wsl is getting more and more fake !
john john's surfing is boring now
Rio rips but he’s not in the same league as John john
He beat John John 😅
Observe Rio's surfing. He has one of the best rail games on the tour.
This not Rio first time beating jjf tho

Put John on a real wave an he’s unstoppable
@@Dinsmore000 that was a real wave, surf ranch is the only fake wave on tour
